Well done! My 12-year-old son has congenital CMV (technically “step-son”, but I’ve been raising him since he was on a bottle at aged 2). He’s mine! Anyway-we must make legislation for pregnant women to be tested for this. He was born a chubby, precious full-term baby who appeared to have no symptoms until he failed his newborn hearing test. He was 100% deaf in the left ear and moderately in the right. He now has a cochlear implant on the left and a hearing aide on the right. CMV IS THE NUMBER ONE CAUSE OF CHILDHOOD DEAFNESS, and there is no regulation for testing. He is unable to walk (wheelchair bound), talk, eat by mouth (G- button feeding tube), has epilepsy, and type 1 diabetes. He has an insulin pump and a Baclofen pump. He also has cerebral palsy due to the CMV. He is such a happy and sweet child. He is an absolute joy. My concern is that IF his mom had known during pregnancy or immediately after his birth he could’ve received much more treatment early on that could’ve reduced some of the major issues he’s had. Thank you for helping to educate about CMV! We must continue to educate everyone about this.
Thank you for sharing this, I am doing my own research on CMV bc I am considering doing a clinical trial for a CMV vaccine. As a mother, I never knew about this but reading your comment just made me realize the importance of a vaccine to prevent this.
Maybe start by asking textbook publishers to make CMV clear in training nurses. Nurses provide a lot of patient education. Testing for STIs is common in prenatal care.
Can mothers who had CMV 4 years ago, are not pregnant for more than 1 year already get CMV re-activated somehow? And what would be symptoms be for non-pregant women? Any help is appreciated.

It can be reactivated and you can get a different strain, but unless otherwise immunocompromised, secondary CMV infections are much less likely to spread to the fetus and even less likely to cause severe outcomes.

I'm 27, my Lymph nodes are fucked, I'm slowly getting better, i felt like i got fucked really hard by this, i would recommend vitamin c 1000mg daily, Vitamin d 6000 UI and try to get Zinc in and a B complex supplement. I had a fever for almost a week from this shet and i thought i had covid, i believe it was my girlfrien who passed it to me. I'm 2 weeks in and i seem to be getting better, make sure you get that vitamin D that helps regulate the immune system.

Only other thing I have come across that may I have come in contact with environmental factors such as, black mould, ammonia nitrate herbicide-spraying ,smoking-heavy metals, and alcohol-heavy drinking. How about accept that God sometimes actually wants us to do shit and that prayer changes people and emboldens them to get off their bums and use reality to help others. "JUST" pray is too little and ignores a huge point of what prayer even is
It is a virus, so yes. It is transferred in bodily fluids such as saliva, urine (usually from changing diapers when an infected child is still in the “shedding” phase) etc., however, it effects a fetus in the womb of the mother has never had CMV and catches it during her first trimester. There is a lot more literature on this.
