Thanks to my mom, who was a nurse for 20+ years (now retired), I wear support stockings when I work ( I'm a Registered Respiratory Therapist). She wore them herself in her career, and she advised me from Day 1 to wear them too. The best feeling is taking them off after a long night, second only to taking my bra off. 😂😂
Taking that bra off is definitely up there 😅😅 In the beginning of my career, my ankles used to be so swollen after every shift and hurt like crazy. Now, no more swelling and my legs and feet feel good after taking my socks. No comparison. 🤗
My wife is an NP and I am a warehouse manager. I’ve had to have vein stripping twice over the course of 20 years. You do not want to have vein stripping so I would also highly recommend compression stockings! I used to have to get a prescription and order them and it would take me literally 1/2 hour to get them on with rubber gloves up to my knees! Thankfully, I can now manage with just runners stockings/socks. They killed three of my legs and feet and no more problems with veins. I simply want to damn Amazon for 13 bucks a pair and I actually look forward to putting them in the morning and taking them off when I get home from work or the gym. It’s so cool now that lots of runners and people working out at the gym are wearing them up to their knees with shorts… which is very nice for me to see because it makes me feel comfortable wearing shorts again! I enjoyed your videos very much. Thank you for getting the word out to everyone who is on their feet 8 to 12 hours a day and sometimes longer. Peace! 👍👍
Thank you for sharing your story chessdude67. I agree that everyone should own compression socks especially those of us who spend long times on our feet. I enjoy coming home and removing my socks as well. No more hurting feet and legs after long shift. 🤗💕
I’m only 17 but I have POTS and I just got some compression socks and dear god my new fav thing I can actually BREATHE cause my blood isn’t stuck in my feet
Thats awesome Brynna Wenz! Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome effect many people and compression socks can help relieve some of the symptoms related to the syndrome. Thank you for putting this information out there for others and being apart of the Nurse Cheung Community. 🤗 😘
You can buy cheaper compression socks that do an amazing job, such as copper fit, for $9.99 for a pair. 👍 I've personally bought enough for a week, so you always have them available. 😍
As a truck driver that drives 610 miles daily, compression socks have been a difference maker in only the the 2 weeks I’ve been wearing them. I would get dizzy everyone I stepped out of my tractor. To the point I felt like I was going to pass out. I no longer have this issue. I wish I did this years ago.
I already mentioned that I work in the Food service kitchen and I'm on my feet for a long time. It's been a year now that I been wearing compression socks for work. You were right it took me a while to get use to wearing compression socks and now I got to say I love wearing compression socks now because it makes my legs/feet happy. :-) thanks for recommending me to wear them.
I am so happy Jason that you are doing so well with the compression socks. They are very important for any profession who sits or stands are long periods of time. Keep it up. 🤗💕
Nurse Cheung I will for sure. I'm 47 years old and I think I need to buy and wear them more often now that you mentioned that I should wear them when I sit for a long periods of time. My question now even when I'm relaxing sitting for a while should I wear them before like 5-6 hours before work? Thanks for your help and if I could put a good word for you I will do that. Sounds like you are a great/smart nurse.
Of course Paula Vitt. I highly recommend you obtain medical grade compression socks. There are a lot of socks on the internet that are marketed as "compression socks." Anything 20-30 mmHg or higher is great for compression when it comes to inflammation and swelling. Let me know how compression socks are working for your lei vasculitis. 🤗💕
I am not a nurse. I am 45 year old man with four open heart surgeries in my past. Compression socks were suggested after once traveling. The compression socks relieved my lower leg's swelling and I have used them regularly, ever since. I now notice the large amount of compression accessories, socks, arm wraps and more on all sports professionals. #sockstomorrow
They are really great for just about everyone. There are certain people who should not wear them due to health issues; however, with your background of open heart surgeries and at your doctor's request, it would be extremely beneficial for you. They really have life savers when it comes to your health. Thank you for sharing your story. 🤗💕
Absolutely vulnikkura. All healthcare professionals should implement compression socks during their working hours. Even during exercise, compression socks are beneficial. I highly recommend them 🤗💕
Thank you Michelle Gomez. I am so happy this video was helpful to you for your profession. I can imagine as a chef you would be on your feet for extended periods of time. My husband is the cook in our house and loves to wear his compression socks when he meals preps for the week. 🤗💕👩🏻🍳
For this past week now I started wearing compression socks every day to work and yes I'm not having too much pain or soreness on my legs/feet. I'm hoping they will keep getting better to wear them. Wearing compression socks is making my feet happy:-)
I work in the Food service business now I been wearing compression socks for about 2 weeks now they really help me and after I get done with work my legs/feet feel not bad at all. Wearing compression socks is a must and no more regular socks at work anymore. One question tho should I keep the compression socks on after work or no?
Personally, as soon I return home, I immediately remove my compression socks. I haven't noticed a difference between wearing them during and after work versus just during work. 🤗💕
I wear compression socks when I go to the gym and workout. I work in the food service business so I'm on my feet a lot lately my legs/ feet been getting tired and achy lately. I'm thinking of wearing them to work I'm wondering should I start wearing them to work every day????
I highly recommend wearing compression socks everyday at work especially if you are on your feet for extending periods of time. You will notice a slight difference after your first day and more difference every day you were them. The feet swelling and pain will be noticeable different after a minimum of a week. I used to come home, take my shoes off, and felt like I couldn't stand or walk after my shifts. All my pain has disappeared and my swelling is completely gone when I wear my compression socks.
I have personally been using the Physix Gear Compression Socks for Men & Women www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01J4MF30G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 for over two years. They are $19.99 each and still fit just as good as the day I purchased them. They are worth the investment to pay a little more for great quality.
I use to drive a semi, then 4 years ago I got ill. 5 doctors walked into my hospital room and told me I would I would never be able to work again. I am a vet. and they disabled me. I was told to wear compression socks. I do not wear because they are such a hassle to get on and take off. If any one knows of some that are not a hassle to put on and take off. Please post so I can get them to ware,
I was told to wear compression stockings, I honestly did not believe they would work but after a long day of work today, my feet felt great and I had no swelling. Thank you for this video it has me more informed.
Compression socks are the absolute best! I always recommend them to everyone I meet especially those who stand or walk for long periods of time. They are worth the investment 😀
Absolutely! Any career that requires you to walk, stand and/or sit for extended periods of time would be beneficial to obtain compression socks. I have not personally used Copperfit, but I have heard some good things about them. Just make sure you have the right compression in your socks. 🤗💕
Personally, I have used both above the knee and below the knee compression stockings. I can tell you in my experience the above the knee stockings were very uncomfortable and there wasn't a big difference between the two regarding compression. I wear up to the knee compression socks while working on the units and they have been fantastic! 🤗💕
i thought they were just for running my cross country team all wear them i told my mom about them and she got me them so im looking it up so well this is weird to find out its for people who stand a lot or even sit.
Compression socks are very versatile in different professions or activities. I have been wearing them for the last six years as a nurse since it's one profession that stands most of the shift. I have never experienced swelling or leg discomfort after a long shift in the hospital. My current compression socks have lasted me for almost two years and still fit snug. 🤗💕
I can’t agree with this video enough. I use tighter Zensah running compression sleeves at work and looser TED hoses at night. Amazing for prevention and recovery.

How fun. It seems like fewer hospitals allow their nurses to wear anything outside of specific colors based on the persons role within the hospital. Especially in Florida. Would have loved to be festive.
I know I been commenting a few times here. But I thought I give an update. Now it's been a month now I been wearing compression socks and now I can say I'm so thankful and in love with compression socks now. Wearing compression socks equals happy feet/legs agree? I wonder wear you can get some crazy compression socks?
That's so great Jason Marr. You can honestly never comment to much on my channel. 🤗💕 I am glad to hear that you are seeing a difference by wearing your compression socks. It only gets better with time, trust me! I agree wearing compression socks makes your legs and feet very happy. I have seen websites where you can purchase crazy and fun compression socks; however, in my experience they haven't been as great as the top quality socks that are plain and boring. If I wear crazy socks, I only wear them once a week or so.
I do like my black color compression socks I think black socks looks cool also. I do have lots of wild colors and patterns socks but they are not compression ones i guess I'll have to do my search. Crazy colorful socks brings smiles and laughter for myself and others. I know I'm elaborating but if it was not for you I would not be sporting compression socks at work your recommendation is appreciated. :-) Thanks a lot and your awesome:-)
@@NurseCheung well my Doctor wrote how strong, they did tests on my legs for to find out how tied I need them, hope I did not write something wrong! I have a problem with my inner blood vessels, sorry for my bad english, so in his letter he wrote about my problem and the tests they made in a special Clinic!
Thats awesome! At least you can get the help you needed for your inner blood vessel problem. 🤗 I hope they are working for you and helping alleviate your symptoms.
I personally haven't worn my compression socks while sleeping. I have heard of people wearing them at night; however, I allow that time to let my legs breathe from working all day. 🤗💕
Very true. $29.95 for compression socks can seem expensive, but it's worth spending the money on a great quality compression socks that will last. I've had mine for over a year and they are not stretched out. Love, love, love mine.
