Sis you spoke a word on here!!! I think it’s a great idea to get a condo. People don’t understand the full effect of maintaining a home period and you never want to be House rich and cash poor. I can’t wait to see what you do cause if it’s anything like your fashion we’re in for a treat!!! Congratulations again!♥️
Sis, l will be closing on the condo I'll be getting in mid to late June and coming across this video has only confirmed that the decision I made was the right one! You truly spoke to me! God's blessings to you always.
God is so good, I needed this, I'm about to purchase a condo, and some of the things you said really designated with me. I can't wait to get in there to decorate and enjoy my new home.
Speak! Single Female and everything you are saying speaks to my whole situation and thought process. I live in NC. Same housing situation. I also put in an offer on a condo and the offer was accepted. move in ready with hardwood floors. I will make a few updates. Getting my unit for a Great Price well below my pre qual offer. I will still be able to bring in a 1/3 of my pay and be a homeowner! Congrats and good luck to you!
Just wanted to say...thank you for making this video. It is now 2 years later, yet I am going through the same issues of: seller’s market and gentrification, in trying to buy a home in Michigan wow! So now I am looking to get a condo..
I appreciate your video so much. I stumbled across this video, lost it, and I've searched and finally found it again. I'm in the process of getting my own. Unfortunately I'm not surrounded by supporters so this video made me felt like...I had company. Someone who feels exactly how I feel and what I'm going through. I don't live in the US though, I really wish we could connect in some way but in the meantime, I just wanna say that I'm truly happy for you and may your home be blessed with love and awesome memories. Cheers to levelin' up my friend!!!!
I feel like God wanted me to see this video...I’m not subscribed to your channel but it came up as a suggestion...I’m currently starting the process of purchasing my first home and seeing this video reassured me that right now is the time! I’m also looking to buy a condo because i live in NYC and honestly I’ve never been a fan of houses lol especially because I’m 30, single and have never lived on my own! Thanks for the video xoxo
Well done Brittany, won't he do it!!!!!!! Start off slow then gradually move forward to what you want later down the road. Am happy for you keep striving.
Your story is similar to mine! Trying to buy in Denver and I've been looking for Townhomes because most have a garage, but they are being swooped up before we even get there to look at it! Going for $270,000+! My budget, and it is a stretch but necessary in this market, is around 220,000 for a condo or townhome. I may have to sacrifice and have a hard top out at 250/260 if I want something :(. Thank you for your video!
Look at god blessing!!!!! I really enjoyed your video. I feel much more informed. I just graduated college and I’m still at home but I’ve been thinking of maybe buying when I go instead of going to an apartment. I’m just trying to learn for right now, I think I may still rent just to get a feel since I’ve never been on my own. This video really helped me to kind of think more about what I want and what to do when I’m ready. Congratulations on the new home!!!!
I know how the housing market is girl so congrats! It's an awesome accomplishment... I work for a mortgage lender so i know first hand that right now is a sellers market and the cost of new and some older homes too is getting higher and higher! Smart choice
Congrats girl I'm happy for you buying a house can be very stressful I got laid -off a week before my closing but I know God was looking out for me. I know my day is coming and I also like condos and town homes I feel very safe! Your the one paying the mortgage so your opinion is the only one that matter!
In Europe, most people live in condos. Cheaper, less maintenance, less work, better location, access to all sorts of services, infrastructure, transportation, etc.
I live in Nashville and you're right, the market crazy. I only got my home because a friend family member was selling their house. Thank God lol. Congratulations on all of your success
Sis, this video is right on time! Like Nashville, Atlanta is a seller's market as well. Townhouses are as expensive as single family homes. I am paying $1300 for an apartment. Your thought process shifted me. Maybe I am not ready for a home, but am ready for a condo.
I live in Oakland and the market is definitely booming. Been here my entire life, graduated college twice, and cannot afford to buy. Makes me sad, but I am waiting for the housing bubble to pop.
CONGRATULATIONS! At this stage in my life (40's)I'm considering a condo; however, I'm not a huge fan of condo/apt living for the very reasons you choose a condo. Great video nonetheless. Perhaps I can find something with less of a community feel, lol. Subbing to see your updates. :D
This is exactly what I am going for here in Houston. I may not be able to get the area I want first off, but maybe my second purchase will be. Because I am the same, I refuse to pay rent when I can't own it. I'd rather have a condo I can renovate and live comfortably for a few years. I'm working towards getting the hi-rise apartment. A 2 bedroom for me and my son. I can't wait to move next year.
God is so good! I can relate to this video so much, I live in DC so our housing market is similar to where you are. I am also thinking of buying a condo or townhome, I just started my housing program so I am excited, nervous and saving!
Pay off any frivolous debt, Make sure your debt to income ratio is where it needs to be for the type of loan you are trying to get, and make sure to search all loan options! You'll be surprised at how many products are available.
Brittany you should not feel embarrassed about purchasing a condo, not many single women are capable of such a great accomplishment. I bought my first place when I was twenty one and I've never rented another place since. It was a fixer but I jumped in and learned how to do a few things to improve it. You will be thrilled when you do your taxes next year and get your mortgagee interest deduction too! If you can get yourself to a place where you can save for your next place but keep your last and rent it out , and can do that a few times, you will have a nice little nest egg when you are ready to retire!
Loved this video!! You made great points! I think when i buy my first home it'll definitely be a condo. I like the security, being single. Woo i love what you said, you made the right choice for you without thinking about others! I think too many ppl get caught up buying what everyone els is buying. I love your place 💕
Congratulations my dear Brittany. I got my first property at age 30. You are so wise and so humble. Be always proud of your accomplishments! You are a role model. I am in my 40s and I admire you.
I bought my house last year I was 32 like you I wanted a townhome but God opened up the flood gates I ended up purchasing a new construction 4 bedroom single family home. The maintenance isn't bad at all it comes with a warranty any problems I call DR Horton. I do however mow my own grass but I enjoy yardwork. Congratulations on your purchase!
daise19 see I’m about to be 20 and deciding on condo or house... crazy part is ima allergic to grass so I break out bad that’s the only thing stopping me but I might have to work around it
Girl, you sound like me. I will soon be closing on my condo. My SFH fell through. My son will be a freshman and I prefer him to stay in his district. I never considered a condo. But, as you say God is in control. I’m a single mom, will be starting my Master’s this fall, working 2 jobs. I also asked my closing cost and got it. My mortgage with HOA dues is the amount I paid in my apartment. I sacrificed for 2 years, moved back with my parents and I’m 38. Trust God is in control, we just have to trust the process.
LaToya Marie Congrats honey...something I did..sacrificed & moved back home with parents for 2 years and it will be 2 years in my condo November of this year....
Tajae J I needed the encouragement. This process has been so stressful for me but, I’m glad I sacrificed. I want my son to always admire the fight in me to provide him with a better life.
I purchased a SF home 8 years ago and let me tell you...home repairs/maintenance, yard work, snow removal and again repairs/maintenance is TOO MUCH for this chick! I’m trying to stay put until my son finishes school...we have 4 years! I will sell my house, downsize to a condo or TH in a gated community with HOA fees so that I can have hassle free living.
I am a 28 y.o single woman. No kids. I want to purchase a town home by myself but just the thought of getting everything started gets me overwhelmed. Im still saving money and talking about "one day..." ughh
xVvix xnNix Do not get overwhelmed. I find that women are the best at home buying because we never overlook the small details. Girl , live your best life. Do not allow fear or apprehension to stop you. It starts with a list( you can do that today).
The thought process is more overwhelming then the actual process. Just make sure all of your ducks are in a row, credit, money, tax returns, all your recent W-2's and check stubs. Also, make sure your bank accounts are straight.. don't open any new credit. You got this!
My advice is don't jump on the first thing you see and don't settle you will have some Realtors getting annoyed at all the houses you've looked at but that's when you remind them that it's your money on the line and your responsibilities financially and if they still give you attitude get rid of them and get another realtor trust me take ya time
Congrats doll! Great info. I really wanted a condo initially, but the condo fees here in the DC /Northern VA area are crazy (400-900 per month). I decided to increase my budget and get a Townhome. I just closed 60 days ago! I don't believe as a single woman, a single family home would have been the best move for me. Awesome, awesome video!
I never knew there was a negative stigma for buying a condo. I always thought it was a wonderful choice for ppl who wanted to own but, without the extra stress that comes with a house. So happy you stepped out of yourself and accepted what God had for you 😊 a lot of ppl wouldn’t nor admit they needed to humble themselves! Many future blessings to you!!!! 💜
I love the way that you acknowledge God...then know that He got you just keep Him first. The blessings of the Lord makes it rich and add no sorrow. Be Blessed can't wait see what s next❤️
Yes Lord! Won't he do it!!! Congratulations!!!! 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿 When it's Gods will it just works out! I can't wait to see the decor in your new home I'm sure it'll be beautiful
Congratulations on the purchase of your first home..you have to do what's right for you...no one's going to be paying YOUR bills except you...it doesn't matter what others think or have...there is great potential in your home...well done
Love seeing your perspective on the housing market as a fellow young black female entering her 30's. I think the housing across America is very overpriced and they're predicting a bubble bust soon. Great video ..girl I'm in the same boat I'm single with no kids 28 and really want a townhouse too
It’s like that’s where I live. Very much a sellers market. I got out bidded too. That’s why I went new construction the competition is too much. I couldn’t compete with people it was too stressful. And I love my house. There is nothing wrong with buying a condo. I think that’s what the young hip people do. Like u said ur in the home ur supposed to be in. ❤️
Thanks so much babe! I know I spoke to you about it a while ago. I was inspired when you purchased. I am very pleased with my decision especially now that I know this is where I'm supposed to be!
Hmm 🤔 ...you just gave me a new idea! I'm 26 y/o, single with no children, and I hate the idea of renting and fear buying a whole house. Buying a condo may be perfect for me during this era of my life. Thanks so much for sharing this. Congratulations on owning your first property 😊 ...Subbed!
Nothing better than having something of your OWN 💰🗣😌🙌🏾 I am 23 and I definitely feel like Condo living would be great for me I don’t have any kids so I wanna purchase a Condo within the next year or so time to MANIFEST thank you for this video sis ❤️
It's sad to say, but true. It used to be against the law to sell a house to a female. Those days are over with, long gone. It's no longer illegal for a woman to buy a house, and females don't need a husband or a male family member to get a house anymore.
Congratulations! Peace surpasses trying to keep up with society’s standards of “LIVING” enjoy your new space and I can’t wait to see how you style your home!
Congrats! This is so encouraging! I am currently a single and have a 4 year old daughter. We have been looking at homes for about 3 months, here in Atlanta. So I more than understand your statement about being from the city and can barely afford to live in it! It is amazing to see women moving into their own property and not waiting until they are married. I love it! God bless and I can't wait to see how you update your new place!
Thank you for sharing, I'm moving to Texas next year. I'm beyond excited, I won't purchase a house until I live there for at least 2 years. I needed to see this coming from a single women. I'm single, daughter is in college, I'm ready to move onto the next chapter.
I'm 25 and I live at home too, my parents said I can stay with them as long as I like, I love my parents we get along just fine, but I did study abroad in Japan and I stayed by myself and it made me want to live on my own, I want to move out next year but I have to pay some things off and I want a better paying job. I don't have kids so things are easier for me.
Girrrrl you up here preaching!!! I just came in the comment section to give my offering 💰💰💰💰💰 Great Success to you, keep on shining 🔦💡and Congratulations 🎉🎈🎊
Great nuggets of advice. For those still hunting for a home, I will also say that whatever amount your bank approves you for, try to stay way under that amount.
Im in the process of buying my first home... at first i was STRONGLY against condos/townhomes because i'm afraid of noisy neighbors, but condos/townhomes literally have everything i want. Before watching this i had no idea you lived in Nashville, I do too! I'm glad this showed up in my search
Love the video! I know you said people are comparing the prices of homes in Nashville to NY,. No comparison! I’m from NYC, you get a lot more in other cities for your money than Ny..... We are one of the most expensive cities to live in in the USA!
Congratulations!!! (The same real estate explosion is happening here too in Richmond, VA! A realtor-relative said it happens every 40-50 years. And yes, it does price out homeowners, via higher taxes, i.e., older residents)
Bless your home. I'll buy if I move out of state because in NY- forget it. A new co-op, not even a condo is selling for $855K plus maintenance on my block which is becoming gentrified. And I am in Brooklyn.
You can find co-ops in Brooklyn under $250K especially if you have the 20% down payment most of them require. I agree though that you get more house outside of NY for less money.
I'm currently looking to purchase a home, initially I wanted a single family home but like you said now I realized I can afford only a condo. Everything you said about getting outbid and all was to a T. But I'm going to pray on it. Thank you so much for this video! This is exactly what I needed rn
Congratulations!!! 😁😁😁 I also have a condo. I purchased my condo when I was 26 single and child free. I'm now ready for a single family home or townhome. My HOA management company drives me nuts with their rules and fees.
DO it, I was in same boat, garden style condo and I hated it, people above me and next to me, and constant stomping above me, will never buy this type of condo again! Switched to single family home and I am MUCH happier, more work, but that ok, I like yard work.
My 1st time watching your video and congrats to your new purchase! I could do relate to this video. I purchased a townhouse at 30 as well......I'm in my late 40's now. I had all these ideas of what I wanted and it was a different story when I actually started looked. I had to go to the opposite in of town in the suburbs......and I was a true city girl. But I prayed, purchased and am so happy and blessed. It's an older building and I need cosmetic changes desperately. I just took my time and did one room at a time. I'm still here 17 yrs later. Lol you're an inspiration to young women. I'll be checking out your home decor videos. 😊
Omg our stories are similar! I just moved into my house last month and I also got hardwoods for the low low this month!! Congratulations!! Thank you for sharing your story!!!
Enjoyed this video. Congrats & A huge thank you for speaking candidly and expressing your thoughts of condo vs Home. I agree with all that you stated. A resident in NYC, it is rough with the asking prices for the matchbox that you get. Love that you said "I Am Proud of Me" All orchestrated by God will align. Blessings
I love this. Its interesting to hear your perspective and the process of choosing a home to buy. I'm 30 as well, I'm interested to buy a condo, I've always viewed condo's as the perfect first home for young people lol.
Thank you so much for posting this video, this is so me and I'm currently going through the same process. Your testimony brought tears to my eyes because I seen me through your video. I appreciate you.
I am so proud of you, this is such a big accomplishment especially buying on your own. Nashville sounds like Oakland, CA right now. I completely understand feeling like your dream of buying a home in the city you were born and raised in would never come to fruition. Gentrification has completely made the market in Oakland unattainable for many of the city's natives. Somehow, i was able to purchase a single family home in this market 18 months ago. I, just like you, truly believe that Divine Intervention played a major part me finding my home and perfect lender. Unless other people are willing to pay your mortgage, the opinion of others does not matter. Congrats.
Same problem here in the UK. Villages have become desirable to the London elite, they buy holiday homes out here and barely live in them, meanwhile we who were born in these villages are having to leave to find houses because we've been out priced. I'm pretty gutted I won't be living in my home village probably ever xx
I'm struggling with the decision right now. I'm a single male no kids and almost 40. I've always lived in a house. I don't like the thought of HOAs and neighbors on all sides up and down. But I've seen some Conds and Townhomes that are very nice.
