9:05 It’s amazing how she never lost her smile even when the tournament seems to slip away from her. Round 1: course record -8. 5 stroke lead Round 2: -3. 6 stroke lead Round 3: +3. 3 stroke lead Round 4: quickly lost her lead early on and was +4 after the front nine. If you put other professional golfers in her shoes, i bet most of them would slam the club after a bad hit or swear after missing a putt out of frustration. In gee kept her smile throughout the round. What’s really amazing is that she almost retired before the tournament. her coach told the press after the tournament that him and In Gee talked about possibly ending her professional career before entering the tournament feeling defeated after many years of winless years. She had an emotional call with her sister and decided to give herself one more shot. I can see how frustrating professional golf can be especially after experiencing a success early on in her career. You are working on your game harder than ever, but feels like your best days are behind you. That must have felt very defeated. After a blazing first round, i am sure she felt like the god is on her side and finally responding to her prayer. Then imagine how she must have felt on 16th hole tee box on the final round. What appeared to be an insurmountable lead (6 strokes after 2 round) has completely vanished. Now, you are 2 shots behind the leader with 3 holes to go... still keeping her composure in check, smiling at the fans after the hole-out. My hat off to her. What a woman!

I wonder if her temptation to retire is triggered more by her struggles with clinical depression rather than her results on the golf course?

I was really happy In Gee Chun won, but Lexi really missed some opportunities here. Her putting stoke just seems really inconsistent and stubby. Am I missing something? How much is she working on her putting? That par putt on 17 was a terrible stroke. Her ball striking is undeniably one of the best, but her putting is preventing her from winning more majors. What a shame

that was a really good write up. I have always been a big fan of hers ( ask anyone that knows me ) , I first saw her on the replay of her US Open win . I thought and still think she has the best swing in all of golf . Plus , she's a sweetheart of a person . I always , always , always pull for In Gee . I never gave up on her !!! !!! !!!

Lexi's swing gives people hope that "I can do this with my swing!!!" but then "oh.. not really...😢" impressions. When there is a clutch moment, with that kind of bad habits take you to the dungeon. When I see InGee Chun's swing as a golf instructor, definitely copy her swing, ladies. Very well balanced, followed thru, high finished, beautiful swing that is. Especially pretty smile with nice organized mental status until the end of the round. Nice grasping emotions that could almost easily lost her victory. I love to have my daughter become like her. VERY WELL DONE, INGEE. FIGHTING!!! 정말 축하합니다 🎉😊❤

One of the best rounds this year!! This really was the last two putts, Lexi makes, it's tied and forces In Gee to make or a win, Lexi missed, but then forces In Gee to make or into extra innings!! This is why I love the LPGA so much more than the PGA, the number of absolute last hole nail biters are astounding on the LPGA, they are all just so good and so evenly matched. I don't remember a dull tournament this year (or last year, even?). Great job staying in the game In Gee.

Gawd, I am so very happy for Dumbo. Her determination and commitment to push through her personal struggles is very inspiring. THAT is the story the LPGA, Golf Channel, and other outlets NEED to latch onto and vigorously promote. Enough of the LIV/players slander campaign. You want to grow the game? Then, put this sweet, honest, and relatable LPGA Champion on every promo and story lead for the rest of the season - Dumbo's story will surely resonate with MANY current and potential golf fans.

As someone who's battled the chipping yips, I feel for Lexi. The knee-dip and fall back are dead giveaways. She's got 'em with the putter also. She's got a great beauty and physical presence. I'd feel so bad for her...if it weren't for the ball-marking transgressions, which she finally got caught for. And the denials about that and her collapse down the stretch at last year's U.S. Open. With a multiple-shot lead, she shot 41 on the back 9 at Olympic and stated in her post-round interview, "I'd be the first one tell you if I hit a bad shot.", implying that she didn't. Sadly, her mental toughness and connection to reality is quite weak.
@MoMoMyPup10
@MoMoMyPup10 2 года назад
I think she's quite the sensitive person, and almost timid, unlike most of the other top players. Maybe a little uncomfortable with people looking at her. No eye of the tiger. A little bit of adversity and she folds, and it's snowballing as she gets older.

Yesterday, Saturday, In Gee Chun hit her third shot on the par five 15th hole way left under some shrubs. She had to take an unplayable lie and measured off two club lengths to see where the ball would be dropped. Before the drop, however, the rules official informed her that if the ball rolled back into the unplayable lie, she'd have to play it. This is interesting and I don't understand the rule. I see players all the time drop the ball once or twice and if it rolls back into the area dropped from, the player is allowed to replace it. Is the rule different when dropping after an unplayable lie? Some of the rules of golf are unknown even by the most experienced players. I'd enjoy attending a seminar on rules where we were on a course and the rules officials explain the rules, the various methods of relief, and take questions from those attending.
@coopdivi
@coopdivi 2 года назад
When a player takes relief and drops a ball, the ball must come to rest within a semi-circle as defined by the type of relief -- usually one or two club lengths in radius and no nearer the hole. If, after being dropped, the ball rolls outside that semi-circle, the player must drop the ball again. If the same thing happens on the third drop the ball can then be placed within the relief area. This situation normally occurs on a steep slope. If, as in In Gee Chun's case, the ball is in a shrub, you are allowed various relief options, one of which is a drop within 2 club lengths of the ball's original position (and no nearer the hole). However, if you take a drop and ball rolls back under the shrub but is still within the allowable semi-circle, that's where you have to play it from -- or declare it unplayable again and take another drop and penalty stroke. In Gee obviously thought the lesser of the two evils was to take the 'stroke and distance' option of playing her next shot from where she hit her original one, and accepting a one shot penalty. Your observation about players placing a ball applies to the situation where their ball ended up in a penalty area, usually defined by yellow or red lines and/or stakes. In this situation they are not allowed to drop within the penalty area, so if their ball keeps rolling back into it after being dropped, they can then place their ball.
