"Do you even gamble? Do you enjoy gambling?" "No. I don't like to gamble. I don't find it interesting at all. I mean, once in a while I'll play Russian Roulette, but, uh, I would never gamble with money."
I watched this again and liked it a whole lot more. Especially the part where he confronts Conan And says you always ask me these fake questions ,16 years! Great.
Great story about his seeing eye dog in a department store...swinging him around by the tail...Clerk asking about a possible purchase..Steven’s reply..”just looking around “..That’s funny. Jeff B. South Carolina
I find this Super Funny...sorry. I am not even English Speaking, i am German...but this Act is Easy to follow and is Funny AF! Also the way he moves and his facial expressions...all Funny!
Steven we went to see Deliverance at the theater back in 1973. People got up and asked for their money back when there was only one banjo being played in the Dueling Banjos scene
Not only that, but there was a singing group called The Williams Sister. She was asked why she used that name, and she said "Because there's only one of us.".
@@facethestrange15yearsago81 thanks brother! hilarious how his comedy makes Conan stop and have to think for a second... brilliant.... a half-twin"... lmao
@@zandarx He is a genius. Incredible how he remembers all the lines and his delivery is so good, his timing and facial expressions are impeccable. People compare him to Mitch Hedberg. While Hedberg was very very very good, Steven is a notch better in my view. Rodney Dangerfield was awesome, but a completely different comedian. All three great, but Steven is one of a kind. Love his one-line storytelling.
@@nealsausen4651 Agree. He still is. His thought process is incredible. Watch the documentary about the entire Massachusetts comedy scene. It is on Prime. Forgot the name. It is also available to buy on Amazon. Steve Wright is a comedy genius
I had just brought my new wife from the Philippines and I turned her on to Steven Wright. Unfortunately, she got only about 1/3 of what he said. She still likes him so that's a good thing.👍😎
1:18 hmmm...I had a conversation like that. "Then I saw those jin rickshaws...Friend: " They're Rickshaws.' Me: No....I'm sure they are jin richshaws." 38 yrs. later I realize NOW that it is spelled Jinrikisha! OR they're Rickshaws....I've got to get a life...again with SOMEbody!!! June
Millions do! Weren't you listening when your 3rd grade teacher was telling the class about synonyms and homophones? Why did you capitalize the "c" in comedy? Not listening that day about proper nouns? Maybe you were "profounding?" But I digress, where did the guy who was teaching you Welsh go? Keep on truckin'.
I agree, and those brainwashed, ignorant views from their chosen political agendas are what keep me from enjoying most comics. Very refreshing to be able to enjoy a good comic without all that bullshit.
Remember when Conan use to be funny then became a media talking head with its only jokes about donald trump and now we are in a recession and conan isnt funny anymore. Remember?
It's stuff like this that wastes Conan. He just has to sit there and pretend to find Steven Wright as sublimely hilarious as Wright obviously thinks he is.
I know that some comedians quote him a lot, and reference him, although I'd question the claim that he's widely regarded as 'one of the greatest stand ups of all-time'. A cult great perhaps. Maybe I haven't seen enough of his stuff, but he strikes me as massively overrated. And he was fuck-awful on this.
@Nelson Robert Willis I haven't seen much of his standup so I can't judge him on that. But this interview just wasn't very good. It was awkward without being funny.
@@thesprawl2361 Well, Steven takes a bit of time, like many comedians, to appreciate. If you check on the great comedians of all time however, I've never seen a list that omits him.
