Awesome. I set up Jira boards and do a lot of what you have explained. But learnt something new - was able to add a field 'EPIC' to Issue Detail View. Will make it so handy for the teams. Usually I am clicking on the specific Jira, opening in a new window, going in 'Edit' mode to update the EPIC. Roundabout way.. I will certainly be back for more of your videos..
I really like your videos. they are very informative and beautifully explained. The only request I have is there is background music which is distracting. Could you not please put that. it will help us to concentrate even better.
Under each column in the world that are statuses can we as Admins add more statuses as required or is this something that a JIRA admin must do on the workflow end by adding status in the workflow so it would show up in the board?

Can you set up a Kanban board for non- software related projects? Or does it not matter and you can set up the hoard in any way that you want? Why no just say “New Project using Kanban board”

Hi Pramitha, adding team members is quite straightforward. In the issue there's a field called 'assignee', which should be set to who ever in your team the issue is assigned to. When your team members log into Jira, and go into a Board, there is an option filter on the main screen called 'Only My Issues' at the top. John
Create 2 custom date fields, and update that through automation or work flow transition post function. If it not depend on status change then add those fields to the specific screen and ask the executor to update the value manually
There is no need to share a board with two or multiple teams. If all members are working for a same product, they should use same kanban board, otherwise keep them separate
Hi - Is there any way you can have a brief summary of this on the latest version of Jira? Some of the settings are different, it was a little hard to follow as the navigation on the current version of JIRA cloud is different. This was however a very useful video!
The process of setting up a Kanban board with custom swim lanes seems so over-complicated. You have to go through 20 different screens to finally get it to work. This funtionality should be available right there on the board overview screen. Has this been simplified with the new Jira UI?
Is there a way to track iterations/ revisions to a single item in JIRA? For example an epic which is opened and linked to a wiki article and if the wiki article has been updated 2X can the JIRA ticket reflect this?
At video minute 1:09 one can see different columns in the background. How can I create a main column e.g. DEV[4] with sub-columns "Doing" and "Done" (=side-by-side)?
Hi Stu, at 1:09 the board shown in background is talking about fundamental kanban way of board, When Kanban was started there was no ALM tools like Rally or Jira, Now Tools support Kanban, and each tool have their own capabilities. Jira does not have Options to create sub columns, You can create additional columns, but that will defeat the purpose of WIP limit. So you can configure card colors based on Dev Done state, keep Dev In Progress and done in same column, so that they can be under same WIP Limit.
Use cfd with Kanban. Or use lead time or cycle time. Go with control chart but don't try to plot a burn down chart. Burn down chart is for visualizing the remaining amount of work ( of a limited amount of work planned for a limited amount of duration).
@@AgileDigest hello sir thank u for your response, i have one last question as we are not using story points but we use tshirt sizing, so in this how i can estimate the velocity and capacity of my team or if without Sp i cant calculate capacity then what is the better way to estimate our work. We are not following typical 14 days sprint but we do review and retro meeting in every 14 days
@@rishabh9410You don't Need capacity, Capacity is only required when you are aware of the duration (sprint Duration) and team size. If you are following Kanban, measure throughput.

I activated the backlog, and created an Issue. The moment I created an issue, it automatically went into ToDo. How do I stop that behavior? Also, i did not see an option to add sprint. I get the option on Jira Cloud Software, but not on LocalHost.
Hey, What do you mean by "activated the backlog", any issue will go to the first state of your workflow, when created. Todo may be your first state of the workflow.
@@AgileDigest Hello, I created a stage called backlog in the workflow. However, I had not connected it. My other question is that i'm not able to create Sprints. When using Cloud, on the line where it says 'Backlog' in the Backlog Menu of left column, I get an option to add sprint. I do not see that here on localhost.

Agile Digest , for example, in the work flow if I have analysis and deployment phase. One story needs to be replicated into two and one should go back to analysis for more refinement for another brand and original story needs to stay in deployment .
No , in jira you can have scrum and kanban two separate board. Scrumbun is actually nothing. When you mix up the both the concepts you can say it as so.

In current work I am on position of DevOps Architect where I am the only one. I would like to create Kanban Board for myself in jira like you described in this video. Sometimes I am delegating some tasks to developers or admins. How to track (just for my knowledge) delegated tasks? --> does this question make sense??
+Mateusz Lubańśki are those developers or admin part of the team how frequently they collaborate. Make them participate on daily standup and work as a part of team. Have the task assigned to them. And follow the WIP limit including their tasks as well.
