This is video #2 in my Super Quick Hits series. Super Quick Hits are meant to be short videos concentrating on quick ideas for practicing.
This video is another warmup video for congas. This video is intended to help loosen up your wrists so you can move freely between bass (heel) sounds and fronts (toes) with ease.
Although it's a simple exercise, care should be taken to go slowly and focus on the quality of your sounds. Be sure to get as much full contact with your palms for the basses and full finger-length contact for the fronts.
I try to play my fronts as if my hands were hinged to the drum head after executing the basses. You can see this demonstrated from the side camera angle.
