At this point I feel like we need to start a group about judging on whether a game is going to flop or not, and whoever gets closest to how many people end up playing that game will win a prize, the game itself will just die, but the whole point is to make fun of these flopping games in order to help incentivize other game devs of what not to do.
Best thing about this video is that it shows gameplay of mrs. freeze. So this guy was one of the 100 people who bought that DLC. I'm guessing the 99 others who also did just played a bit to get some video to put on the background to talk how shit everything is. :D
@@cirescytheWhat they don't seem to understand is that LGBT is attracted to *fun* characters. (For example, Persona 5's Phantom Thieves, if you ask the Ao3 community.) Fun doesn't get attracted just because it's LGBT.
I have never seen more sauceless character designs in a game before. It's like they looked at a 5/10 sci-fi movie with mediocre CGI characters and said "yeah, that's it!"
There's a bunch of pseudo sci-fi/space opera schlock made after the success of Star Wars, they look even worse than this game. You can't never underestimate Hollywood, their talent is something else
that describes most of them, but whose idea was the woman in weird makeup and ugly green blobby armour? or the expressionless lavender robot? the color palate for a lot of them sucks
I love that changing the colors of your characters armor used to be free. And now in this game to change the shaders it is 10-20 bucks... PER CHARACTER!!!!!! What a wild time to be alive
If Sony is so hell bent on live service games, here's a few ideas for them. - Bring back Killzone - Bring back Twisted Metal - Do another PlayStation All-Star Battle Royale game - Put Last of Us Standalone Factions back into development - Tell Arrowhead to get their heads out of their behinds so Helldivers stops nose diving into the ground 5 options, all 5 are infinitely more profitable than Concord.
@@coltonwilkie241 they were making a live service twisted metal, it got cancelled after the shutdown of Playstation London studio and I think it wasn’t shaping up all too well
@santiagoherrera1853 Yeah I know. I hope they give it another chance though. If the show was any indication of how much people like Twisted Metal, there's clearly an audience for it.
Why are we still saying "free updates" like its a Feature and something we should be glad about? Free Updates (modes, characters and weapons) to multiplayer titles have been Standart for over 8 years now
To make said statement even more embarrassing is the fact Fortnite has free updates, and it’s free to play. I think they’re comparing themselves to Destiny 2, which is free but has paid expansions, and that’s why that game doesn’t have the same level of appeal and popularity as Fortnite
"Free updates" is excuse for release unfinished game and hope enough players buy and play it to buy you time to finish the game and release the content via "seasons"
@@markhettenbach3141 and also graphically too the games looks really polish, i just think the games its competing for players with are just better( overwatch) and are more fun( marvel rivals) and they are free, so its kinda like if u can play those why play this ? even if this game was really good, given all its competition are free, its still an uphill battke
@@1TheMIUif it wasn't fromsoft, id be a bit scared about what a remake would mean. Eitherway i doubt that'll happen, would absolutely take it if it did barring something extreme happening in the background.
This game is such a mystery. There have been plenty of almost identical looking flops in the same genre spanning the last 3-4 years, more than enough time to pivot away into some kind of new niche or at least a unique visual style. The publisher and devs all saw Lawbreakers, Hyenas and Allstars Destruction all fail. Instead this game has apparently stuck to its guns the whole way. They think it has a chance, I just don't get it. Sony too have decided that with all the revenue generated from their now well-established niche of high fidelity, polished single-player games, they would invest that into a multitude of failed live services games. They established a speciality they're known for, then immediately chased for the market shared already competed for (and dominated by) 100 other companies. It's madness.
I think Gamers need to make a game show called The Flop awards, basically the show consists of Gamers betting on which game will flop, and whoever is the closest to how bad the Flop is, will win a prize, while we all make fun of the flop game. Sounds like a grand old time does it not?
They pivoted so hard for live service games and I don't even know why. And they aren't even doing a particularly good job at that either, yeah let's make Naughty Dog do a live service game, what could go wrong?
Battle bit had more people, and that game was an indie game, it still has more players that are current, but the peak is not very high anymore, I think they hold $2,000 now, but still that's more than this game has lol.
Having finally played it myself, Deadlock is a shooter leaning more into being a MOBA but with a lot more movement, and I'm WAY more interested in what that game is and what it's going to become than any part of Concord.
Or as Dr disaster describes it, the imaginary audience, cuz they never seem to show up for the games that are made for them and yet they demand for more of those games but will still never show up for those games.
Meh. People said the first thing about Lost Ark and The First Descendent. I give it a month before it ends up like those games. Pretty girls can only care your free to play P2W trash for so long
Marvel Rivals also reached that number in a closed beta (people literally fighting for keys lol). Dare to say, among these "arena shooters" with "heroes" elements (which means cooldowns abilities, the Team Fortress formula), considering this near future were Rivals takes over the lead, Overwatch dying in a corner among all these other options, only a game like Team Fortress 3 can compete at the mainstream level. After 8 years of Overwatch having a lazy monopoly, the genre is stacked now. If Concord was released back in 2020~21, the apex of the "woke" trend + zero competition besides Overwatch, I think the game would have been popular enough, at least on the same level of Paladins... but that ship has sailed
@@fallenstars8775 Core gameplay loop is absolutely solid and probably better than that of overwatch 1, pretty sure Mecha Break will become one the big online pvp team games and maybe even sizable e-sport
it is just fucking baffling at this point, they must have a ton of absolute evil quislings telling them what people "like" and straight lying to them to convince them over and over to not deliver what we want.
Concord is a game tailored for the Modern Audience, and now we see that the fabled Modern Audience is about...2000 people. Big crowd... very lucrative market.
Dude shut up about this modern audience nonsense, Overwatch is actually tailored for a modern audience with a diverse cast and constant micro-transactions that people are always willing to pay for. This game just has horrible character designs.
@@14ElmStreet28 Exactly, a lot of people (me included) love OW not just because it's fun and entertaining, but because the characters are AND look amazing, they all look bad ass and they actually makes you say "damn I wanna main this character" and the cosmetics are just top tier for the majority of cosmetics
@@14ElmStreet28 Sorry little buddy we will continue to laugh at you. The Marvels ( 2023 ) failure proved how you can't stand on your own without leeching the success from something bigger than claiming the "victory" for yourself as if you've done anything. We don't need you, we don't want you. This game was designed from the start to appeal the "modern audience" just like Suicide Squad and it failed just like we all predicted ( told you so ). It makes Overwatch look conservative and prude in comparison.
Companies will make dogshit games with pretty decent monetization practices, but dogshit cosmetics. Then blame the monetization strategy for the downfall of the game, only to go back to predatory tactics.
They only had two fat characters, which ugly characters are y'all talking about? I think the designs are bland and boring but they're not all ugly. It reminds me of MK characters
Concord totally could have been PlayStation characters. Sky copper, jak, everyone. Only fighting the way they do in their own games. That would have been awesome
Absolutely. Maybe even with a dimension jump mechanic during matches and characters out of the respective dimensions have a slight advantage. Like sly blending a bit into the background or Aloy being able to cause a grazer stampede or kratos who could trigger qtes in certain areas.
concord is like that one friend that keeps referencing a joke from years ago, and it got old really fast but you still feel bad bc his delivery is on point
"We have a roadmap!" So did Anthem, the Avengers and Overwatch 2, and it didn't save any of those games. Also, screw paid games with microtransactions. Either charge me a full standard price or be free.
@@TrevorFosterTheFosterDojo nah probably not. Marathon is a game for a different audience. They're not going after the audience that plays Destiny. It's an extraction shooter worlds different than what makes destiny 2, destiny 2. I have no interest in Marathon either, not that that means it's a bad gamme, just not a type of game im interested in. I feel most people in the D2 community feel that way, and that's to be expected.
Same. I see the comments “but it’s a different player base”. Yeah. Whatever. I think bungo would WANT some destiny players but at this rate they are actively making destiny players mad at marathon.
I truly hate how dire the situation around this entire game is. There is currently a CLOSED BETA for an UNRELEASED, UNANNOUNCED Valve game called Deadlock that has 15x the player numbers the OPEN BETA WITH FIVE FREE BETA CODES Concord had. I expect a studio closure in about a year.
If you go onto the concord subreddit, those people are the definition of pure copium. They literally cannot accept that their game is dead on arrival and won't survive one year. Seriously, go to the subreddit, it's actually funny as hell.
tbf most game subreddits are fanboy echo chambers, so I'm hardly surprised the verbal minority dominate, as that's reddit game subs in general and don't dare mess with their mass delusions.
To be honest with you, even that game looks like Play-Doh, and I could never get into that kind of game anyway, only stupid little kids can get into that.
@@lucifermorningstar8387 but when that audience never shows up, ya know the infamous "MODERN AUDIENCE", what are they targeting at that point? these people almost never show up, they do their little activism shilling over a game they want, but once that game drops, crickets.
Overwatch is not really that much better, characters like Illari and especially Venture, they look so generic. Venture look ugly as hell, zero charisma. Overwatch had good designs back in 2018 or something, but ever since it's hit or miss
2:37 Does anyone really think that way? They already have the content for the first few seasons ready to ship before the game even released. So you sorta pay 40bucks for stuff you will get later on "For Free". Its like the same with Suicide Squad, You cant tell me that the Se01/02 Stuff were all fresh build after release and its more of left over stuff they already had planned to throw out before then ending the live service next year.
Concord as a shooter isn’t a bad game. I played it. But the overall uninspiring design choice isn’t gonna sell anyone. Who ever was the creative designers on this game need to be fired.
Apparently they're from Bungie. Which just sounds wild to me. You'd think people from Bungie would know how to make an inspiring game, but then again, Destiny wasn't all that great either.
@@14ElmStreet28 well it kinda impacted this game bc they went way to overboard with the whole all inclusive bs. Most gamers just wanna play as cool looking hero’s not flamboyant over exaggerated characters.
@@tmnttiny who cares? If when halo 3 was released it said in the settings somewhere that master chief is he/him and Cortana is she/her nobody would fucking care, pronouns don't ruin games, bad management ruins games, also one last thing getting mad at pronouns is the dumbest thing ever, everyone has pronouns, literally everyone, he/her/it are all pronouns. People gotta get over this shit, it really doesn't matter, like if your life is so miserable that pronouns are what anger you than idk maybe you weren't cut out for this world because i promise there are much worse things to get upset over
exactly. its not to reach a new audience. its simply blackrock calling and giving millions for every satanic agenda the client implemented. but nethertheless, its realy funny that realy nobody buys that shit.
If I had to guess why this is being pushed out the door, the answer would be office politics. Everybody already knows this is going to flop, especially Sony; there is no way their execs haven't sat through multiple presentations telling them this is going to flop. IMO Sony is looking to clean house; once this bombs, they can use that as the reason to drop most of their 12(?) live service games currently in development, do massive layoffs like other companies, and close studios.
We heard from the first round of Bungie Layoffs that Sony wasn’t interested in Marathon and wanted Bungie to focus of Destiny. With so many canceled, Sony no effort with marketing Helldivers 2 and no shit given with arrowhead nerfing that game into the dumpster. I legitimately think Sony will only put out the live service games they think are too far along in development to cancel.
The game is DOA, this is what happens when you make a game targeting an audience that doesn't actually play games. Stale looking gameplay, ugly characters, forced DEI, ugly cosmetics, all for a $40 price tag. Literally what is the appeal? I hope it bombs and serves to be a lesson to the industry that people don't want this trash.
@@santiagoherrera1853yea the pronoun thing which is completely off as you dont create a character. So its basically forced upon you without any use for those that want to express themselves. And the roster looks very forced. All colors and orientation, but basically everyone is some form of quirky millenial character. So the usual DEI downfall where you have diversity in characters thaet have to fit into a certain mold, which hampers creativity. But zero diversity when it comes to thinking, acting or morals of the cast.
When this game becomes free to play, at 5000 players your individual experience is worth 30,000$ to developers at which point I would potentially play a single match.
OH WOW, new vignettes? I gotta get this game now! its amazing how universally crap this game looks...the visual fidelity is clearly high but the art and character design are just atrocious.
@@ChrisJanes-n2byou mean the bigot brigade, the I’m not racist sexist or homophobic I just don’t want these people to exist in reality or fantasy crowd?
Ooh, Mr. Luke Stephens sir, I do like the lighting in your recording studio/room. I especially like the mini castle in the background, it adds to the mood.
Funny enough this game does pass the tip of the tongue test in some areas: "you know that basic looking hero shooter that has boring characters designs, boring gameplay, and all the character's pronouns on the selection screen?" "Oh yeah, Concord." That's it honestly 😂
And that will recoup the 50 million production expenses? If not more than that, they bought the studio, they produced fancy CGi trailers, cutscenes, etc..
The characters are just so inclusive and investor board designed that I don't believe the game will be telling any kind of story with appropriate grit and tension as a "Space Cowboy Merc Company" premise would make it sound like, no matter how "free" it would be
Yeah , for me I always find it weird when you are fighting the same character you picked on the opposite team, like in apex or w/e , I prefer these hero style games to be co-op .
I really do think the problem is a lot of companies really don't get that the market is SATURATED. Everyone that likes hero shooters is currently playing a hero shooter. Gamers shouldn't say "Oh it's Overwatch but X" cuz you don't know is something will click and be good but DEVELOPERS need to say "Will this be able to pull people from Overwatch or Destiny 2?" instead of pretending there's a whole world of people that just haven't found their niche game yet.
I think this is the trick. The reason a game like Mecha Break is able to get decent numbers is that there is no current equivalent. Nobody else had the guts to say “6v6 mecha PvP game” and follow through with that gamble. I personally don’t think Mecha Break has the chops to be a massive super success that will last years, but it will be profitable for the company and fun for gamers for a few months. But aiming for an underserved niche market will get them some business.
The funniest part is the devs ignoring trailer feedback that the game looked cringe and told everyone to wait for release like bro why would people play a game that looks boring let alone costs $40?
It's not like Overwatch is looking enticing or anything, Juno does look fun and charismatic, but that's it. Still, the bare minimum from a horrible game like Overwatch "2" still looks better than Concord, oh boy
Releases the same day as Black Myth Wukong, OW2 new season, Space Marines 2 just a few days later and COD Black Ops 6 Beta being just around the corner on August 31. They couldn't pick a more worse time to release a game.
Always bothers me when an alien with a vibrant skin colour has skins that change the skin colour. Imagine flipping through Tracers skins and in some she's black or asian.
To me “skins” that the only thing they do is change the color pattern of a character is not a skin…it’s a color pallet. To me a skin changes the physical look of a character where they don’t look like what they originally did, which doesn’t take a lot of effort. Cause I did see some skins in the preview that added some clothing pieces, changed the look of the gun, etc. But it looked like their “skins” are majority just color changes…
It's a shame that a reasonable monitization model is attached to such a bad game. It will fail, and evil corpos will forever point at it and say "See, we must use exploitative pricing models, you won't buy it otherwise"
Kind of like Halo Infite, because it did so poorly no one thinks “maybe the battle pass the customer bought should be their forever and to complete at their pace”.
2 Seasons planned tells me two things They have no confidence in the game They have TOO MUCH confidence in the game ETA: That black woman with the goggles and the hair buns. OOF. Her face reminds me of Bask Om from Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, only way less interesting, uglier, and somehow more villainous looking. That creature is somehow a hero.
I played Mechabreak, that beta had me thinking of the game when I wasn’t even playing. The gameplay was exiting, pilot completely customizable and the mechs looked and played so great. As for Concord I wouldn’t bother playing for free.
Is it shocking? $40 no fomo or battlepass, I’ll take it. Game knows its not gonna be everyone’s main mp game but a change of pace from fortnite, apex and warzone. Its gonna be my second game after apex. Loved the beta and how its more weapon leaning than ability compared to overwatch and marvel rivals.
I can see some Halo and Destiny players gravitating towards this game, the classic multiplayer experience of old, you pay the entry price and that's it... but it will be a very small fraction of players, this game will either force free to play or enter on maintenance mode in 6 months tops
Not a single cosmetic or character looks appealing to me and that's incredbile to say because I've played so many games and at least something about their microtransactions called to me to spend money but with Concord it's just so unappealing it's crazy...
I'm just not interested in playing a Trans gay black grandmother as a character. I'm the average person average PC gamer. And none of those characters speak to me.
I'm not so sure to be honest, Suicide Squad still isn't free, Texas Chainsaw Massacre isn't free, Killer Clowns isn't free, Diablo 4 isn't free. These companies are really stubborn. Even though these games aren't making them that much money right now or ever, they still refuse to just bite the bullet and make them free.
@@coltonwilkie241True they can be stubborn but also super impatient if money is not flowing in fast enough. Lately a lot of "triple A" publishers do not let games grow naturally. They just want fast growth as fast as possible.
