Funnily enough male deer like to decorate their antlers with flowers, plants and grass. More plants may often gain favoritism with the ladies. So the flower one is a macho man haha
@@leilei49-51 that’s a learned behavior tho. We had a class about pictographs. A street sign is a learned pictograph so it’s fine if only the people that drive cars understand it, a toilet sign needs to be universially understandable without learning it. So that’s why there isn’t a standard for toilet signs, but those are baaad.

@@AwesmSaucem619 that is really tragic that Americans treat prepubescent children like adults. What is with children who need some help to dress themselves? Aren't they allowed to get help from an opposite sex parent?
Most are clear enough, the giraffe/elephant and ace of spades/hearts wasn't (though I'm guessing the boy's room is spades and elephant). I like the sparkle unconventional signs may bring to a place, they just have to have a clear 🔺🔻, stand/squat (by flow or shape), or some universally distinguished thing - the shopping/football is problematic because it's in English, not because it's not clear which is which (currently).
@@antlerthyme we're talking bathroom signs, not attending a gender studies lecture. The standard sign is men in pants and women in dresses - no one gets confused by a guy in a kilt or a girl in jeans. 😒
@@anne-vc7bgthat doesn't mean it's not problematic. encouraging harmful stereotypes is still problematic even if you're not attending a lecture about them. I thought this was common sense.
Some of them make sense and others are just weird. Like one second it's dress triangle vs other triangle guy like we'd draw as kids and then it's elephant vs giraffe like I can make an argument for either of those representing a penis
I thiiink its supposed to be a demented play on 'a women is skinny and a guy can be fat'? Literally cant think of any other reason other than it being a pop culture reference, who came up with these
@@galaxykitten6849 exactly! Like we can come up with a million reasons why either would be either sex but at the end of the day I still have no idea which one I'm supposed to go into XD
I prefer to think of the female triangle body as more of a 'female biology is designed to give wider hips' instead of dresses because honestly it makes more sense
@@kitcat-xn1mn this is also one of the reasons I think we should push for gender neutral toilets instead of male/female split ones. Or split them by piss/shit so you don't have to smell someone's explosive shart when you need a quick piss. At the end of the day we're all going in there to either wash our hands, puke, defecate or urinate so do they really need to be split at all? I think not
@T13GUY agreed. There's always one creep but that'll be one creep among many many normal people. I only say skirt or dress because that's what we were told we were drawing growing up
Right?! The closest I can thing is the one on the left is like testes hanging down, and the other one is like ovaries over the uterus? But it also seems opposite to everything else. Usually 🔺️ is women and upside triangle is man...?
@@shireads2954 That's actually pretty ironic that a man's physique is ∇ and a woman's physique is ∆ but their reproductive systems are the opposite, never thought of it that way 🤔
At first I thought it was testicles on the left and a uterus on the right. But the left could also be an ugly faced woman with breast. So I don't know.
look again, the left one was basically 2 balls. we don't need to know what the other represents. frankly it seems like they built the joke based on that, and using whatever for the other one.😂
normally im all for art and creativity to brighten up urban environments, but if it's inhibiting an objects function, then it shouldn't be done. honestly, just establishing a standard for what restrooms should be marked with would be helpful. you can do whatever with creative freedom, as long as there are clear, standardized markers for the restroom. imagine if road signs were treated the way restroom signs are
But it doesn't impedes function. A man can use woman's bathroom perfectly fine and vice versa. Especially with the raise of LGBTQ equality. A lot of bathrooms are gender neutral.
Not really, there are enough people who don't have an outside that matches these chromosomes. Not even just trans people, also people who think they're cis, because apparently theres stuff like XXY and other combinations, and it can go unnoticed for life. Something like "urinals and no urinals" would make most sense practically, in my opinion
What about XXX or XXY. Or males born with XX and females born with XY. From what I remember there is also O? I think... XO? It's been a long enough while since I read a scientific paper on it for my smooth brain to forget some stuff. But yes, people usually don't know their chromosomes, there is plenty that can go "wrong" in the womb and leave someone out of the two main categories. Unless you had your chromosomes checked in a laboratory, you will never know.
@@kamilululu2515not statistically significant enough to accommodate. Considering all the difficult decisions these poor people with chromosomal disorders need to make throughout their lives, I'm sure they could figure out which bathroom they want to use. But, oh so virtuous of you to feel excluded on their behalf. What a hero.
Rule number one in designing and building a restroom: Outside the entrance should be Male on the left and Female on the right. In my country, even without the sign we can still tell which side is the right room to enter. And I think most Asian countries follow this rule too.

Elephant is for men. Aka the Elephant dance from anime Shin Chan. Think the face of the Elephant as the male genitalia idk how a giraffe is female though.
@@danganese8627I mean, elephant society is matriarchal. The herds we see are usually female elephants that only accept males during the mating period. Also one could argue that giraffes look more phalic
I live in the states and there's a restaurant that's theme is the movie casablanca and on the bathroom doors are just a picture of Bogart on one and the female lead on the other. I was so confused, a very sweet drag queen ended up helping me.
I'm all for creative designs, but they should be readable Get GD Colon into a rant about this, that'll fuel all of the memes for another couple of months
It definitely doesn't work for everyone. I had to go back, stop the video and think about it, before I actually got it 🙄 If people want gendered bathrooms make it understandable right from the get go ffs
Ohhhhh! Now that’s what we should have for restrooms. I just didn’t see it till you said something. Frankly I’d assume the one on the left (if it were slightly less abstract) had holes to squat over and the one on the right had urinals. Clever.
Not to mention how some of them have pretty cringe gender stereotyping. Like the one with a guy thinking about football and a woman thinking about shopping.
Well it's not really wrong, lol men are crazy over football and girls like shopping Bro I was just making an harmless comment and now I have all the nonbinary Npc's attacking me 💀
It took me a minute to realize that the first picture shows the poses of a woman sitting and a man standing, I thought these were Chinese characters 😂😂😂😂😂
@@Norithedawggif you go to China, it will not kill you to learn 女 and 男. My five year old can recognize these characters because our favorite sushi restaurant uses them on their bathroom doors (many, if not most, characters are shared between Chinese and Japanese. Also between various Chinese languages/dialects. Basically, learning the characters is SUPER useful). Like, we don’t have words written in other languages in the US on our restrooms. We probably should considering our lack of an official language, but we don’t. China using hanzi instead of a damn elephant and giraffe just makes sense lol
as a foreigner who doesn't understand cantonese and can't read Chinese characters, i still support this 😂 putting a tiny English translation underneath the sign is all non-Chinese speakers need.
One bathroom for pooping and bathroom for peeing, also then the toilets can be specially designed for each type of waste to save water and have less frequent clogging! (Only downside is it would be really bad to go into the wrong one lmao)
I thought the heart card was a king's crown and the other one was likely a dress. But now I realize the heart card represents ovaries. Still can't figure out the giraffe one though
At my old workplace in Beijing they had two Peking opera masks to show which bathroom was which. Since I don't know much about Peking opera I was totally baffled!
Not going to lie, i was able to perfectly understand every single one of these instantly, with exception to the elephant and giraffe, which took about 2 seconds to process.
@@bonnie1303Male elephants have bigger tusks so elephants are male. Based on that I think the giraffe is female unless they just stopped doing the basic female and male setup.
The Ace one is especially interesting because in most of the other depictions, the wide-bottom triangle is feminine (skirt) and the inverted triangle is masculine (broad shoulders and pecs) but for the plaging cards I see testicles (wide bottom triangle) and a uterus (inverted triangle)
Yeah that is an interesting thing about it. I felt like that was the most obvious, but I can see why it can be confusing since it goes against the regular triangle orientation seen for broad shoulders verses wider hips
thats wild because all I saw was "ace card" and "upside-down ace card" and if i was at that location I'd probably just go home when nature came calling
Soooo if they put an orange cat on the men's side I a woman should go into there? This was funnier in my head because orange cats are more often male rather than female. Calicos on the other hand are nearly always female. But there is the very rare males. So if they really want to confuse me put a calico on the women's side & an orange cat on the men's. Then I'm just holding it because I have both & I can't pick between them ever. All heck will break loose then unless I bribe with canned food & they already get more because my senior orange is older & needs it. I'm just scared of the calico. She might try to eat me if I don't give her some, again. There's also a grey tabby so I guess he could be the family restroom.
the two deer one gets me because they both have antlers and are therefore both male. i assume the lady's room is the one with flowers in the horns but that could also just mean the room smells better/is only for number one XD
That is one where the more you know about reality, the less it makes sense. But if you just operate with smooth brain flowers=girls logic… easy peasy 😂

Absolutely. Keeping two restrooms with no male or female signage, just unisex. We need restrooms, but we don’t need half open, 3 mile wide cracks so everyone can peek inside. Have locked restroom doors, real locks, top to bottom walls, no cracks or 5-30 mile wide holes so people can harass you inside or stare.
@@vennrilWhere are you from? In North America the bathroom stalls have super wide cracks in them, the door barely covers your ass while you’re on the toilet. Even if there’s no one in there to harass you it’s pretty uncomfortable as you can literally see the people walk by and waiting while you’re in the stall on the toilet. It’s awkward enough when it’s other women, I would NOT want a man around even if he didn’t have any bad intentions.
When I taught in China, I had to ask where the toilet was, but they didn't know what I was talking about until I remembered my students referred to it as the WC.
