Concrete cutting is no challenge with the right tools. A cut off saw with a diamond cutting blade cuts concrete like butter. Beyond renting the concrete saw, the blade is your only other expense. You can buy one on Amazon:

This worked great for redoing the shower/bathtub of my kid's bathroom. ru-vid.comUgkxfiuHoZJo3bgdVPFRxQ-iqPpfbEHl2cYt I didn't like the guide, so I took it off. I just used a fine tipped sharpie on the tile and followed that line. It does make a wet mess, and once I started looking like I wet myself I started wearing a towel and apron while cutting. The blade it came with worked great until we wore it out. It was better than the replacement one we bought. I tried looking for just their blade, but failed. Not really for larger tiles unless you stack stuff on either side to support the tiles. Anyway, would definitley buy again.

I would add one thing. Don't operate a gas saw with the unit between your legs. You need to stand to the left of the saw in case of kick back. You will also be less likely to get hit by a piece of blade if you break it or a one of the teeth comes off. This is especially important if you are using an abrasive blade and cutting steel or rebar. You should also run water when cutting concrete. It eliminates the silica in the air, the blade will cut cooler and smoother, and your blade will last a lot longer.

Hi, I appreciate it is not a new video so maybe you don't read comments. I am out for advice. A tradesman cut some concrete slabs for a project in my garden. He did dry cuts and now pebbled paths and part of the lawn are covered in dust. I have noticed that in your project there are plants and some bark or something decorative in that garden. Just wondering if you then do something to remove or contain the dust from those areas, as walking on or just wind may cause breathing it in, which is harmful? Any advice?

Great video! I am trying to cut the 8" foundation, to lower the garage man door by almost a foot. That is a three foot horizontal cut, it's going very slow. I am wondering if the blade is ok. looks ok, but I only have about 3 inches deep X 3 feet , in almost 3 hours. too many breaks, but at 60 plus years old, I need them. wet cutting. Is that slow?
@Housebarons
@Housebarons 4 года назад
Hey jmack619, Yes, that does sound slow. I would make passes maybe an inch deep at a time? That way cut debris can be easily ejected. If you rented that saw, I would not be shy to take it back and complain about the blade. That sounds too slow. Tell them you want a fresh blade. Doesn’t hurt to ask.

ALWAYS use water :) And always start the saw before you put on all that protection gear... mainly because 90% of the time that saw ain't starting till you play with it for a while (think weed wacker, chain saw, lawn mower).

Good video mate. I've got a stihl ts400 and a partner k650. Both geared up with diamond blades. I used the k650 to cut out a second doorway into my neighbour's brick built shed yesterday. I got home from work and the old fella was scratching away at the brickwork with a 4" electric grinder and a hammer and bolster. I asked him if he needed a hand..? He accepted my offer immediately. I came back 2 mins later with the k650 and told him to step aside. (Just like superman does in the films 😁)..! I cut out the opening for his new door in about 2 mins max for each of the two cuts. I glanced at him through the dust at one point and he had his fingers in his ears with a big grin on his face. For any type of masonry cutting, a diamond blade is a must IMO. As you quite rightly say,.....a diamond blade goes through stone like butter. 👏👌🤝👍

@@Housebarons hes in his 70's now. So he won't be needing a petrol saw. He would've struggled holding it at 2m height to start the cut. It would've taken a month of Sundays to get the job done with a bolster and a 4" electric grinder. But the k650 didn't even flinch. Everyone within 500m must have heard it screaming, and literally every car in the street had a layer of fine orange dust on it. Fantastic reliable bit of kit and its unstoppable with a diamond blade on it.

So it’s going to be my first time cutting concrete, is it really that easy or am I making it out to be harder than what it is? Some please tell me! I’m trying to mustard up the courage to do this!
@Housebarons
@Housebarons 3 года назад
Hey I, The saw certainly is heavier than a circular saw. But you can let the weight of the saw do the cutting. You don’t have to really muscle it to do the cutting. If your saw has a water hose feature, you can stop all the dust by connecting the hose for water. If you are cutting dry, DONT do it without a respirator. Silica dust is very bad for you! If you can hold the saw comfortably, then I think you’ll find it an easy cut. Word of warning: make sure the blade you use is fresh. Before you rent a saw, go to a big box store and check out what a new diamond tipped cutting blade looks like. You want to make sure the rental center gives you a blade with plenty of cutting life in it. The saws are loud. But they cut concrete like butter. So what are you wanting to do? What project? Thx for watching!

@@Housebarons thanks for the tips! I’ve watched a ton of videos on how to cut concrete however, this being my first time tackling a big project like so is nerve racking if I mess up! Hey I, Sounds like a great project to learn on. By the time you are done, you’ll be a pro! We have a video on demo hammer use: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WMkTKDOMuZg.html Don’t be afraid to grab one of those too. They make breaking up concrete a breeze! We also did a walkway last year with separate concrete pads - if that could help. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TDie7nSMYho.html Take your time, respect the blade - it’s not sharp to the touch, but spinning - it will cut flesh. Let us know how it goes if you get a chance. My guess is, you’ll be surprised at how well it cuts. Have fun!
