Hi! Enjoyed the video. I recently purchased the Special Hobby version for $31AUD ($21USD). It's for the V2 and has extra resin parts for the retractable undercarriage and another sprue for the different wing with a straight trailing edge and the extra retractable undercarriage parts. It also includes 2 x vacform canopies as well as the injected one. All the V1 version parts are still there. The Special Hobby mouldings seem to be cleaner and crisper, especially when comparing the upper wing surface. The SH version is very smooth. They may have cleaned up the moulds or, I suspect, have better injection moulding machines. SH instructions/painting guide is much better (in colour and multistage, available on Scalemates). I'll probably build the V1 as the it seems the V2 may have never flown under its own power (only glide testing). The records are, understandably, sketchy. The original aircraft was destroyed in a bombing raid. Enjoy the build!
Very interesting kit, I did not know photo etched parts went back to 1996. The sprues and connected parts look pretty thick and part of the challenge. I hate to call these vintage :-) especially when my stash has kits back to the sixties. Like you said these types of kits are " fun" to build because of the provenance to modeling. Wondering if the family tree of this company is related to Eduards . Once built this would display nicely I could see it combined with a set of German jets too.
Not to be too much of a pedant--and I am not a native German speaker, so take this with a grain of salt--but I believe Heinkel is pronounced HINE-kull. Anyway, very interesting kit. A tad jealous as they don't seem to be in large supply and I've always been very fond of the early German jets. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Darrel! I've heard Heinkel pronounced several ways, and I'm not sure what the "proper" pronunciation is. I'll check into it if I do another Heinkel review. I also like the early jets, and I'm still looking for an Eduard He 280.
One major flaw of this kit is the lack of intake duct. It just has a blank that's way too shallow to convince. I'll probably 3D print one for mine, shouldn't be too hard hopefully.
