This week is my one year anniversary of NOT working on my tiny house. Not necessarily proud of that. Just is what it is. ANYway...wanting to get back into it and you are by far one of my favorite channels to watch because you keep it light and informative and you crack me up! I will make it through this (hopefully) building of my first house because of humor and advice like this. Thanks for thinking these videos are a worthwhile thing to do with your time. You make my life better!
very few people go into the depth of composting toilets like this! I appreciate it! Also Im not sure you remember replying to my comment about all your tools and how i was so jealous but I am now the proud owner of a drill and impact driver! nothing fancy, but its a start and has already made whatever little projects and tasks I have so much easier!
Dan, love your humor , you started like a builder and now you are THE showman!!!! I think in your videos much more interesting isn't content, but form!!!
LOL, when I was 14 or 15 I went labouring on a friends dads house conversion. First day, first task the builders said I had to empty the week old shit bucket. Horrified, but not wanting to get fired I dutifully went into the garden and started digging a hole. 'Deeper, dig it much deeper' they shouted to me, 'it f'kin stinks'. As the bucket of 10 mens shit was brought out into the garden, you could smell it from 10 yards away upwind. 'Why haven't you bastards emptied this before now', I cried. Just then, Jock wandered up and said in his broad Glasgow accent, 'ahh, fk it, I had a skin full last night, I'll do it'. He tossed his cigarette to one side, lifted the lid and began to empty the shit bucket, whilst simultaneously chucking his guts up into the same hole. Never a sight I have seen before or since I so hard I was crying, both from sheer relief and genuine comedic value, thirty years later I can still picture it as clear as day. Thanks Dan!
The LADIES LIKE IT :-) ... I like What I see !!.. I see strong, resilient, hard working, smart, Talented, Passionate, articulate, tenacious, free spirited, impressive. Good content! Thank You for sharing!
Way to go w that compostable toilet...been there brother. Been watching your channel for our comic relief since Tiny House Terry...we still have our 1971 Terry waiting for us to repurpose it
I love this shyt. You do find a way to make the most boring or tedious tasks entertaining. P.s. peanut vs horse. Peanut so has my bet. Thanks again, well done
When I had a composting toilet I used to use the Lowe's buckets also . I had them hid around the back of the house LOL no shame in your game right on Front Street
You obviously live in a way friendlier part of the country than I do. There's no way I could "get away with" ANY of the things you do. 1) You found someone to let you erect tiny houses and shanties on their land and live in them year round. 2) You spliced into their electric in their barn and ran it out to said shanties. 3) You created a 4 wheeler "trail" going through multiple properties including at least the owner of the land you live on, and his neighbor. 4) You crap in buckets and when you accumulate enough you walk just over the property line and dump them in "technically the neighbors backyard". 5) You are then gracious enough to go and STEAL saw dust used in horse barns to throw on said crap so not to offend anyone... I had a WAY longer list but thought some wouldn't remember what I was talking about so I tried to keep it somewhat short and recent... Im not hating. I love the channel. I love the lifestyle. If anything I'm a little jealous. If I did any ONE of those things I would have the cops called on me so fast. I have to waste $800 every month just on rent because that would not be going down where I'm from. Thanks for sharing. Im commenting because I want to support the channel. Maybe for next week's video you can bang their wives, you already have free reign over the rest of the property.... LoL joking. Love the house, love the shop. Keep sharing.
Any progress on the Container tool shed? Any changes to the tiny house? We haven't seen it in a while, might be time for an update video lol glad to see you back.
I thought about that especially for Pee since the body seems to make more of that then poo. Have you built such a contraption and how is it working for ya?
Might want to watch the RU-vid recent videos by Doug and Stacey Offgrid [they are on 11 acres in rural Missouri] whre they detail their compost toilet and compost pile system.
Dan. I’m retiring soon and I’m in need of downsizing. I’m hoping and praying to have a smaller house built. Do you recommend any honest contractor in Lee county Florida?
How about getting a nice and strong IBC cage and it's pallet (preferably the galvy steel one), cut up the tote so the bottom and top are gone (or use some of the fencing wire mesh stuff and some landscaping cloth - maybe even better) clad the steel frame with some pallet wood and have a nice and stable looking shit digest machine...
Dan...if it stinks, you aren't using enough sawdust. I have watched many vids re: composting and they all say no smell with enough sawdust. Watch Off Grid with Doug and Stacy. He actuallh had his face down near his compost pile, snd his wife as well, stresses no smell.
It doesn’t smell in the house. When you dump the bucket you’ll smell it regardless of how much sawdust u use. More sawdust = less shit. I’d rather not change the bucket every day
@@TinyHouseCustoms Then eat less, and/or add more to the pile, not the bucket. You need more carbon (wood shavings, straw, dry leaves...etc). Also, without a urine separator, pee outside with Peanut as much as possible. Too much piss in your pile will cause excess stink, too. Happy dumping, chief.
literally a well of shit... The bucket composting is great. My friend in the city uses a bucket with bags and tosses it in the garbage can since we cannot have composting heaps of this type.
Depending on where your viewers live Channel Off Grid Living Really With Steve Roberts He designed a super design Bio-Digester based on the human body. Poop in. Fertilizer out... Enjoy
