Thank you for this video, I was so excited when I saw the title, but then got a bit lost when you started to talk about puts. I think most people watching your videos are in calls. I had to try to think about everything you were saying in reverse because I was interested in this content for calls. I have done much better with your advice buy buying in the money calls with at least 60 days to expiration but I needed advice on when to roll them. If you ever revisit this topic again, can you please give examples using calls. I love your content, keep it up! Cheers!
The concepts apply generally equally to put or call side, so I wouldn’t get stuck on them being puts - I’d listen more to the decision cycles being discussed.
I just started options trading mostly covered calls about 2 months ago. My mindset is very much like yours when it comes to defending a position, keep your theta high and avoid buying back as much extrinsic value as possible in order to improve your basis. Glad to see i am not alone in this idea, was starting to think i was misunderstanding something. Going to add you to the top of the list of people i watch to learn as much as possible.
That’s totally okay, gotta slowly build the skillset. Similar to how we leverage progressive overload in strength training, slowly gaining exposure to new concepts is part of the learning process. Keep at it!
I was really excited to watch this video and then about 3 minutes in, I realised that I still have a ton to learn about options. It was like watching the greeks, quite literally! :-(
Hahaha that’s good though. Options are a little complex, that’s precisely what yields opportunity. Check out my options for beginners playlist - that’ll help lay a foundation for you. In the meantime, the more you can surround yourself with options, even if you don’t fully understand, your mind in building subconscious datasets. Stick with it. It comes in time.
I’m still not comfortable with puts But now I do understand them better. I can also see why “They” would have a problem getting out of their position shorting $GME or other positions
