Tbh I totally understand conan at this point. Being in love is scary. so scary especially when you haven't really dated anyone as a teenager. Because now you have to be mature in a relationship but you have never been in one so it's a scary territory on how you have to be with someone so instead of enjoying the time you get with your partner you end up being anxious on if what you're doing is right or not. Moreover people like me who have commitment issues, I can say being vulnerable to someone is scary too. I even felt like I should not share something with my best friend because then I would be vulnerable in front of them and I didn't wanted to be seen as weak.
