I'm a born-again Christian I repent everyday. I used to be Catholic I grew up Catholic and my family's Catholic and the Lord saved me from Catholicism. you do not confess your sins to a man and you call no man father. God is our Father in heaven and Jesus Christ is our savior and our advocate. I confess my sins only to God in Jesus' name and to no one else. I don't need a man to absolve me of my sins and tell me if I say five hail Marys and ten our fathers that my sin is forgiven even when I was young I thought that was ridiculous

If you want to be saved and go to heaven, why not just read and believe the gospel of your salvation? Stop trying to forgive your own sins, and stop working for your salvation, because you can NEVER earn it. Payment for the remission and forgivness of sins required death. Bloodshead. You'll NEVER afford it. All the worlds sin debts were paid by the blood and death of Jesus Christ at Calvary. Have you not heard and believe the good news? The gospel? In the old testiment, remission of sins required death. Romans 5:10. Something, or someone had to die, because the wages of sin is death. Asking, praying, walking the isle, forgiving others to be forgiven, or rubbing rosery beads doesnt work because you cant work for a free gift, and this gift is unconditional. Jesus who knew no sin was made sin for you. He made peace through the blood of his cross. He was made THE perfect, living sacrifice for ALL your sins. 2Corinthians 5:18,19, Ephesians 1:7; 2:15, Colossians 1:20. Jesus isn't mad at you. He loves you. He litterally loved you to death. He reconciled himself to you, me, and the world. Sin is not seperating you from God on this side of the cross, your lack of faith is. Your sin debt was owed, and that sin debt was paid IN FULL by the blood and death of Jesus Christ. You dont need Jesus to atone for your sins, because it already happened wether you believe it or not. You dont need Jesus to be buried because it already happened wether you believe it or not. You dont need Jesus to raise again three days later because it already happened wether you believe it or not. "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin." - Romans 3:20 KJV Jesus.. "In whom we have *redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins,* according to the riches of his grace;" - Ephesians 1:7 KJV A lost soul isnt justified because Jesus did those things. A lost soul is justified because they.. Keep praying to God to give you direction, and our great intercessors, Mary and the saints! I also think about the priesthood, but have not fully discerned yet. Will be doing so in the next couple of months, years.

it is due to self management skills that need to be developed. This whole religious part is confusing the heck out of people. sin is another word for doing stuff that hurts ourselves and hurts others. It is best avoided always. the religious element is adding complexity to it that isn't always helpful.

@@Onlinesully That's not exactly what sin is as it is bigger than simply hurting if that make sense. Sin is an act that is a trangression of God's law. When you are sinning, that mean you are not aligned with God's will. God wants us to be in communion with him, to have a relationship with him and sinning interfere with that relationship. Hence, religion is not adding complexity, it's adding extra meaning to ones action!

Run to confession or riht now to jesus then get to confession asap always 3. Go to mass everyday ...lol yes everyday or 2x a week more than normal... 4. Adoration 2x a minth or more 5, rosary alot..... 6 fast more... 7. Use novenas ... 8. Get rid of tech at night if it tempts you 9. Pray at times u tempted.. like if u always fall at 9pm avoidn thise times 10. Get a spiritual dorector or priest.. if u can find one dont bother orver worked priests maybe a retired one 11. Get into a support group 12. Get blessed sapulchers salt against demons 13. Holw water or blessing fron priest of home 14. Blessed statues mary ... 14a Read everything on st ignatiusspiritual exercises great work... 15.. humility humiliity our pride wants to sin pleasure U dint have to do all these but some combos help The main issue is get sacramemts intomyour soul and pray lords prayer when mentally tempted Hopefully yhis helps reduce your failings Jesus helps you .... Drinking is not falling short. Getting drunk is. Jesus changed water into wine at the wedding feast of Cana. Jesus and the disciples shared bread and wine at the last supper. Drinking is not a sin...getting inebriated is because that is when your thinking gets cloudy.

I know many Evangelicals that think every sin is already forgiven for the baptized in faith, regardless of whether they ask God for forgiveness and repent, aka saved for life. But then, what was the point of Jesus giving the Apostles the power to "bind and loose sins" and giving Peter the keys to the Kingdom if their belief is true? I've heard different rationalizations of that verse from them, all essentially boiling down to "it was mostly a pointless gesture"

Every Protestant denomination teaches to confess your sins as their official stance. It’s just the “what that looks like exactly” that people differ. Every Christian branch, catholic, orthodox, or Protestant teaches this here - 1 John 1:8-9 (NIV) 8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness Confessing sin is crucial. It is the pragmatic means of repentance. And Without repentance, there is no forgiveness. Luke 24:47 and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem I love that Catholics treasure confession and repentance. It is a good message, but it can be taken too far. In some deliverance circles, they view all sin as spirits outside themselves and it gets to the point sin becomes something one is afflicted by and not something one chooses to commit. That's not good thinking.

Dear Rita, I am a former life-long Catholic but left because only God can forgive sins. Only He knows if you are making a sincere confession. The priest can't read your mind. Martin Luther had the same problem of scrupulosity, but when he read Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord," a light went on and he was overjoyed. Wages are what we earn, but no one can merit eternal life no matter what we do, Jesus did it all. Hope this helps.

Username Catholics do not worship Mary! Do you know what the word veneration means? Obviously not. It means to respect and honour something, not worship. Mary and the saints are venerated, and god alone is worshipped. If you don’t know such simple things as these, your faith is in grave danger.

I am old now and I find that I can always learn something again or new. Btw 66. It may not seem old but it is to me. And I am still a work in progress, I am glad Jesus isn't finished with me yet.

My colleague who is a Catholic born & who is now Born again. Always reminded me of my Confessed sins which I repeatedly keep confessing yet rpeatedly doing😁 I always say that Confession was unlimited, I'm always prep up with excuses. So I guess after hearing today's talk from Fr. Mike, I know that we no longer have to be conscious and ashamed of our repeated sins because it is after all a wonderful gift to get closer to God❤

This is a big problem with Catholicism in my opinion. How do Catholics find motivation to change their sinful behavior if they keep being forgiven? This enables them to continue living the same way and it enables them to live in denial. I think they go to Confession so they will go to heaven. This is how they are raised. I think Catholics have built a reputation to be liars and this is why the religion is losing their following. You can live in denial if the Catholic Church enables you to. This ritual that you are describing may make some feel better but it still enables them.

Yes. You're right. Some find it difficult to avoid sins, especially when they have the vice of committing the same sin. It is possible to avoid sins, not alone, but by the power of God's grace. Tiffany Zoe Confession can be awkward especially in a smaller community. It's ok to go to a neighboring parish to confess.

I once confessed the same sins to the same priest 3 or 4 times in one month. That was really awkward but the awkwardness itself at least helped me to combat the sins better.
