Fun fact! Nobody gets out of prison and wants to face the trauma the prisons facilitates so you'll never ever hear about how wrong the prisons are. You get out to a world that says "don't do crime" so what's the point? You complain in there you get thrown in the hole and ignored for weeks. You accept your PTSD and warped brain as the new you and beg everyday for freedom from the things in your mind.

No one is making them use drugs. Prison is not a country club. They do more for the inmates than they do for senior citizens who were productive citizens of society. Yes, they are human, but you do the crime you do the time.

Our family has not had communication since July 30th 3pm. I did receive an email dated August 2, 2023 that was processed. The conditions are bad. The emails over the last few years of the issues have left us calling attorneys and calling the police. The staff refused to get my brother pain meds after a surgery that were prescribed, so I called 911 to get him medical attention. I finally got a call, and they said they were getting him pain killers - it was just a "process". The issue was neglect and the clear lack of any organized and human process. They are allowing drugs to get in to the prison and alcohol - yet they don't allow the ones not on drugs to have properly prescribed pain killers (we are talking Tylenol not narcotics!) when actually necessary. And it was not even a narcotic he was asking for! It was anti-inflammatories and normally over the counter pain killers. They neglected his hernia surgery so long, it got larger and larger until it required a mesh (I am not sure if it was a component separation process added). The doctor prescribed an order that did not require he walk three levels three time a day for food. When that expired, the new nurses and doctors refused in writing to renew it until another doctor would reorder it.. forcing him to endure skipped meals as he was unable to get food. One kind guard did assist him to his cell after making to a meal one evening by letting him use the elevator. But that was not the norm. The point is - it took months to get in for the surgery and major neglect the entire time. The first surgery was cancelled because the staff provided him with drinks in the morning and THEN told him he had the procedure scheduled. We have letters and emails to both Greensville and the State of Virginia with medical and drug complaints for this prison that have gone on for years. No one is listening.

I can totally relate to what you are saying. These issues exist because the State of Virginia has allowed its prisons to become privatized and run by outside companies. The way the inmates are treated is total bullshit. I'm so sorry about what you all have been through. It seems, unfortunately, to be so typical of the way these prisons are run!!!!!!

And for those people on here that have made smart ass comments about this, it is not a joke nor is it funny. Karma on those of you that think it's funny

I pray people can speak to their loved ones to verify their alive, but i didn't know you're allowed cell phones in prison.....

You are not allowed cell phones in prison. The only way an inmate can communicate with their loved ones is either on their tablets or if they can use the phone in the pod. Unfortunately, there are always inmates in there that want to cause drama over the phone use. Problem stemming from the fact that there is only one phone in each pod/unit and there are at least 90 inmates in each unit.

What about being concerned about the CO's

It’s hardly any in there, they are safe sitting in a room watching tv and on their phones in a lobby. Rarely near the inmates.

I have a son incarcerated at Greensville Correctional 😅facility also. I, too, have not heard from my son since July 30th. This is ridiculous and absurd!!! No one there is answering their phones because they are purposely avoiding having to deal with the backlash of their actions.

They did not answer my call or my mom's, but my sister finally got through. They said they plan to open visitation back up. However, they did not tell her anything about the 45 deaths over the last two years, 3 over the last few days, the inmate escape from the hospital or the no injury fires. They are supposedly contacting the victims families, so we are not worried if we are not being contacted. We are worried if we are contacted. The complete shot off to the outside world for this long is unacceptable. I am available with years of documentation to VDOC and Greensville - and hope an attorney will take a class action suit against this prison on behalf of these inmates for enduring drugs, alcohol worse than on the streets, chronic medical neglect - I have made contacts for two inmates in severe pain AND medical neglect and one died after being neglected with covid. It is ridiculous - and needs consequences.
