8:40 Chaos must have had a stroke during that dialog. It's not confusing or contradictory at all. First wife died. Second wife was kept a secret. That is all. It's that simple. Also Felix never says he thought that was the queen. Chaos just made that up. Felix only said he didn't even know she was his stepmother. He gives no information on what he thought she was. He could have thought she was just a caretaker or some other kind of servant or some distant noble or relative or anything really. Whatever excuse they put forward at the time.
To be fair, it's a lot of "tell, not show", and for the first queen we got nothing. And a lot of info about the second one are more disclosed with DLC content.
