Alexa, LOVE your YT channel! I'm participating in NaNoWriMo for the first time this year and it has been VERY helpful! Thanks again for all of your advice - it's been fascinating for me, especially when comparing it to my creative career as a video game developer (P.S. - I just ordered all of your other books in hardback last night. Nice to hear your updates, Alexa! I've been binging your old videos for some reason lolz. Can I suggest two tips for your multi-POV, dual-timelines WIP? 1. Using the enneagram - It's a typology system of 9 types that highlight motivations, fears and desires which is three key things that a writer should KNOW about their character. It's been a great shorthand for me to get to know my characters before writing a couple drafts. The 9 types are: The Reformer, The Helper, The Achiever, The Individualist, The Investigator, The Loyalist, The Enthusiast, The Challenger, and The Peacemaker. It's been an eye-opener in terms of knowing myself and my characters. 2. I'm also writing a multi-POV, dual-timeline WIP about 4 main characters who meet in fat camp in 1996 and forge a friendship that would last 15 years; we alternate chapters back-and-forth between the 4 MCs and between 1996 and 2011. What has helped me ground the story and not get convoluted or bogged down by too many moving parts is featuring 2 characters and their goals in the PAST and 2 other characters and their goals in the PRESENT. The characters without goals will be reduced to the background for support. And the present storyline is affected by the past. But I'm sure your editor knows what she's doing and will have some great solutions for you! Have a good day, Alexa :-)

New to the channel so I don’t know if you e already done this but I would love a video on character planning! How you choose a name, what about their backstory you always make sure to come up with, what random things you feel you have to know in order for a character to feel real (favorite song, how their phone case looks, something like that), how much of their friends or family you feel you need to give backstories, etc.

I hope you've enjoyed your break. I mean, it's not completely a break, because you're making other content, writing a book, and doing life things. I do hope you'll continue making content here regularly (at a pace that works for your work-life balance and cats). Where did I learn about Alexa? RU-vid. See, no 'where did you learn about me survey' required. :) You really do a great job with your content; that doesn't mean you have to produce the content at a pace that doesn't serve you. Honestly, Alexa, we'll love you even if you leave youtube for good :) I wish you wouldn't, but I've seen many youtubers continue after their burnout and it affects people to keep doing something they are not passionate about. Question: So what are you doing to organize so many POVs? Are still using scriviner to draft? I know they have those plotting tools built in? I tried multiple POV stories in the past and it does create interesting organizational challenges. Keep up the great work! You can do it!

Of course I'll follow you on tiktok, but dang, I missed seeing you HERE, Alex. BTW, feel free to vlog a bout anything relevant to your writing. It doesn't have to be "update-y" in nature. You mentioned working on a dual timeline story, why not make a video on how to weave in dual timelines. I know NEED that video. You also mentioned figuring out how to write an 8-POV story, so create a video about that. I'm not writing multi-POV, but that sounds like a challenge I wouldn't mind taking down the road. Either way, you always provide unique insight on anything you vlog about so I hope you'll come back when you're ready.

Glad to see an update from you! I hope you’re doing well. As much as I would love to join Tiktok, it’s too dangerous. It is a Chinese company, which means that you can’t expect TikTok don’t have the same considerations for your rights as we’ve come to expect in America. In fact, TikTok was recently caught downloading Key Logger software into its users phones (in particular, the iPhone 14). This means that the Chineese government now has any information you’ve ever typed into your phone. Passwords, personal information, bank information, etc. Generation Z better hope that we never lose a war with China.

Beware of TikToc's Terms and Conditions as they are shocking. Search in this tube for - Joe Rogan TikTok terms/conditions etc done not long ago. To say this shocked me is an understatement. Even if you do not like him, this is s worthy+ watch. 👍
