I have a throttle lock, and I think you did a good job on that video. By that commenter's logic, all motorcycle vloggers should only ever post videos about how nobody should ride motorcycles, because some of the viewers of every video will be killed riding a motorcycle in the future. Everything has risks, all you can do is to make it clear what the risks are and let people make their own decisions.
Really enjoyed this convo Whitney. I like these deep dive type discussions. Spite is a good counter point to you. So glad I followed you here from that other place. Looking forward to the other videos you have on deck.
Thank you, as someone who also is a motorcycle content creator who also works as an editor for my normal job and currently feeling down with RU-vid this video is super great to watch ☺️
@@Whitney_Does yes absolutly especially hard when the lows hit when you need to film, like in my case curently on a big trip for my channel but pushing through and managing it somehow
Okay came over here due to watching Whitney on the 80’s Gold Wing. I will admit Spite, that I found your solo channel a slow start for me after the other channel. Then I realized that the other channel was really missing something for me. It was missing you, your insight Spite.
This is a great video with many important points!!! As a more trollish/fun oriented channel that I'm working on, even I'm affected by all of such things. Yourself, Jake and Shadetree are my Top 3 favorite moto-tubers currently and I always look forward to a new video!
I will gladly join in with the positive affirmation comments. What happened with the "other channel" was some bull spit and I stopped watching "other channel" after that. After what happened with "other channel" I was bummed out that I would not see any more content from my favorite MC youtubers. I am so glad you and Spite have forged onward with your own respective channels. Thank you for your efforts and the content yall put out. Keep up the awesome work.
Great vid. Gives some cool insight. It legit bums me out to hear Spite get bummed about mean comments. I think people who leave Spite mean comments probably also kick puppies.
I relate to this video, and the crunch, and the burn, and I have a day job that is extremely stressful... but I have 2 channels, a cooking channel, and a bike channel... and sometimes after being at work for 130hrs, I want to just ride, no cam, not even in the kitchen. Spend my 34hrs off by sleep, followed by f#@% all, followed by more sleep.... and then I see I lost 3 subscribers afterwards?....
Nice video, it feels like riding behind you both while listening to what you are talking. The goal for a video should not to make people happy... videos are entertainment, and as long you tell a good story it should be okay. Happiness is something you experience sometimes, depending on your life, not on a RU-vid content. But you are doing great, and producing some quality material, that I happen to enjoy. Thanks for the time you put on it.
Had someone at a stop light follow my TT cuz I have my tag on the side. I saw them moving around their car and then. DING new follower. I looked at them and they watched me open it. We both got super excited and laughed. Showed love and rolled on. I stopped to get gas. It wasn't even rolling 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️ fmlfmlfml they were looking forward to being on cam as much as I was capturing it
I think a throttlelock would be similar risk to cruise control. Anyone woried about either as the safety issue with a motorcycle is probably washout an MSF course in the duckwalk,or sign here on paperwork. They got issues. Life ain't safe bike or not.
I feel your pain w/ the GoPro shutting off randomly! The mic cable! Trying to recapture that 1st take magic! I’ve only just started motovlogging, and I felt like such an idiot for that stuff happening. I appreciate you talking about that side of it, that more experienced RU-vidrs have those problems too.
Screw the negative ninny commenters. If you're passionate about what you're doing & are having fun your audience will find you. Just look at FortNine as an example. Almost 1.7 million subscribers with just 325 videos published, because you can feel the love & passion from the creative process in almost every frame of their videos. Or Spite, who "left" the meat grinder of motorcycle Mordor with an instant audience because people liked the love & passion that he exuded, even as his soul was slowly being eroded under the all seeing eye of Suzuki Sauron. BTW: Why is there no "Eat A Dick" sticker in your merch store?
“If in your working hours you make the work your end, you will presently find yourself all unawares inside the only circle in your profession that really matters. You will be one of the sound craftsmen, and other sound craftsmen will know it. This group of craftsmen will by no means coincide with the Inner Ring or the Important People or the People in the Know. It will not shape that professional policy or work up that professional influence which fights for the profession as a whole against the public: nor will it lead to those periodic scandals and crises which the Inner Ring produces. But it will do those things which that profession exists to do and will in the long run be responsible for all the respect which that profession in fact enjoys and which the speeches and advertisements cannot maintain.” CS Lewis, The Inner Ring
Sounds like Spite experienced a Karen in the comments. Some people just have to spout nonsense and tell people how they're wrong while insulting them, but I think it's a control thing, they are the main character so don't engage with them
In the movie Nights Tale, the jousting Lances we’re made of balsa wood and pasta (spaghetti). As for follow on, I’ve watched several channels from RU-vid move to Nebula/Curiosity Stream as a way to manage issues with the algorithm…
I got very burned out, particularly with the fact that YT gets so rough with firearms related channels and it felt like I was treading water. My @remymoto motorcycle channel does way better relatively speaking and has far fewer obstacles. I 100% agree that when you are a one person "team" it can be brutal. You can spend a bunch of time trying to film something and then when you get to editing you have a vision in your head and then find out that something's missing or didn't look the same in camera as you thought... A different person editing often doesn't have that same baggage when they look at the available footage and audio. When it comes to comments, I get the same thing. It can be rough, but I also get a laugh out of it because people can be incredibly stupid and narrow minded. But they commented, which helped promote the very video they are being nasty about. I had a short yesterday, nothing special at all, that was probably done at around 400 views. Not good but honestly not bad for throw away footage from the ride to the actual planned content. I just wanted to throw up a short that day. Well, four people couldn't resist commenting negatively. Next thing I know it's gotten 3k views. Which for that channel is pretty good on a short. Like you guys I'm trying to stay true to myself while also building my brand as a content creator. I had to take a break from the firearms channel for a bit and luckily the moto stuff doesn't feel like the same grind right now.
People be doing dumb stuff on the internet all the time. Luckily the few of those are a vast minority of the ones who are actually interested. The GoPro dying on the point had laughing ngl. Also I can't imagine the struggle it would give to run a channel like you guys do. (As of yet, might do even if it's for my own memory sake and my own video library for remembering and seeing stuff i've been to or wanted to share or see)
Maybe one day you can get to the point like h bomber guy or Contra points and have such a solid fan base that you can miss weeks or months without an upload and you'll still be okay
To spite, I'm at about 14 and 1/2 minutes in and I don't know if you're a fan of Joe Rogan but anytime the topic of posting or comments come up, Joe Rogan is always like Post it and forget about it Don't even look at it. He said he used to read all of the comments like that and he used to respond to some of them and he noticed it was just getting to him mentally. I know it's hard sometimes but don't let that dumb shit get to you.
Just subscribed. Got turned off by your language. Decided to give another shot with this video. Only made it less than 3 min until you lost me again. Wish you success (without me). Btw. I don't remember ever leaving a negative comment on a channel before.
It's really easy to just not watch my content or better yet NOT leave a comment. I'm unsure of what you want accomplished by letting me know that you don't like my language. I wish you all the best and could care less about what makes you uncomfortable, because you sir are a wiener.
One thing that you and Spite should be doing is putting the outtakes at the end after the credits, That alone would make every , EVERY video worth watching. Brandon Herrera "The AK Guy" does this and its hilarious every single time. Even if the video is "Meh" the "outtakes/mistakes" make it worth it.
Wait. If you guys dig the interaction.... why do neither of you appear to have a Discord server?! I think you guys have seen what that can do for engagement during your time at your previous YT channel.
@@fullmetalcorgi1350 I actually don't much care for Discord. I'm theoretically on the SC Discord, but ISTM that unless you are hanging out on it all day, it's of very little interest to me. I guess if I were sitting at a PC all day it might be kind of interesting but I don't since retiring. I didn't even bother reinstalling Discord when I got a new machine a couple of months ago.
Spite, coming from working for the biggest ISP in the nation on their social media teams some portion of the internet will always work to tear you down. The people who work to be assholes on your channel say much more about them than you. Just an alternative way of looking at it.
I have to say, I did comment negatively to Spite's throttle lock video, and I did say I thought it was irresponsible. I didn't mention that he was statistically responsible for deaths although I certainly did think it. But when you think about responsibility you also need to shift it to the person who is taking the risk. Advocating for motorcycling will definitely lead to death and injury given enough people or time. I still advocate for motorcycling though because the reward way outweighs the risk. I still won't be advocating for throttle locks though 😅
Commenting honestly…including sometimes negatively….is the viewer’s version of the ‘authenticity’ that Spite and Whitney value so much in their own work. I like and admire them both very much, and I do sympathise with them on negative comments, but in the public domain if you want the acclaim you have to take the pain. 🤷♂️ I suspect and hope that this vid will have helped them both to come to terms with it.
Thank you both for the superb content. I’m in DFW…when/if it works out I wanna come down and hang out in Austin, ride Lime Creek and maybe you two pass me in one of the vids! 😉🤙 Truly look forward to all the content. Stay blessed!
