These dudes survived because they probably looked out for and was involved in illegal activity with key figures in the hood. Why else were they respected in the hood by some of the most dangerous elements of society.They probably warned them about bust that were gonna happen, who the department had the radar on,etc. They look corrupt.

It’s weird knowing/believing that most ppl in society will never understand what it’s like to experience turbulence, with life and death on the line, at times daily, for YEARS and then come through the other side of that. Gives you hard eyes, but gives you a little more wisdom and a little more gratitude for life. My experience came from being a criminal and a drug addict and drug manufacturer. Yours came from working trauma as a medic. The intensity is there all the same, whether it occurs in one form or another.

In my case, “war” for me only solidified to me a KNOWLEDGE of higher spiritual forces (God/a Creator, etc) Not a belief. A KNOWLEDGE of the presence of spiritual mechanisms in life.
