Love all the altered composition books. And that sound of the crinkled paper from the shoe shine is intoxicating! And the chunkiness of the 3rd book is delicious :)
Laura Susan you my darling have made my day.. By making it look and sound easy... From a mature lady that has never had a journal.... Only wrote in the calendar .... Again darling thank you ....
I know this video was made along time ago but I just came across it. I just started watching RU-vid on making junk journals and I've seen hundreds of them and some are really beautiful but I have to say I LOVE your composition note book journals the best!!! I love how simple they are yet really fun and useful. I absolutely love them! I think I found exactly what I want. I can't wait to make these! Thank you for sharing!
Not sure if anyone is familiar with ASMR, but that specific sound of the paper was my first ASMR 'trigger', making my scalp prickle. Kinda like a one second euphoric feeling in your ears and scalp. And I LOVE that way you've done these. I had SO many unused comp books lying around from when my kids were in school. Time to put them to use!
I’m so pleased to see someone who is actually writing in her own junk journal! I do the same. I’ve tried making the journal first and then just writing in it each day vs making each page as I go along. Doing it day by day I get to match the page to my mood or topic, but it became time-consuming, so there were often days I wouldn’t write anything. Having the journal already prepared with pockets, etc makes writing everyday a lot easier and I seldom miss a day. But it’s quite a task to get a whole journal done and ready to write in! Love your composition notebooks! Your family will treasure them someday and remember you by them. And some great great great granddaughter will know you!!!
I love this idea. I've been doing something similar in a notebook I got from Dollar General, just putting stuff in with a glue stick. I also keep several journals at a time. I'm going to try this with the composition book.
I absolutely just discovered you and this video! And it’s like a EUREKA moment! I’m starting my second composition notebook for my grandsweetie and though the first came out pretty nice, your ideas and instructions are guaranteed to make this one a better experience! I’m Subscribing and Liking and can’t wait to see your other videos! Thank you! 🤗
I lived in Texas for a bit. I don't recall people pronouncing uno as "you know" but did have a friend that said quesedilllllla ;) Too cute, I wondered if it was a dialect thing. I live in the northeast and we "yankees" certainly need some assistance in the pronunciation depahhhtment :) I loved the tiny Uno cards! Very cute ideas here!
After seeing this, I bought the one with graph paper..... A couple of searches on Google & Ebay and I was in..... I'm going to "Gelli" mine with my home-made gelatin slab I'm making this week. I'll make it chunky like yours.... There are many junk-journal videos on RU-vid. But yours capture the concept as no other. Yours are the gold standard of this wonderful art form. I am all at once enchanted & inspired & comforted by your presentations. You are the queen of junque.... LOL.... Will pray for you for how much you inspire me! Let me know when you blow into my town~NYC.
Hello! Wow, I'm late to the party. It's 2021 and I'm just starting my first altered composition notebook. Thank you for sharing yours. Love the different ways that you are prepping them. Blessings & Bubbles...oooOOO
Thanks for sharing all of your journals! I love these composition book journals. I have one I made back at the beginning of 2014 and I am still using it, of course I don't write in it very often, so I may be using it for many more years to come!
You know it's funny but that movement or action of just painting the shoe polish or paint or whatever medium you use on a page has it's own very Zen feeling to it also. I actually enjoy doing that very much. I find it very relaxing somehow. Don't know what that means but that's how I feel. Those edges are so gorgeous to!!! I am constantly fascinated by how these "junk" type journals just draw me to them like a magnet. They are just soooo much fun and they turn out so awesome no matter what is in there. Thanks for sharing it with us!!
I luv this. I recently pulled out a journal my great aunt kept. She typed all the pages with births, marriages deaths and paperwork. It's a family treasure of our ancestry. Yours is the same idea. It's awesome.
Love, luv, your journals. I do the same, working out of more than 1 journal..You are not ADD you are super duper creative LOL! Will definitely use your techniques!!
Super journals! Thanks for the flip through. Love seeing how others use comp journals. I must try the tipping in of pages with washi tape. Makes such pretty edging and gives more room.
Flips and flaps and fru fru. LOL you're great! I have saved this as a go to for inspiration. If I'm remembering... those journals actually have signatures. If I'm right, I'm going to take them apart and coptic stitch bind them with covers so there's more room. I LOVE this! Thanks for sharing, even six years later ♥
Don't know if I've seen any of your videos before but...came across this one from 7 years ago and the journal from 2014 😯 And I loved it🥰 very relevant and inspiring ❤ already 👍 and subscribed with notifications set to all
Wow Laura, you've been busy! I love the personal style of the journals, especially all of the goodies you've put in. So much color and stuff going on. Love it
Awesome altered notebooks / junk journals! Love the 3 styles and I am the same way, where I start one and then go on to make another before I finish the first when I get another idea.
Great inspiration to use my papers and tape. It's nice to see a journal used this way , I get so nervous about doing artwork on each page . I'm not the best at it but I do love to write and I love the Lord and daily reminders . Thank you ! The shoe polish tip is awesome too :)
I started out with composition "junk" journals too and that is still the only kind I use consistently, enjoyed looking through yours! Thanks for sharing.
