Commenting as a southerner, and a former International owner I think it's a fake voicemail because it virtually impossible to get a '78 stuck. And anyone that is able to get one stuck, a guy that sounds like Arnold would be the one to get it unstuck.
Spoiler alert HE WAS REAL! he was Originally from Kentucky apparently. And people need to actually listen to the podcast as this clip was taken from the podcast 2 weeks ago.
😂 when Sona got all giddy when Conan was leaving a voice mail. I felt that, brings me back to my childhood with my brothers and childhood friends... when we would prank call on the telephone.
I'm now realizing how many people are watching the videos and are not caught up on the podcast. They already followed up with Arnold and solved this mystery.
The 78 International was the most authentic part of it. In Indiana we refer to periods of time in the past my the cars we owned. "Back when I had that Nova ..."
snitches get stitches 0:22, i'm glad this Sona remembers it. now i'll go watch "Ice Cube, Kevin Hart And Conan Help A Student Driver | CONAN on TBS" for the 100th time xD
707 is my hometown area code! He's definitely real, Sonoma and Napa County are huge agricultural areas! We've also got an amazing sense of humor in the north bay may I add ;)
Being from central California, this is what a lot of the people sound like in this area; thus, initially I thought the call was real. But the area code you mentioned is from a northern coastal California area-northern Bay Area to be specific. So, like Conan, it makes me suspicious.
I hope the follow-up half of this story (which is live in the latest CONAF podcast) comes to YT with a video component. I for one would like to see what Arnold looks like.
707 is coastal Northwestern California, from Sonoma County up to the Oregon border. I think it dodges inland a bit at Vallejo, but really the most westerly portion of Northern California. This is not really agricultural territory (other than wineries). I'm from that area, and NO ONE talks like that. It was considered the most neutral American accent when I was in college 30 years ago, but not sure that title is still held.
@@jumpsuitCD I grew up very near Benton, Kentucky and bucko is in heavy rotation in my vocabulary. I think it's fairly common in our neck of the woods.
I am from the 707 area code, specifically Sonoma County, and it is totally plausible someone has a 78 international. Especially if they were from Petaluma or north of us in Mendocino County.
A Country Gentleman would never asik a celebrity how to unstuck a tractor, hell they might not even ask one of their friends. Farmers and country folk just figure it out. They are very resourceful. I'm with you Conon.
Not if he's doing a bit. If he's a real Southerner and the tractor thing is real, he may be bringing it up as an opening for Conan, the Harvard-educated Boston guy who knows nothing about tractors.
I think it was a real call and Arnold just playfully-exaggerated his own accent. Had a buddy with a strong southern accent who would turn it up a notch when he thought his accent was out of place. He “steered into the skid”, so to speak.
I love how working with 4 time Emmy award winner Conan O'Brien has prepared Matt and Sona for raising children. "Stop bickering! And stop playing slap ass... I see what you're doing!"
