Hey! Believe it or not I considered going down that route for this system, maybe with Conan Exiles though. But as you noted these things take way more time than they should to get filmed, edited and get correct, rules wise.

The 2d20 thing took roughly 40 hours to complete. Imagine being a RU-vid creator having to do that two/three times per week. Yours still does the job nicely for newcomers!

Any explanation yet on why the ability scores and the associated die type don't seem to be tied to one another as far as increasing? Thanks, great video!

At this time I've only seen the quickstart, so I don't have a real answer for you but my understanding is character advancement is going to be handled through the acquisition of new skills, and I suspect some of these skills will increase the die type and others the modifier. I will note that I couldn't find a single example of the modifier being larger than the die type, so that might act like some kind of control for it? These are all just guesses though. We will have to wait and see! Thanks for the comment!

Wouldn't it be easier just to count all the damage roll instead of having to subtract the defense value? Seems like an extra calculation step. Do you think it's really necessary?

You don't subtract the defense value. Defense value is the number required to hit the target. Armor rating is subtracted from damage, as armor is a soak value in this rule set. It is only a factor for players and high difficulty monsters/NPCs. Most creatures and NPCs will just have a threshold value, and no armor rating to be concerned with.
