I spent 20 years rolling out to the left thinking that I would be gaining advantage by following the left torque and turning tendencies. I noticed the experienced beaver and otter pilots always rolling right and discovered the airplane gets off shorter. You are basically leveraging against the the p factor

Has anyone ever tried hydrofoils on a seaplane to be able to takeoff with less drag on the water? Also, would a hydrofoil give you smoother landing in less than flat water so the pontoons only touch when the plane is at a slower speed?
