Meet Brad from Morrinsville running a dairy farm of 250 Jersey cows. Historically Brad used a run-off for winter grazing but with the feed pad they've taken a lot of pressure off the pastures by housing the cows through the winter. The feed pad has also given better control of nutrients through the use on/off grazing.
Using the barns over winter have helped target reduced nitrate leeching by 50%. It has also helped reduce heat stress over the hot summer months.
