Concrete Godfathers/repair spurs 

Because I fit the trellis along the front to grow plants. If fitted properly it won't make a difference

Just wondering, does it make a difference to the amount of support given to the original post if the godfathers are on the side rather than the face of the original post? I need to support a fence along the drive and godfathers on the side would give more drive space. Cheers Mike

@@paddlermike if fitted properly the side is fine. They haven't moved since. Get 18 inches plus in the ground.

Coach screws. Avoid over tightening 👍

@@dagtailgroundmaintenance Also...if you leave them in you'll leave one side of the godpost without any concrete against it and as the post rots the concrete post won't be secure. I've got to do a few myself and am trying to work out the best way.

@@ChrisLee-yr7tz, there was concrete all the way around the godfather. There was only enough wooden post to screw into. The rest had rotted away so no wooden post was left in the ground. I always aim to get 18 inches in the ground.

More than enough. Never had one fail. On the side because trellis went on the front.
