+Tommy Haynes relax , it's just a few extra seconds wasted out of your life. It's not like you were doing anything more important with your time anyways.
This video shows the real profesionals like Slash who keeps on playing the guitar and Bruce Dickinson who keeps on singing. And then you have the amateurs: Marilyn Manson (attacking your drummer because there's something wrong with his kit.... seriously?!?!!! That's just sad) and Lordi playbacking on a show (that's about the lowest you can get....).
Xander Jowett McFetters Then it's still kinda sad. Why not just trying to make good music instead of trying to get attention for faking bandfights.....
+tominatorxx Well you can't blame Lordi for play backing because there where forced to playback at that festival. The organisation told them playback or otherwise do a acoustic set.
The Bruce Dickinson fall just shows what a champ he is. He's more concerned with getting the mic back to his face then he is with righting himself, you'd barely know anything happened from sound alone.
I CONCUR!!! Especially with Hetfield. I remember that pyrotechnic accident as if it were yesterday. Then Axl Rose came in and DID NOT save the day. His name should be Asshole Blows.
Ian Cruickshank I was a fan of MM but I think this was one of his biggest fails on stage, the way he acted just made him look like an asshole; and eventually, the disgrace to the band was his very self.
Don't know if someone has commented this before, but the apparent "fail" of James Hetfield taking his hand off the guitar while still playing is possible. [Edit] He was playing an open string [/Edit] and only need his picking hand. People temporarily drop their fretting hand all the time while playing patterns like this, mostly to look cool ("Look, Ma, no hands!"). Also, not really a fan, but I feel for Slipknot- just trying to put on a good show, and their equipment fails them.
Look again. When he "drops his hand" he actually taps the security guard on the shoulder to make him look to the wrong side... That's why the clip is in there. More of a win than a fail. James never fails.
Oh and ...And Justice For All is not played in drop tuning. He was just playing the low E. They just create such a huge sound that it sounds like a power chord :P
Yes, I saw this the first time. I guessed (incorrectly, maybe) that the alleged "fail" of James was him taking his hand off the guitar and still having it play- you know, playback fails being a theme of the video. But fair enough. James DID fail pretty hard with the pyrotechnics in 1991...
......On the original video from the Linkin Park clip (can't remember the name for it) the uploader said the audio had fucked up on their camera and shifted it out of sync...... Linkin Park's live shows don't have playback, in fact, they're well respected as one of the best live bands out there. Just look up their Madison Square Garden show or any of their Rock am Ring shows.
They're well respected by who? And I'm sure they have used playback once in their life, not every singer can maintain an acceptable voice every concert.
They've won tons of awards for their performances and are well respected by royalty, actually. Prince William to be exact. Famous directer Joss Whedon have even stated that he enjoys listening to LP. 30 Seconds To Mars, AFI, Metallica, and EVEN SNOOP DOGG have or are about to tour with them. And as far as playback, they don't use it, they cancel shows when Chester is unable to sing seeing as he has a track record with getting really ill or injured on tour.
This is sort of like saying Justin Bieber has never used playback. Also the royal family can suck a nut, and Joss Whedon has done good and bad things, mainly bad, not sure why you mentioned that though lol. Being respected by people in the industry means really nothing to say that they use playback or not. The video didn't look out of sync either, but that's just an opinion as well as the person saying it was out of sync.
Alienart One of the Metallica ones is from the ill-fated Canadian run they did with Guns N' Roses, where the pyrotechnic misfired while James Hetfield was in the same spot (no,that one was NOT to go off,but somehow did,and- it was a freaking mess, both figuratively AND literally.
the bands introduction doesn't need to be fucking longer than the clip itself, i'm sure most people already know who they are and if they don't, they don't care
+Ebola Chan The guy shavo was attacked by was john dolmayan, just a friendly fight tho, but shavo ended up with a scar on his head beacause of darons guitar hit his head lol
Haha you can't notice any difference when that "percussionist" from Slipknot drops his instrument and throws a tantrum........ Why have they even got him in the band? It's stupid..... He may as well play a fucking triangle
Jodoin Maxime I've seen them live, all through highschool I had a friend that was mad about slipknot. He played them to know end. Needless to say I'm quite familar with them, and still I don't know why they have him.
Why do I always get dragged into watching this stuff?!?! These videos are like virtual black holes sucking you in and transporting you to an endless line of regurgitated "fails" comps. I need RU-vid Anonymous.
@@PandaInforma It was up to the organizer. I read that he wanted them to play playback to a CD and Lordi said, they should at least use mp3 but they didn't have that. That's what I read, not sure about what's true about it
Man, that 10th century ogre at 6:40 can really play that drum, and doesn't even necessarily have to hit it! He can just look at it, kick it, or throw sticks toward it and it still plays. Incredible. I also just realized the guy at 7:39 can do the same thing with a guitar, but he doesn't even have to look at it and can also talk at the same time!
Agreed, I found it annoying and didn't watch past LP, which I didn't even understand what the fail was? Also the audio levels, as with so many amateur videos, are all over the place.
+instantsurgery You're making a very common mistake here, but I'm gonna help you see where. You're mistaking his ability as a drummer for his ability to not be a greedy, power-hungry, manipulative, man troll.
I was going to say that's Chris but my fellow maggots already corrected you. I can see how you'd make the connection because they're both percussionists but the long ass nose didn't give it away?
+Chomp That's today's world and the sanity-killing cancer of pop culture. The fact there can be someone like Manson (surely you realize the name purposely rings of the mass murderer's) that can get people to pay money to watch his freak show is beyond absurd. Oh, the replies will be "you don't understand" or "he's not what you think." Something you notice when studying history is how people easily relate to huge blunders of the past when they read about them, but are completely blind to them happening in their own time.
Oh, no, Dobb.. you are the first person to have noticed that Manson's name is a combination of a female celebrity and a serial killer... as were many other former members of his band. Congrats to you on figuring this out about 20 years after everyone else did. You're so smart!
Crowdsurfing in a rubber boat, letting a fan climb in, and shake hands like brothers, has to be the coolest thing i have seen in a loooong time! That's how you treat fans. Trying to give them the best time of their life. Not lip-sync and rip them off ffs.
Rolling Stones were lip syncing on TV when Jagger dropped his harmonica. The cameraman zooms in on Jagger empty handed as the harmonica segment continues. The look on Jagger’s face was one of my fondest memories.
the biggest fail here I think is with Metallica, not with the pyrotechnics which should never happen. But how they treated Jason Newsted. He was always the new guy and they had to keep hazing him to like, 'toughen him up' to be in the band. Lars said they never really stopped hazing him. Til he quit. And they've never been good since
Tbh I just think they were a hell of a lot better with Newsted. The new bass player just looks, and sounds like a homeless Mexican they picked up on the side of the road. Right after Eddie Murphy dropped him off
Jason nuestead is/was a killer bass player, listen to justice for all.then live they cut his bass volume, and dick with him constantly then force him out because he wanted some creative input then they let Robert T. have creative input,GO FUCKING FIGURE.napsterttalica
Hetfield live on stage faked IV using and crying b/c AIC couldn't start or finish the tour b/c of Layne. Now he cancels Australia/ NZ to run back to rehab. FU, you washed-up hypocrite!!!!
oh. still don't have to say something about someone like that, that's fucked up. you wouldn't want someone saying "too bad it didn't happen" if you almost died, know what i'm saying?
William Hudson you do know people read this and wonder "what the hell are they talking about" by only reading part of the replies, right? And no, I'm not taking sides (before anyone asks), just stating the obvious. (And I remember seeing the MTV report on that Metallica/ Guns N' Roses show. You could tell Kirk literally saw what happened. )
Tiziano Fratini I agree, I saw the original clip of that concert, someone edited it so that more and more people will hate them. People these days -_- God save Linkin Park!
Gotta love Metallica though. Despite the fact that it was a fail, James was so cool and casual about it and decided to dance instead. Man, that guy's so cool. Also, 9:16 AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA classic.
Andrew Zeleno Hey there, I'm not a Megadeth fan but you should respect other people's desires and what if you, for example is a fan of a singer or band and I would call them "Losers", how would you react then?
Re: Metallica - Apart from the obvious pyro balls up, I saw no other fails; just the usual shenanigans you get with all their shows. The Lordi clip was utterly glorious tho' (probably the best fail I've ever seen), so thanks for that!
Just saying, don't hate bands for tracking, because not all of them are doing it to avoid an actual performance. All bands need to perform, and promote their music to make a living. That means having to deal with gigs that aren't suited for live audio, which are most commonly TV shows.
+PsychGoth Most self-respecting bands dont play with a track or lip sync. System of a Down fucked up their live show on MTV in protest of MTV calling them by the wrong genre of music, Nirvana didnt even try to fake playing when they were forced to play to a track.
I only like one of those bands, and I would still say that is bullshit because I have a thing called standards. Fuck you are all assholes, but thankfully terrible things are going to happen to every one of you, and if you ever wonder if I was responsible, I was, and you deserve it. Have a miserable life!!
Metalcore Michael I take out the brown acid wasn't floating around that night? I've been to plenty of shitty band's concerts and had a blast Mike, and lemme tell ya, it didn't have anything to fucking do with the band!!
+N. Hale Green Today's dumbed-down culture in a nutshell right there. Any popular "musician" today could just set up a bunch of lights/explosives/circus-apparatus, hire a look-alike to lip-sync, have some no-talents man the instruments and then just play all the studio-doctored songs off a CD through a massive sound system, and everybody goes home saying they "had a blast." Shallow ain't the word.
Linkin Park's fail = fake. The playback version is wrong. Someone probably put the audio of one (where Chester makes a mistake) and the video of another concert over eachother.
I remember when that accident happened with Metallica. Guns n' Roses was supposed to go on after them, but when James Hetfield got hurt and they couldn't continue the show, Axl Rose refused to go on early and it incited a riot.
The last Metallica one where Kirk had to switch out guitars before Ride the Lightning, that was kinda funny.. Seem Metallica quite a few times and James always gives the guys a hard time, but the best one was when Jason had an upset stomach and had to go back and take a dump, and James came out and told all 20 thousand plus of us what Jason was doing. So, he told Jason jokes during the wait, and jokes about the local mexican dives in Phx and that's what made Jason sick etc.. and then when Jason did come back James made fun of him some more.. This was in Phx, Jasons hometown crowd.. How embarrassing, but it was funny.. Jason just took it in stride.
I couldn't find it.. It was a local festival in Phx called U-fest. It was Metallica headlining with Jerry Cantrell and Days of the new opening. This was back in like 97'/98'. Before cells had video ha...
