The #ConeyIslandCyclone is a #historicallandmark , a cult classic of #coneyisland , and an airtime machine. Since my younger years, this nostalgic beast was in my favorite woodies! Height:85ft MPH:60
It’s been in continuous seasonal operation for nearly nine decades (87 long years, to be exact). It is a classic mainstay of the old school roller coasters of the east coast.
I love coasters. No doubt. This ride scared the shit out of me. I’ve grew up in Brooklyn. First rode it td at 32 years old. I swear to god it feels like I’ve been in a car accident. I have legitimate bruises from clutching for dear life. Long live the cyclone, the last bastion of total insanity
First time I rode this was as a kid in 1981 when this ride was rickety. Lol! So glad it's been repaired and still part of the Park today. Definitely a Brooklyn staple. Great ride. Glad you guys enjoyed it 👍🏾 😊
@@bboleyngirl AND IM ASKING WHYY LOORDDD!!! (also like help me- ive went to litreally every of the cyclone rollercoaster POV videos and just commented "I heard that in 2008-2009 a choir rode this rollercoaster and died in a horrid accident when the front axle would break hurling the children to theyre death.. one of them lost her head and shes still unidentified. Also heard one had a fiance back in his home country where he had moved.. i think he was from ukraine?? Poor girl tho, i think she also only found out about his death like 3 months after he had died.. ")
no cuz i went here yesterday and i sat in the second row, mid weighted, single rider, and i almost flew out my seat on all the drops and kept moving back and forth it was so embarrassing
During our teenage years during the 70's, Mom & dad would load us up on the weekends and off we go, the cyclone was a body snatcher back then and still is today😂. Best coaster still today hands down!! Sweet Sweet memories!! #Nostalgic 👏👏
Listen up, this iconic roller coaster gives you two very distinct rides... what you just saw, front seat & tame by comparison, followed by its infamous back seat/row on its very heavy old trains. The latter being a very serious combination buffet of air time, jolts, train slams, whips, & etc that will leave you white knuckled all the way through. And yet all in a very secure & plush seat that millions have likely lost their bowels on over the decades (jk, maybe). The trains are what makes this ride what it is as they're very heavy, dated, and yet comfortable to enough to toss you around helplessly in and yet deliver you back to the station in one piece. To think they almost got away with replacing them with modern lighter ones recently. A move which would have certainly ruined the ride experience at the expense of less wear and tear n the tracks. Few classic woodies can deliver a ride like Coney Island's "CYCLONE" can, a functioning relic of the past and a national landmark that you can easily enjoy upon a summertime's visit to NYC.
Just this past Wednesday I rode this bad boy’s descendant, El Toro at Six Flags Great Adventure. The Cyclone was a lot of fun, El Toro was the most terrifying two minutes of my life. Wooden roller coasters are really something!
At 37 seconds, that groan is the inner passenger squishing the outer passenger. The seats are red leather benches. They are very very narrow and don't have any separations. I think there is a seatbelt buckle and the mechanical lap bar and nothing else to hold you in. Great ride I made many memories on.
Well I'm glad Coney island cyclone is standing and definitely a New York City landmark. In fact this ride is really is in my hometown of New York City.
My nickname for this coaster is “the laughter inducer” cuz me and my dad were laughing HYSTERICALLY the entire time, meanwhile my brother was being tortured behind us 🤣🤣 It was a bit rough but that’s overshadowed by how intense and fun it is!

I just rode it and holy shit I thought I was gonna fly out my seat through the cover they put on you. Def worth it trying it the video don’t do it justice 😂
First and only roller coaster I’ve ever been on. Couldn’t turn my neck for a few days afterward. Those aching yells in this video are legit! But glad at least to have done it.
Historical ride and thank you to those managing the Cyclone for showing respect while displaying the prisoners of war and missing in action flag and the American flag. The flags look respectfully flown and I appreciate it.
Cyclone was the first roller coaster i ever rode when i was 11 or 12 years old and it scared the shit out of me. And since then i have rode on my roller coaster including the hulk in universal to the mummy in univeral and all the Star Wars rides in Disney. To this day i have never rode on the cyclone since. But i will give it a try again with my 12 years old
Was an amazing ride, it's just the staff stink, dude assumed I jumped over and didn't pay and had me wait while everyone went ahead and I was super confused what he was asking, which was if I paid which of course I did, super embarrassing, and then the dude who scanned my card said I paid and the first guy had no, hey sorry about that or my apologies for calling you out in front of everyone, and the way it works is you don't wait at the seat it's first come get to go first in so although I should have been in the beginning I had to go somewhere near the back, oh and also its $10 just for this one ride, but yes the ride itself was awesome!
Went on the cyclone recently and my experience is a bit different When you did finally get to apart where it was on the floor the landing was super rough It felt like your intestines where moving inside you And trust me that hill although it does not look tall It Is terrifying. But it's probably the best roller coaster I've ever ridden
Agreed, ive been on the cyclone like 2 weeks ago and although the ride is really fun, its super rough and if you sit alone, it throws you all the ways.
@@nickdev553 luckily I was riding with someone else and was so terrified I started burying my head into them Can't imagine how ai would have survived without them
Its a ride you must go on if you are a legit NYer!! Not going to Staten Island or the Statue of Liberty is one thing, But not riding the Cyclone???!! Oh no, you get certified chumpsmanship status for that!
