Trump, bankrupt six times, cheats on his wife with a porn star then pays her off, draft dodger, starts a fake university, tax evasion, anything he does not like is fake news, yet his supporters trust him. His whole life has been a big scam.
Truly shocking that he’s not a politician. This level of confidence, gregarious story telling and ability to charmingly lie would have kept him in office.
I most enjoyed this interview because it’s rare to witness a narcissist being able to look themselves in the mirror and truly see themselves for who they are. It’s intriguing and very encouraging. Thank you for making these videos, Mark!
yes i had a friend that was sociopathic narc and he was not able to self reflect, like we would point out obvious character flaws and he would deflect instantly and try to change the subject. we eventually had to kick him from the group because he was driving everybody insane
I think the only reason he is admitting hes a scumbag is because he was caught. Now hes just using a different angle. Hes even convinced whom ever there is actually something good about this interview.
He didn't mean it, take it with a pinch of salt. He doesn't think he is a scumbag at all, he adores himself whole heartedly, to the point he finds his crimes comical.
😂😂😂 cuz he thinks he's SO witty and everyone knows he's a thieving douche. He paid nothing. We paid for his fraud. Every tax payer. And he knows it. And he is still stealing ..just other people's stories. Makes me sick
Man people are really hating on him here. You guys know this channel focuses on interviewing people with problems? Matt admits that what he was doing was wrong, he admits that he’s a narcissist (which most narcissists would never do), and at the end of the day he encourages people to not go down the road he did. You people will tear anyone apart 🤦♂️
Hi. Non-narcissist sympathizer here. "Hating" is a term terribly over used. Hating (playa hating) comes from a place of deep seated envy and jealousy. And while _some_ people in the comments may be envious of this guy to _hate on him,_ my guess is most people are not. As for me, I dont see myself in this guy. I dont relate him on a personal level but my narci-radar is strong and I'm cognizant of these types. I would never defend this narc much less give him a pat on the back for doing what he's supposed to do in life which is admit his character defects. We all should be doing that. I wouldn't give a damn how "traumatic" and "extra hard" it was for him simply because he's a Cluster B traited personality. Poor baby. Besides, I'm not at all convinced his introspection is genuine lol. I mean it could be, but I aint falling for it... Plenty of narcissists learn to _"fess up"_ and admit to things as long as it will benefit them in the long run. It's part of the manipulation tactic. Gaslighting. Triangulation. Hovering. Love bombing. Virtue signaling etc etc etc... Just a tactic. Lol. Is it possible he's being sincere? Sure. It's possible. But I'm leaning towards _not probable._ This guy is in an interview on a channel that boasts of over a million subscribers lol. And this video in particular has gained 247K views. Even if it was only a fraction of that, he's still he's being seen by a lot of people lol. But I'm sure he's _reformed_ and would never dream of using THAT to his advantage to con folks lol. I'm sure it never crossed his mind lol...
@@MadamTickTickBoom LMFAO relax, he's an interesting character. He's got much better interviews than this and he's been blowing up on YT, so of course this channel will grab him if possible, it benefits them bringing his fans in. You just went on a diatribe about why YOU dislike this video, yet you hate narcissism? Lmao too funny
@@jdaily2293 Wait. What? When did I say I disliked this video? When did I say I disliked or hated anything or anyone? Lol. I meannnnn, ok sure, sue me.... I'm not exactly fond of narcissists. Pathological narcissism, that is. Butter-um, I love this channel. And I enjoyed this video. And I wish the guy well actually. So observing someone for what they are (narcissist and a conman by his own admission) and having an unflattering opinion about _narcs_ means what exactly? That I hate this video and I'm a narcissist? Lol. Amusing. I felt my comment was harmless. Offending you was not intentional. Be well.
@paulbrown357 but he was only asked like 3 questions after the 1st 5 to 10 mins he just talked from there he really loves the spotlight, I can see him on joe rogan for a 6 hour podcast
Indeed it is. Both narcissistic and sociopathic (one who studies others in order to know how to behave, how one should feel, how to respond).. this combination and being that aware, one diagnosis (sociopath) educating the other (narcissism) according to this interview, has been helpful for him. This did and could still go in several negative directions but there is something innately positive in his characteristics that lies on top of his being to where he has flourished in the worst of situations and has done very well for himself.. and others.
@@n1njatuber His grasping for unattainable love from his father was a huge catalyst in all his subsequent behaviors. The hole it created in his psyche, a vacuum that the self insulates itself to by removing any true empathy.
@@n1njatuber Do we all have most of the characteristics of this man that we should be relating to? He’s trying to find the key to his insecurities. He absolutely owns and is trying to resolve his ill-behaviors to find peace. Discovering the “scumbag” in all of us that creates despair and anxiety. Struggling desperately to be objective about his need to protect his ego by accepting vulnerability. Trying to overcome his selfishness to appreciate the contentment derived from helping others in legitimate enterprises. Finding the true value of listening earnestly to others. Being blunt and truthful, no longer justifying greed. Is this a glimpse of our human conditions in exaggerated form? Are we all narcissists in varying degrees?
This interview as a pleasant surprise. So glad I watched it. This guy’s self awareness blows me away. It got me thinking about a lot of things. Thank you.
I can't think at all😮😂 I'm trying to work my anxiety down. It was very triggering for me.😢 I wish he would have welcomed more questions or comments from mark. If he was self aware then maybe he would care enough to have a back and forth conversation?!? . But ,a lot of disordered people have self awareness and don't care about a conversation . They care about adulation and praise etc.
He pretends like he knows he's a scumbag. The truth is he doesn't believe it for one second. He just wants you to think he does. He is not even low key about his narcissism.
@@mostdontknow8769 Yes, I second this. I am VERY confident - without somehow being a God - that I'm reading him correctly, and he's being honest about being a scumbag and flat out could not possibly care less if he's a scumbag or not.
@@Vincent_toia This is exactly how the wealthy 1% got to be the wealthy 1%, and they've intentionally set the system up to prevent anyone else from getting the same wealth or power. Big banks have screwed people over since they existed. Denied loans based on race, or idiotic crap like a month late payment in one year's time. They're not losing money because they've inflated the costs so much. It would be like if I spent 10 cents on a spoon and resold the spoon for 100,000 dollars. If the person defaults after 3 payments, I'm NOT out money. I've still made money. So yeah, I have a hard time feeling bad for banks and mortgage companies.
I was actually in prison with this guy. I sat and talked to this fuckin guy for hours and hours all the time. This is 100% Matt Cox. I’m really glad to see him land on his feet. His paintings are awesome too!
So prisoners can sit and talk to each other "for hours and hours all the time." Sounds like a great place to be, actually. It's my dream. Good place to teach and learn philosophy.
@@anomietoponymie2140. Yeah man. You can SIT and talk for hours. A lot of the time people exaggerate or right lie about what they’ve done. If they are telling the truth, it’s only teaching you how to be a criminal/convict. It’s not something to aspire to. If you want to learn, go to school or teach yourself.
This was a gold medal interview. Storytelling skills A+. Riveting. Great mannerisms, great expressions. Really good language skills. Toastmaster arcs, 5 minute anecdotes. Where'd you find this guy?! If this goes to TV...you get an Emmy award.
I blinked, 50 mins have gone by, ended up liking a narcissist who's probably conning me to like him, and left with a life lesson and a good story. well done Matthew cox
I have worked in Texas prison system x 10 years as medical provider and I can tell you everyone in prison is con man. He is super intelligent and affable.
What would you prefer he do? To be fair, 1. He knows why he’s there …to talk about his con.. 2. There is a whole conversation behind the scenes …i just find that comment interesting. Just most of these interviews are is like this… maybe this is one of the earlier ones
I passed over this video many many times… finally chose to watch it and am definitely glad I did! Great communicator- makes sense since he talked his way out of many dicey situations. Great interview.
"If you had honor you'd be working at walmart" that's a humbling and powerful statement. People always dream glory comes with honor, but in everyday life, it doesn't
Some dishonorable people work at Wal-Mart too. People say that to make those people feel good about not being able to measure up, either because of circumstances or lack of drive, to certain standards in society. Been in both worlds whether retail or corporate. Pieces of shit everywhere 😂😂😂
your idea of honor is flawed. the usage of “honor” in this situation is reduced to the boundaries of a society of crabs in a bucket. play your own game… not anyone else’s game.
I was going to stop watching, but as it moved nearer conclusions and finding his wisdom , there's no question- great interview. I visited a very successful and powerful man on his last moments in a hospital bed and I thank him deeply for his lesson- He created his small fortune, legally, yet left his son ( my best friend ) in a turmoil throughout his life. Strive, succeed and all that, but "leave no bodies on the playing field to suffer ( figuratively speaking )."
Check out his channel or his Koncrete interviews... He's a legit writer now, he collected stories from inmates on the inside and now crafts their stories... The producers of the movie WAR DOGS stole his story, he was in prison with Jonah Hill's character...
I recently bought 6 paintings from Matt for my new apartment I moved into a few months ago after seeing his work on his RU-vid channel. We chatted for about a half an hour on the phone and I have to say, thank goodness he’s no longer into defrauding people because dude is such a likable guy that he probably could’ve talked me into emptying my life savings for a single one of his paintings, lol! On a side note, he’s a VERY talented painter!
Dude fails miserably at taking off and being on the run. He’s addicted to grifting. He didn’t just do it for the money. He did it for the love of the con.
Just such an easy way to make money. And if you get away with it once you'll think you can keep getting away with it. No amount of money is truly satisfactory. No doubt it's a rush but that's not the full story.
This is a dangerous person to the innocent, but also a very dangerous person to the guilty. After watching this interview I checked my bank accounts to make sure he didn’t distract me for the 50 minutes to hurt me financially. I believe him when he said he is not a happy person but in reality he sleeps like a baby. Scary dude.
Maybe he faked his learning disability the whole time? You can’t be held accountable or expected to do the “right thing” if you have “disability”. Plus, there’s many “perks” when you have a disability tag, regarding to your government aid/schooling. He probably enjoyed bossing around the “other” disabled kids at school, while pretending to be one of them.
@@k.e.m4731 he’s probably dyslexic, it’s a learning disability but you can also have genius intelligence at the same time like Einstein he was dyslexic.
@Carlos Fuentes Carlos, temporarily artificially inflating nearby home prices by fraud isn't really good for anyone. Maybe it's good if you happened to sell at that time, but that means it's obviously bad if you're a buying the home, and paying the inflated price. It's bad even if own the property and don't buy/sell. The lenders got burned the worst, and I could care less about them, but Cox destroyed people's lives. Two minutes skimming on google: "Cox's victims have been forced to pay tens of thousands of dollars to lawyers to save their property from foreclosure on unpaid fraudulent loans. They have had to clean up ruined credit. "It's been so stressful, both financially and psychologically," says Bridget Brown." There are dozens of quotes like this. It appears several people were evicted based on fraudulent foreclosure proceedings. He did not make home owners richer. That's bullshit.
I learned something from this guy.He didn't know who he was until someone else told him.And he took it a step further by calling himself a scumbag (and arrogant). I've been called arrogant by a few people in my life but I couldn't see it because you're all in your own head. I don't con but have a quick, quirky and odd sense of humor and by at least one person in every crowd laughing at me I was validated in my behavior. Laughing's good---right? I didn't realize that at work people are intellectually incapable of appreciating clever humor and must have seen it as a defect. I thought they'd enjoy the lightness and attempt at morale-boosting. You made my day, I'd hear. Some people saw me as a witty companion but appreciation is lacking among the average worker. I still think they just don't understand, but I've learned to cut back and painfully endure the dull small-talk they practice. I walk at the first sign of banality. Do I want to see pictures of your remodeled bathroom floor? Are you kidding? I think I'll pass. Is that arrogant?
@@Jessica-js6dz Lol, they mention Michael Franzese by name in Goodfellows. The movie is based on the actual life he was living first-hand. He is listed as one of Time magazines "Top 25 Mob Bosses" (ahead of Gotti) - and is the only one still alive. Only Al Capone made money similar to what he made as a Mafia Capo.
He was also on the podcast KONCRETE. He has his story but he also now writes about other criminals. He just helped co-host an interview he wrote about another con-artist that blows Matt out of the water. It’s called Miami’s Darklord of Credit card scams. That was a really good one too. Y’all should check it out on here on YT.
You've gotta read some of his books.. He co-authored a book about the main character in the War Dogs movie also. www.miaminewtimes.com/news/war-dogs-efraim-diveroli-sues-mortgage-fraud-king-matthew-cox-over-memoir-9964443
He is a shark and you all are little fish. I cannot understand how so many people are taken in by him. Actually I do understand. I understand that most of the people on this thread are victims waiting to be screwed over.
Right. The only ethical code I have is to myself and my family and maybe a select few friends. Everyone else is cannon fodder...that might sound horrible but I have my priorities in life lol.
Never undermine emotional abuse. It's worse than physical abuse. At age 10, you can recognise your parents aren't "right' if you're beaten all the time. It can take you until you your 40s, 50s, 60s, and more to realise your parents were emotionally abusive and suddenly you see all the weird emotional and mental traps you are in.
Reality is that nobody reads his books. So he cons and say that " nobody reads". In the same way he manipulates and say " so i borrowed this money", when in reality he is stealing it. He is constantly manipulating. His new con is to convince people that he is a " reformed honest man".
As someone who spent the bulk of my career in legit sales managing teams of sales people I can tell you this guy would have killed it and made plenty of legal money if he'd gone down that path. Natural sales ability is easy to spot. Too bad he went the other way with his talents.
Why is he out ? He should be behind bars for life . He should have never been given a deal for ratting out others, if it didn't work for them. Maybe he has promised to work with the feds to set others up now ?
Thats a LIE. .Thats what Drug Dealers, Mafia, Organized Crime guys all say"IF i wanted to, I could have been a CEO, a Legit Millionaire". Then why didnt they? Why didnt they become that "Legit" business man? Because, No one taught them How.No one taught them how to Work, What it takes to be Successful..Responsibility, Punctuality, Respect for others and Yourself. And most Importantly, they were COWARDS, Insecure, Cowards. They were too afraid to ASK someone to teach them how to work.." Hello, can you Teach me how to work? And "Sales' is trying to sell something that person doesnt NEED, on top of what he came for. The Hard Sale. Buy that 25k car, but try to sell him the 30k crap he doesnt need or wanted , or even knew about. Imagins a Drug kingpin at a boardroom? He would be so out of his league. A Mafia boss can kill or intimidate his opppnest if Frustrated. Or Bribe him. You cant doi that in a legit business. And the caliber of people in a drug dealer or mafia circle is going to be LOW. Low IQ .
Lol lo HONEST , it’s no wonder he’s such a good con man if people are so naive, I could explain it but can’t even be bothered 😉 good luck in life your going to need it truly HONEST lol lol
He may be long winded but he's definitely telling the truth about the mortgage business in the late 90's early 2000's. It was extremely lucrative in those days. I worked for a dude at Golden State Mortgage when I was in HS and even as a processor I was making absurd amounts of cash, learning to get shit approved on the fly multiple times a day was the standard. Crazy shit
It never stopped bro, they get away with what they can at any certain period....sometimes regulations are easy or relaxed and other times strict.....but they always try regardless........any sales job where decent commission is at stake is same.......car salesman is another that is shady Humans are greedy by nature so will always be a problem unless heavily regulated or monitored
@@kirkdunn1379 Agree. I was in mortgage banking for years. I was in underwriting and then risk management. There was always tremendous pressure to give sales what they wanted and yet retain enough quality to get the mortgage sold. It would get wild and out of control, then huge losses, market crashes, mortgage companies would disappear. Then the market would come back, things would be strict, home values would rise and the greed cycle started all over again. Money can be made in a mortgage banking career but it is ebb and flow according to the market and the market has so much to do with how much fraud is/is not being committed. But I loved that business. Same as this guy, I had a fine art degree but loved the mortgage banking industry. Go figure.
Damn...pretty low. steal from the man that feeds you and clothed you. How will you feel about it when he is old and living on a retirement check? Think about this when you bury the poor man.
Sitting here at the halfway point and really appreciating that he’s so open to look at himself and his actions more critically and objectively than he had before. To me, that shows a lot of growth and honestly with himself. What a story, a very interesting listen so far. Thanks for doing the interview Mark!!
This video is one of the channel's best, Mark. THIS is what more people need to see. Incredibly eye-opening and informative AND, as a bonus, entertaining. THIS is why I watch SWU.
What a fucking line, "Since he has been a teenager he has believed that God is telling him he is preordained to be emperor of the world... what I love about it is that it doesn't affect his legal work."
yah. I think he was showing signs of a personality disorder that stems from being born that way. Ethical schools can't just tell the world "hey we are certain he is a psyshopath", so learning disability is a good front on that. But that confirms the school knew. However, is he crossed paths with the right people during that time of his life they could of challenged him more and steer his "deficits" into a powerful trait for something good. But nah.
In an odd twist of 6 degrees of separation, I happened to be working in Tampa and Temple Hills, FL during that same time he was elevating Ybor city area (2000-2003). There were actually up and coming areas of Ybor city and I was actually staying in a Hilton Garden Inn right in the heart of that resurgence area. I was working in Tampa and Tempe hills during the week and and then flying back home to the northeast each weekend. So, when he says the homes he was inflating were crack houses, he is spot on. 85% of Ybor city was a bad slum at that time with only a small area of revitalization in progress. Amazing to me that my path and the backyard if his scams interconnected. It further makes me wonder if that resurgent area was due to prospective investments based on his false inflation of housing in the area making it appear as if the region was coming back.
There's no cerebral challenge as an adjuster, there's also no gratification like there is when you pull the wool over someone's eyes and get a financial reward to boot. It's a hell of a drug, exploiting people's weaknesses gives you a feeling of superiority that little else can bring. It's almost on par with talking a girl into bed, a chase and a thrill that is over once the deal is sealed so you move on to the next one.
The good thing about him is he learned how to earn money legally by doing what he loves now. Hopefully he will be finished with a life a crime and close that chapter for good. Yes its unfortunate he committed fraud but he paid for his crimes. He has a clean slate and a different outlook in life. He was able to educate himself in prison to become a better person.
This guy is clearly a con man for life and I would never believe anything he says. But he is very entertaining to listen to and is certainly gifted as it pertains to storytelling. He will always be okay in life.
I looked him up on Facebook and while his page does not hint at his lavish lifestyle his girlfriends page does show the cars boats etc he has..He stole millions and still lives like a rockstar..I think he's still running scams
This interview was amazing. We all deal with our fair share of narcissists and sociopaths whom call the victim card once confronted but still claim that everyone else is flawed. This channel has been doing some amazing work.
Two guys doing what they love to do together...each took different paths to get where they need to be...but here they are. What a great combination. Thanks Mark & Matthew. Tons of insight here.
“And if it never gets better than it is, it’s better than it ever was” one of the greatest quotes I’ve heard I think, if you are someone in this situation. Turn a new leaf, accept defeat, sometimes you need it to really LIVE. Words I wish I lived by more often. Great storyteller
I mean is it really defeat when he got more and more happy the more he went to prison and started doing non-criminal activities? I think he is lucky to live in a place where you get second chances and he knows it.
