Yeah that was super fun. They managed to make pop-punk interesting while still maintaining that pop-punk feel. Appreciate the choice of pick.

I think the reason Belmont is so fun to me is because it sounds like blink-182 was really into prog and decided to put some really intricate instrumentation into their music, also the drummer is fucking nuts so...1:1 there. (Pushing daisies and empty are also bangers)

Dude week-> Radiohead-Paranoid Android. Radiohead are one of the most influential rock bands of the last 25 years.They have been called "the new pink Floyd", but i think they are their own thing.They have experimented with electronic music and jazz. Paranoid Android is a good example, its a fan favourite, considered their best song. I also suggest Reckoner (Live from the basement) , and No Surprises.

@@CriticalReactions Radiohead are a must-listen at some point. I said on my Top 100 Artists list that they're as close as our generation has had to a band as significant as The Beatles. The Bends, OK Computer, and Kid A were all masterpieces, all massively influential, and all quite different. They were also all made after Creep, which was from their first album. Good song, but nowhere near their best.

I don't know if the tuning is exactly the thing that makes it different and not just the mixing. For example Plini's song Electric Sunrise very much in the Djent category is only a half step down tuning wise. Maybe this is too high in the frequencies to feel similar to lower tunings but.. I've heard a standard E chord sound pretty low because of it's context but yeah.

Really suprised you didn't have more to say about the drummer. This type of music is called Easycore. It's got breakdowns, lots of times gang vocals like hardcore with more melodic vocals and guitar riffs. Four year strong, new found glory, Chuck! No captain Chuck and set your goals are all super similar to this. Minus the insane drummer.
@crowing3886
@crowing3886 2 года назад
Literally none of those bands sound like this musically aside from vocals lol. The drumming is waaaay too technically an the guitarists are playing math rock. Think counterparts. That's not easy core at all.
@Bluuuu222
@Bluuuu222 2 года назад
@@crowing3886 what? Counterparts have nothing to do with what I said. The bands I mentioned obviously aren't gonna sound exactly the same. Why tf would they. We don't just make a new genere for every band because they don't sound exactly like another band.

@jonathanhenderson9422
@jonathanhenderson9422 3 года назад
This was indeed a fun track. My one common complaint with pop punk is that the instrumental music is boring. Sometimes the vocals melodies/hooks can be catchy enough to make up for that, but it typically still feels empty. This fixed that problem and had some interesting music while maintaining the catchiness. I guess you could call it proggy pop punk, and it's not a combination you see very often. ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead is one band that kinda mixed poppy punk with prog, though they did it from more of a conceptual angle than from this mathy/djenty angle.
