That game scared me as a kid. Kevin Schilder made some of the best dark fantasy soundtracks I have ever heard in my life. It still causes me goosebumps even when I play it now :)
Hexen and Hexen 2 are some of my favorite soundtracks ever (Blood as well for the same reasons) because of the dissonant and unnerving music. Theres way too little of it out there, especially that is composed with the intent to still be a pleasant listening experience.
Totally agree with you, maybe composers don't take risks as much these days. I absolutely love the dissonance in his music, and its not so far out that you cant enjoy it.
Excellent episode! Hexen is one of my favorite games and I recently did much of the music for a mod of the game, so it's very cool to hear the original composers take on things. Any chance we'll see an episode of this series on Blood? I would love to hear what the old Monolith staff had to say on that!
Hexen is one of my favourite thanks solely to Kevin's awesome music. I came from a modding background so it's great to see another composer like yourself. I'm a big Blood fan, would be fun to do one with the composer.
Scott, would you and Kevin be willing to share those images of his working notes? I'd love to have those to keep in my collection and enjoy for preservation's sake :)
