What a rare opportunity to have taken footage of this legendary mechanical achievement paying a visit to the Fiji Islands in 1985. Wow! Thanks and Bula!!!
@@jerrysavage1317 Yes, I think it did. I was in junior secondary school at the time and remember reading in the Fiji Times that a bus travelling by the airport during Concorde's take-off lost some of its windows due to the sonic boom.
@@Shelbourner OK - maybe it came back in 1994. I had left Fiji by then. Quick Google search didn't show Concorde landed in Nadi in '94. BTW - Concorde rotation speed on T/O is just over 200kts so no sonic boom. The t/o noise is very loud though. I was very close to the runway when I filmed the T/O & the noise level was VERY high!
@@jerrysavage1317 Thank you for explaining sonic boom. I now understand it better. I will try to look up the Fiji Times archives to check. It could be that my memory is playing games with me. I couldn't have read it in 1985 because it was still a year before I commenced Class 1 in primary school. Thank you for your clarification.
Most certainly did return around that time, the teachers at Nadi Airport School took us down to the runway fence to watch it take off. Will never forget that.
Stunning video, in a beautiful exotic location. FF or "Fox Fox" & SD or "Sierra Delta" did the bulk of the Air France Round-the-World charters, being the 2 lightest in the fleet. No Concorde did more laps around the globe than "Fox Fox", 13 in total and no vehicle as ever gone round quicker than "Sierra Delta", he still holds the out right record set in 1995.
