If you put on a costume from aliexpress that fits well and put on some makeup it can look amazing, so low budget really isn't the issue. They had all these millions and still made it so bad
This is actually the reason why soon most of this jobs will be replased by ai. Big corps hired clinical idiots and now look with pikachu face why they efficiency is low. And because most of top-management themself dont understand what they doing during low qualification they most likely think that problem just in humaninty and replace people with ai will solve all problems (spoiler its don't)

Concord's characters look like the result of some twittard or redditard taking normal characters from normal games and "improving" (mutilating) them. It's always the same pattern. Take a beautiful characters and mutilate them. Make women ugly. Make men unmasculine.
0:28 This one is special. They kept the bulky armor. The AI managed to make her attractive without making her wear bikini-armor. That is f*cking impressive.
The original looks like the oversized obesity female tried to snap plastic plates to her body. The AI generated looks like a green version of Warhammer 40K Sister of Battle

The Ai Updated one is a love child between Halo Spartan, Metroid Samus and W40k Spacemarine. I Also like the adition of face paint, it tells a story of a warrior from a far away tribe, chosen by the elders to don the sacred battle skin and carry god's mission.
We now know who created these characters and her fan art of, for example Neon Genesis Evangelion, looks like it came straight from this game. She made Asuka look like a man. I swear that women is just a grifter that has managed to infiltrate a gaming company. She has no business in the AAA market.
@@MangaGamified yeah really confusing if you think about it Not someone, but a group of AT LEAST 5-10 people on the top had to see Concord and said "Yes lets put hundred of millions in this and it will be successful" I did manage to reach the rank of Marketing Manager, I know how corporations work so I am totally qualified to discuss this but I am just a kid still compare to ALL the executives/directors at Sony, there are definately more qualified/experienced than me in any sense of the word and they still pour money and time into this? Devs who made concord characters basically never understood they were making a videogame. Characters are supposed to look cool, goofy or cartoony. Nobody complains about anime/cartoon character's design in regard to human body proportions, its an anime/cartoon and people watch them and value other aspects. Videogame characters need to be appealing, they need a "wow factor". People need to be able to see game pics and say "man, this game looks awesome! Wanna try that gunner and make multikills!". Current design and gameplay is stale and tasteless. As many other character designed stated, Condord characters look like npc or background characters, made to not stand out or catch players eyes.
Well, this game is for self-inserts. What the devs don't expect is that those self-inserts never play games, they are too busy doing their job on Twitter.
I disagree... these devs knew exactly what they were doing... they were just blinded by stupidity and tone deaf approach to what the industry and gamers actually want. They basically said you will like it because we said so... and people told them to pound sand to the tune of $400 million wasted...
1:00 even ignoring the overly sexy body, that helmet alone is a massive improvement over the original design. Just something with a more distinct shape and futuristic look to it. Like I don't even hate the idea of the sleek smooth bodysuit that the original design has, but that awful plastic bucket helmet just ruins it. It needed a really cool helmet to bring the minimalist bodysuit design together.
AI is actually better at character designs than some of the major game company character designers and not only that they make them look more memorable than they are. The fact that AI understands what people actually wants is kinda scary but I mess with it😎
@@Dr.W.Krueger Yeah, as impressive as these improvements made to Concord's characters by the AI are (even I hate to admit it's a massive improvement). It's still A.I art, all it's doing is just absorbing things created by humans, mixing them together and then regurgitating it back out.
@@clawyraptor9029 they're still good for storyboarding and placebo assets, and generating ideas, I think the style is getting plateau now since the regulation, especially the lighting.
@@thewhyzer Seeing some of the gameplays vids, it looks like the arenas are also similarly pastel and bland-ish colored. The characters actually fit in... If they are mooks. Characters basically can vanish in the props, but enemies are highlighted in red anyway (your mates are highlighted in blue).

The fan service aside, the AI design is amazing. The characters are instantly likable and just look cool. If CONCORD came out with these types of designs then just maybe Sony would have had something nice.
I get it, hate on concords abysmally bad designs but don’t throw any sense out the window. These designs are equally bad for the type of game they went for, would of still flopped hard.

If it was a highly attractive woman in boring clothes you would rate that "design" better than a well designed character who didn't have overly glaring S*x appeal. all good to have your taste, no hate but when arguing on good character DESIGNS, that wont cut it, physical "assets" don't play into design quality aside silhouette.

As an artist myself, I can say that AI only delivers good art when a human with good taste and a keen eye for aesthetics is working on the prompts and selecting the best results. Nice job, @Hocyxa
100%, as an AI user alot of attention has to be paid to style and composition, also utilizing things like inpainting to touch up mistakes and the like. I'm not saying the skill set is comparable to an actual painting or drawing, but there is know-how and technique that has to be learned for the results to be good.
Concord desing theme must knows how to desing characters because you can't even make that by accident, you have to ignore every existing rule, is like when miles got a 0 in his exam, only posible by him knowing how to avoid the right choises
If 99% of people prefer the AI slop to the source, the original author should reconsider being a character designer. Maybe reconsider being an artist altogether. Same goes for the art director.

The problem with Concord design never was that they weren't capable of producing decent looking characters, the problem is, the DEI infection make them think they already had decent looking characters... Of course, everyone but the devs already know that...

@@exoticbreadstick8661 Their definition of diversity is different from yours. Yours is probably along the line of 'multiethnic soviet people'- showing as many nationalities as possible as cool. Normal for video games with wide character rosters. DEI's definition of diversity is 'abnormal'. So if the field is full of whites, add blacks. If the field is full of blacks, add gender stuff. If the field is full of gender stuff, add alternate body forms. And if the field is full of good aesthetics, go for bad ones. There is no bottom because if something is done enough it becomes accepted and hence normal.

Behind the AI there is a REAL character designer inputting prompts. AI does nothing without a human giving it commands or programming it beforehand. The difference is in the quality between the designer who programmed the AI and the Sony design director who approved the original designs.
Outside of a couple misfires, most of these are like a 100x improvement. They actually look cool. The funniest thing is it totally retains the all important diversity they want, it just.. actually looks good. Nobody would have been complaining about a lot of these.
The AI is scary good. It also illustrtaes perfectly where games like Concorde go wrong. People play these games to be those characters, They have to make you want to do that.
Now someone would create a new game called “discord” with this new characters and be an hybrid between the first descendant and overwatch or something else maybe cod
