I'm an ER doc and I don't want anyone to be deceived by the happy go lucky music and tone of this. Concussions are serious and sometimes leave life long effects, mainly headaches and cognition problems, but sometimes vertigo and mobility issues. If you got one; rest and take it seriously.
Is it possible to have gotten a concussion and not known it? I was a passenger in a car accident when I was about 18 and was knocked unconscious for a minute or two… I didn’t go to the hospital, the EMTs didn’t seem concerned, tho I definitely had a killer headache. But I’ve definitely struggled with some of the the things you’ve listed since.
@@FilmedbyShellbro there’s always this one person in the comments. Like yes he was her spotter and that’s why he was there, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be appreciated that he did a good job, especially since some some people don’t even really try at their jobs. Whether it’s his job or not we can still give him a round of applause for being ready n’a spaying attention.
Please know that accidents happen, but each head injury makes the risk of another one worse. No matter how much you rest, it can be lasting damage. I’m glad you’re doing okay :)
@@loco5456 is it so necessary in the context my real question is do high divers for whom it's a mental game solely and people interested in such need to hear about such a thing? And get like bots and the like to support mommy's smothering love, fear and all that? This is a sport in which no matter from what height the very best divers are able to sense cold air right above the water line and straighten themselves out enough to avoid said injury., where the braver you are from the start the better it ends up for you. And this IS the propaganda in the form of this bum creature original commenter doesn't have the heart to do it and just knocks it If theres no limits to smothering selfish cowardice then there's no limits to me calling it out?? Fuck the police So yes Its propaganda lmao and where OP has their right to spread verbal poison I can administer some reality for the pussy. Heads up, you gotta DIE in life and it'd be nice if everyone knew exactly how everyone goes :) if you're shot in the head you can't even feel the time between bullet hitting your center mass versus entering your skull. There isn't even enough time to comprehend what's going on with any of the 5 senses. If a nuke blows up at your feet it's the exact same, you have to DIE!!!!!!!!! so if some people wanna go high diving why knock it? Cause you're a pussy???? Honestly cant help myself when I see a girl that doesn't get enough... LOL which is clearly the case with this OP. N honestly wish them and their cucks wouldn't exist in a world where I do upon reading this id love to see any person act on this notion and just have all the power I'd fucking push them over and right after they'd be begging for another go. Fuck off.
After a certain height, depending on angle of entry, it can be 'soft' or CONCRETE. You know this. Take care to get a lot of rest. See a neurologist, just to CYA. Good luck!❤
Some waves build up so much tension in the trough that the water compresses and is as hard as concrete, so if you bail wrong, you’re getting a concussion while surfing.
Yikes! I received the first of three concussions when I was 19 years old (I’m 62 now). I worked in a grocery store and a shoplifter tried to hit me. I jumped on her hood and she took off with me clinging to the edge by the windshield. She floored it and I just let go & hit the pavement. It happened very fast. I’ve had tinnitus ever since. I had two other concussions since that happened around the same time due to automobile accidents. Only reason that I bring it up is I have suffered the effect since it happened. Do what your doctors tell you to do to heal!
OMG!!!! I hope you feel better, honey!!! My goodness! You're so brave and you have some stones, obviously, to dive from such heights. Always be careful! 😊
@@piiinkDeluxe yeah but you could see them swimming faster than they did in the first video. they knew something was wrong, those people are incredible
@@ThisIsMeArnold my dad is a nurse with 30+ years of experience. I could easily answer this, i just don’t wish to. I only replied to receive notifications when the inevitable argument blows up
@@miarachelrose Pretty pathetic to fail to advance from a nurse role after 30 years of employment. I'm sure you could answer the question if you wanted to, sweetie.
Hurting my head on the board during a backflip off of the high dive in high school, screwed with my psyche so bad that I eventually quit the team. My mind would never let my body feel unafraid of that dive again. I did it successfully many times over in practice but it was through sheer willpower and forcing myself to do it. One day I felt my hair brush the board when I hadn't gotten enough height in my rotation and it set me back to day 1 of trauma. Shaking and unable to steady myself, that was the end.
Thank you for talking about this, i’ve also had a concussion from diving too! It wasn’t from so high up but it really disturbed my routine for months and i had to care for myself while some people didn’t believe me thinking of how safe they perceive it to be
I got my first concussion this year playing adult soccer. It was a grade 2 concussion and it truly took 3 months for me to feel normal I hope you’re resting!!
It’s so crazy to think that she made a mistake. And explaining it like jumping that high all the time was one little error: She’s that good that the .2 second error she made resulted in head injuries Like wow hun, you’re so talented! I respect every sport that puts themselves in danger. You’re amazing Molly!!!!
When you hit the water from either up high or down low when going fast, the water is just like concrete. I got a concussion water skiing from just skiing fast & jumping the wake. A boat had purposefully crossed in front of us just as I went over the wake. Their boat caused a wake that hit us perpendicular to our boat & as soon as I went over the wake, their wake hit & my skies went straight into it. I hit the water so hard I instantly felt sick & boy did my head hurt!! Glad you're feeling better!!😊❤
PLEASE take the time you need and listen to your docs! It’s the best thing for your success as an athlete💕 And thank you for sharing-shows people who look up to you that mistakes happen and instead of embarrassment, you learn! Happy Diving!
Rest is super important immediately following a concussion, there’s so much more research on this compared to 20 years ago when we were expected to brush it off.
I hope you feel better, I got a concussion doing my sport as well. I am an equestrian and my horse decided he wanted to throw me while he was cantering and I got a concussion and Whiplash 😂 I will never forget that day even if my memory now sucks more than it did before.
I had a concussion by falling down the stairs twice in one week, it was such a freak moment. It affected my memory for a bit and that's when I realized I need to be careful. Thanks for this reminder and please take care of your health. I hope you feel better 💗💗
Please be careful Molly I love watching you dive and your bright demeanour brings warmth to my heart everytime I watch one of your videos so all the best from England
to those of us NOT going this fast or from this high, we generally call that a face plant. Worst thing we get is a snoot full of water and an involuntary sinus flush! I am glad to hear you are feeling a little better. Most important is rest and follow up with your dr and neurologist to stay on top of that concussion so it heals properly and you can get back to doing what you love.
I was only a high school swimmer and did some dives off the three meter platform in the summer public pool. I appreciate your excellence a little bit from that but mostly because I used my body everyday to work. Spraining or breaking some bone every once in while made me grateful that it had happened. It made me appreciate that I was human and doing dangerous things so it re-doubled my efforts to be alert at work and those smaller dings undoubtedly, in my mind at least, kept me from doing any irreparable damage to my body. You amaze me every day that I watch your dives and being a sufferer of anxiety I feel for you there as well. For me these days riding a motorcycle at ninety miles an hour gives me zero anxiety but a high state of alertness. Standing in line at a grocery store however makes me want to scream with the anxiety it brings up in me. Your joyous spirit is uplifting and I’m glad for you that you will be at the Olympics. You will be a necessary part of bringing the excitement of your sport to millions of people because face it. Without a proper explanation of what is going on, swimming and diving can be boring to watch.
I came off a jetski at speed. I hit a wave and flew, and I walked like John Wayne for a week. Meaning at speed, when you hit water, it bloody hurts. Well done for showing your honesty and overconfidence and the consequences that can happen even as a professional. ❤❤❤
My worst fear is traumatic brain injuries from hitting the head on the diving board or initial head impact and then drowning in the water. I don't even dive! You're a really brave and courageous soul for being able to this. Stay safe and have fun! ❤
Did swim competitions so my only experience with “diving” is the two foot dive from the diving board into the water at the start of each race (except back stroke). Its wet most of the time, but usually keeps good grip for your feet. One time however, i must have kept my foot a little too far back and when i went for the dive, my back foot slipped. Since i didn’t push off correctly, i did end up slamming my foot on the rigid diving board. Hurt a whole lot but not enough to keep me from swimming. When i climbed out the water, you could see a cut/scrape on my foot. “Scariest” swimming event was a common occurrence but in a bad place. Had a cramp on my leg while swimming in the deep side during practice. Pain kept me from moving my legs, but we had trained before to just use our arms before, so it wasn’t too big of an issue. Just swam to closest wall and pulled my self out.
This only triggers my anxiety more... I'm impressed with your encouragement to not give up even after getting a concussion... God bless your wonderful brave soul.
Oh my gosh, I'm glad you're relatively okay. Bless you and kudos for mentioning respect for the sport. Take it easy, take care and you rock! Shout out to the guy who immediately swam to rescue you too. Timing is critical when something like that happens.❤🙏
Thank you for sharing this! It is so important to casually see that even with someone so professional (like you are) , there can be mistakes, and that we are always and always will be in a process of figuring some things out. Rest and get well in the time your body needs
Thx for sharing this. It’s very easy to watch your videos and think how easy it is. Or that you just jump and it’s perfect. There’s so much training, mental focus, and concentration involved. Stay safe. Praying for you.
Good on ya! Showing the fine line that your particular sport represents between emerging from the water all smiles and looking at the scoreboard to having to be assisted out and holed up in bed. Much respect for a true sport. I couldn't and wouldn't even try a single dive, let alone many times a day
Best lesson you can teach is it takes a split second to get in trouble. You make this look so easy. Making sure new divers watching know this is real !!! Such a great job 😀🇨🇦
having had concussion myself tbis time last year on dry land at the age of 63, I empathise with your bad heads and vertigo etc. I also sported 2 black eyes, so dark glasses were mandatory. Stay safe, sweetheart. You're precious ❤❤
