Confessions of Baptist Preachers | Funny Stories | Episode 68 

Here's a good story for you..........one Sunday morning during church service, we had this older guy with false teeth that sat near the front pew on the aisle, and he sneezed during the service and his teeth came out! He gets up during the preacher preaching and got his teeth and the pastor lost it......started laughing and soon the congregation (about 60) started laughing with him. I'm 60 and this was when I was about 12 maybe. I'll never forget that Sunday!

I am a 65 yr old full blooded Baptist. This is the greatest podcast I've ever seen. I can relate to every bit of this. Keep up the great work. Great to see Christians laughing and having a good time.

Growing up a preachers kid, I think I have more of these stories from being drug to funeral homes, hospitals, revivals, and church services. Dad was pastoring a church and during revival we had went home to eat with one of the deacons. His wife had made an old fashion strawberry cake that alone could put you in a diabetic coma. They also had homemade strawberry ice cream. We had no more finished eating when I hear call 911, brother so and so (he was only like 31) is having a heart attack. Turns out a wedge of the strawberry cake and three bowels of ice cream had spiked his blood sugar so much and caused indigestion. At the time it was scary, but now it’s a laugh til tears.

It was pure joy to laugh my way through this podcast! I pastor a Baptist church out in the upcountry of South Carolina, just across the Tugaloo River from Northeast Georgia. I can so identify with these preachers and their stories as I've been an old country preacher for over 30 years now. As I listened I recalled similar people and their stories from my own years of ministry. Oh the stories we can tell! God bless you for sharing this special time with these special people.

I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I sang in a gospel group for 25 yrs. We were in approx. 60-70 venues a year, mostly in small town churches throughout the SE. These stories really bring back great memories.

This was funny 😂my husband has pastored for 20 years and we have some stories too…. 😂 … different denomination but I think we all have funny stories ..

these are good stories, I love living in the south and these are definitely some southern stories, can't wait to watch the next episode

We still have Day and Night services starting Saturday night then go through to the next Sunday morning with Baptism. All MEN and Women ( well none of us women work , from the time we get married we stay home) take off work and are at every service. Most wonderful week of the year!! We Baptist.

A funny story: we were singing in the mountains of North Carolina at a small Southern Baptist Homecoming. The service was going well, and the people were enjoying the Bluegrass Gospel Music we were singing and performing. About 45 minutes into the service, the Pastor stood up and interrupted "Boys, this is a great service and y'all doing some great picking and singing, but its time for a smoke break!" About half the congregation went out for a church smoke break with the Pastor...😂 About 10 minutes later they all.came in, we finished the service and went and ate lunch. We still laugh over that Sunday

Sitting at home today and your podcast came up with the tales of the preachers! Raised as a PK I watched and laughed remembering happenings of my childhood and church folks! Thanks for sharing!

When I was in Jr. High in the late 60's, I was all dressed up in my mini skirt and pantyhose, nice shoes, etc. My mom invited my great aunt to ride along when she dropped me off at the school. My great aunt was in her 80's, little thing that looked like mammy yokum from the lil' Abner comic strip. She was a spunky little pentecostal about 4'6" tall with no teeth, so you never saw her lips. But you sure did see that line of liquid chewing tobacco streaming down the corners of her little wrinkled mouth .... nasty habit! Well we had a 2 door car and of course Aunt Josie got the front seat and I sat in back as she accompanied us to the Jr. High. My mom pulled into the drop-off area, aunt Josie opened the door and leaned forward to let me exit from the back seat. I stepped out of the car and just before closing that front door, aunt Josie spit a big wad of that tobacco onto the asphalt where I was standing. That slimy black nasty smelling stuff splashed a big puddle in that driveway and all over the back of my leg and panty hose! I hated snuff already, but I had a special hatred for it from that day forward.

I worked with Johnny for a few years, he also worked with my dad, grandfather and 2 cousins. I currently work with Andrew, and Johnny's son in law worked with us too, but no longer does. Johnny is a great man and still stops by the shop from time to time

This is when preachers were real and full of the Holy Ghost. ❤️🙏🏼

Boys I’m so proud I saw your show on RU-vid. I left southeast Missouri for Wyoming in the early 80”s. I had my tail tore up several times by my Dad in the parking lot at Church. I tell people out here at Church about washing feet and Brush Arbor services. They look at me like I got 2 heads. Oh I miss those times and all the characters I knew.

I've been to Darrell's chuch for singings and he has been to the church I used to go to before we had to close it, Locust Fork Church of God, someone else has it now. My husband, Curtis and I go to Shady Grove Church in Mt. Olive now, we love it. Yall keep up the good work.

Im a PK. When i was about 8 i had heard Bro Bullock talk about how his grown daughter was afraid of frogs. She always sat in front of me in service. 1 Sunday i gote a frog and when the invitation was given I put it down baxk of her dress. I has never seen grown person scream and jump like that. Lol

I was in my 20’s working lock and dam hanging forms in well over 100 degree temperatures. A guy I was working with gave me a big dip of wintergreen skoal. About 15 minutes later I started feeling funny. I looked off across the horizon and when I stopped bouncing on the 4’ wrench the trees in the horizon was still bouncing. I never dipped again.

I had some family on my grandmother's side there was a preacher that came to stay with em too preach and they were gonna do a foot washing and the kids got the preachers socks and filled em with ash from the fire place and he didnt find out till he got to church and took his socks off😅😅😅

I'm a pk a d I have a lot of story's. My granny dipped buttercup snuff. She would give me money to walk to store to buy her snuff. She said lf I ran into the preacher just buy a loaf of bread. The store was across the street from the church. I'm 57 so then you could buy it,

I had an uncle that always had a wad of BeechNut in his jaw! I thought it was tough looking so I put a wad in my cheek as a young man and boy I turned green and sick as a dog! The last BeechNut for me!
