Yo! Mark here, the vocalist in Kardashev. Thanks so much for the kind words about our music! I appreciate you taking some time to take a peek the song, and for giving it a listen! Our EPs "The Almanac" and :The Baring of Shadows" Have these vibes, so you may enjoy them. Older than that is a bit different.Much love!
I have both of those albums in my Bandcamp wishlist. I'm gonna give them a listen first but there's a strong chance I'll be picking up some albums from ya. Thanks for dropping by the channel. And congrats on getting signed! I've been directed towards your reaction channel this week (which I'll be checking out) and I saw that video. Pretty awesome stuff and you guys totally deserve it! 🎉🎊🥳
They just got signed to Metal Blade Records so I'm expecting some great stuff from them soon. The lead vocalist has his own reaction channel where he reacts to songs from the perspective of a harsh vocal connoisseur.
@@KardashevBand Ayyyyy. When all of this pandemic shit is over, I really really hope to see you guys in St. Louis. Discovered you back in July and have been in love ever since.
Their ability to make harshness sound so beautiful is still absurd to me. Since you really liked this song, you should absolutely check out anything from their latest release, The Baring Of Shadows. It is basically everything you liked about Between Sea and Sky, but magnified even more. Torchpassing is my favorite song from that EP because it kinda hits close to home for me, but every song on there is great.
Yes!! I was going to suggest Kardashev. I love this kind of music. I would suggest Adore by Numenorean next Edit: Yes, this IS there sound. Quintessential Kardashev
Oh man this band is incredible. Easily one of the most talented singers I've ever heard. I wouldn't have picked this song personally, I would've done Between Sun and Moon, as it shows off even more of the vocalists styles while still having that heavy contrast and being a gorgeous song.
I put The Baring of Shadows and The Almanac in my list of stuff to check out. I'm looking forward to them (even though I know they have some gnarly growling in 'em 😅)
I always find that I have a preference for bands like kardashev that contrast those textures and sounds - clean/harsh. That contrast is so satisfying to me. You should check out negura bunget- their album om is an absolute masterpiece and I think you would really enjoy them despite them being a black metal band 😉 Oh and check our sun and moon- another song off this album with a music video.
Dude excellent choice of a band, Kardashev kills it. If you want more emotional death metal like this, you should check out Black Crown Initiate. Oh and Kardashev is Progressive Atmospheric Deathcore if you're still pondering
How is it i was just thinking today that I wish more people reacted to these guys and you just so happen to upload this? Freaking awesome! Great reaction, snow-sleep is another great one!
Mark, their singer has a RU-vid channel, Kardavox Academy. He mostly reviews harsher vocaled music, which isn't so much my cup or tea, so I don't watch that often, but his reviews are very good. He also teaches harsh vocals and occasionally collaborates with The Charismatic Voice when Elizabeth reviews harsher stuff. PS - you're putting these videos out faster than I can watch them!
That's awesome. I've heard of Elizabeth's channel (only recently, sadly) but it's cool to find a metal singer providing commentary on harsh vocals. As for the videos, I'm finally caught back up. Starting Thursday we'll be back to just 1 video a day.
I love that music from this particular album is finally getting love. One of my favorite albums in the year 2017 & now in 2021 it’s getting it’s deserved flowers. Great reaction & review!
great reaction! as others have suggested, songs from their new ep, like Snow-Sleep, would also make a great reaction (or private listen :) ) as there is even more variety in the vocals, especially more beautiful clean vocals
They consider themselves "deathgaze", mixing death metal/core, shoegaze, and atmospheric music. All their stuff is beautiful and heavy and I don't know another band that does that this well. Also, definitely check out The Baring Of Shadows album too, they really build on this sound Maybe even do a full album reaction?
At the 4:30 mark I love the layering of the vocals, "scream and clean". The whole piece was really really good. Loved it. Will seek out more. Edit: Is there such a thing as melodic black metal????
Beautiful track. Definitely categorize this as blackgaze, the same genre as Deafheaven and Alcest. Alcest is still my favorite band in the genre, but if Kardashev's other songs are this good Alcest may have some competition! If you really loved this, you should check out some more Alcest. I know you listened to Kodama, but that track was more pure shoegaze and they have other tracks that are more like this: a great mix of beauty and harshness. Les Voyages De L'Âme would be a good second song to check out.
I would really like to hear your thoughts on "The Harvest Wombs" by Fallujah, it has that beautiful and serene tone with a strong black metal foundation to it. I would say moreso than this song, although it is an instrumental. They are able to convey a very strong mood in this track and I think it will resonate with you.
