In this video, we are discussing the grades of concrete how can we use different grades
in PCC(Plain Cement Concrete) and in RCC(Reinforce Cement Concrete).
Grade of Concrete Proportion
M5 1:5:10
M7.5 1:4:8
M10 1:3:6
M15 1:2:4
M20 1:1.5:3
M25 1:1:2
In which (M5 - 1:5:10)
"M" is for Mix
"5" is for Compressive Strength of Concrete (in N/mm2)
"1" is for Cement
"5" is for Sand
"10" is for Aggregate
Why do we always use 28 days Compressive Strength in Concrete (cube) and not 20 or 40 days?
We use 28 days Compressive Strength because it gives us total strength in 28 days.
For Example: Here, we can use at least three concrete cubes (150 x 150 x 150)mm are cast for each mix at 27 degrees Celcius
and they are tested in a laboratory at 28 days. Its mean strength is calculated at 28 days and that is the strength of concrete
for that particular mix.
- In 1 day it gives 16% Compressive Strength
- In 3 days it gives 40% Compressive Strength
- In 7 days it gives 65% Compressive Strength
- In 14 days it gives 90% Compressive Strength
- In 28 days it gives 99% Compressive Strength
