Flow control is simply a water reducer. Less water in concrete = more strength. Nice job Mike!

Mike at Modustrial Maker came up with the caulk method and you missed a crucial step. You lay down a coat of paste wax first. It helps the concrete release nicely and it keeps the excess caulk from sticking. (Haha yeah, you said it as I was typing!) Mike also makes a ton of awesome concrete projects!

Super video Mike. You are one of my favorite you tubers. You put things in layman terms so it makes sense. I built your lumber storage rack after watching so many videos of other people. You’re the best. Keep up the good work. 👍

Michael, I started watching your videos a year ago after retiring, you inspired many cool projects. I’m excited to do my son’s bath countertop soon using the concrete, crushed glass, & resin method from this video. I’m going to add some river stone too, like I did on an outdoor bar top I created last fall I learned a lot from that project). I hope to also start a RU-vid channel soon… Thanks for your inspiration!

Can you do a video on the Asphalt Resurfacer? I think you can use that if you have a bunch of big cracks on blacktop driveways. Would be a great video since there is only like 1-2 on youtube. Then you'd use normal driveway blacktop sealant after.

No 3/4” AR glass fiber or fiber mesh , don’t use uncoated polymer seal metal mesh which will flex and cause cracking over time with expansion up grade to AR glass fiber or basalt fiber mesh this would help out more for lasting reinforcement but great work on the vanity once again thanks for sharing

@MichaelBuilds
@MichaelBuilds Год назад
Thank you SO MUCH! The best and easiest way would be to rent a pressure washer and hose it down with an all purpose cleaner pressure washer fluid. If the dirt and grime is still being stubborn, you’ll have to get a concrete etcher and scrub it really well and then hose it off www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-1-gal-Concrete-Etch-and-Cleaner-301242/206495770 Then seal it with a concrete sealer that is UV resistant.
@KarnivoreKaren
@KarnivoreKaren Год назад
@Michael Builds thanks so much for responding. I got our pressure washer out of storage and will start working on it today. It has lots of grease/BBQ stains so I bought the concrete cleaner. Deciding weather to stain it before sealing, but that will depend on how the cleaning goes. I'll take photos of the process if you are interested.

I am wanting to make a slab (next to my shed) with stepping stones (that I made out of concrete) and various pieces and types of tiles (that I went dumpster diving for, lol). My stepping stones and tiles have a variety of shapes and thicknesses. I am wanting to put them together to make something that resembles a mosaic walkway/slab theme. Problem is is the differences in thicknesses. What type of base would you suggest using to put under the stepping stones and tiles to where I am able to mound it up to put the thinner pieces of tiles the same height as the stepping stones? My ground dirt, right now, is a variety of sorts (I live is south Texas). A little red clay with dirt and sand. Along with the base, what would you suggest to use to fill in the joints? At first, I was thinking concrete to fill the joints, but now watching this, I am thing mortar. My original thinking was to put a layer of cement gravel (some type of small rocks), then put a layer of sand (IDK what type), then put a 1/2 inch or so layer of dry pour concrete down, then lay the stepping stones and tiles on top of that dry pour cement, and then add more dry pour concrete in the joints around all items. But I don't think the tiles will adhere to the dry pour. I know they do adhere to wet concrete (I have some tile in my stepping stones), but I will be doing this myself and yes, I want to try a dry pour. Any suggestions?
@shudderclaw7197
@shudderclaw7197 Год назад
Will any resin attach to the concrete? Did you seal the concrete where you poured the resin? And how did you make sure resin and concrete stayed flush?

Thanks for another great video! Those look fantastic! Any advice on how to raise a small concrete slab? I have one in front of my barn. It is angled wrong and when we get heavy rain, the water goes into my barn and pools up. The area of the floor where it pools is now cracked and a small depression is there. Now that it's finally warming up here in SE MI, I'm hoping to fix this sometime this Spring or Summer.
@joecorey3779
@joecorey3779 Год назад
Watching the video, it looks like you sprayed WD-40 on the blue fire glass, does that effect adhesion to the concrete?

It's actually a fondant tool that is used to form the silicone seam. The key is that you have the right size. I don't think your bearing was a good size.

I just tried to make a similar counter and mixed two 55 pound bags of rapid set at the same time. The mixture never became fully fluid, using an electric mixer and with three bags of flow control. it ended up setting on me before it came to a fluid and I actually broke my hand. Should I not mix more than one 55 pound bag of rapid mix at once?

I recently poured a top using the mortar mix and added a bottle of black dye hoping it would make it black but when it dried it turned out gray. So if your shooting for gray that might be the way to go. I used one bottle to one bag.
