The DRC is one of the poorest countries on the planet with one of the highest proportions of millionaires. While 70% of the population lives on less than a dollar a day, 6% are millionaires. Businessmen, artists, former rebel leaders or evangelists, many have made fortunes in chaos. In the capital, Kinshasa, these new rich live in the heart of secure and luxurious enclaves, while elsewhere, children work several hours a day tens of meters underground extracting coltan.
This documentary was first released in 2019.

A Congolese here, born and raised. Can’t fathom how DRCongo is still in this dire situation... But it’s my country and I love it. I sometimes do presentations in Japanese schools mostly and they seem to love what they see and hear about my country. We have a lot to offer to the world. And everyone can be happy and live peacefully. There is no reason for people to suffer in a country that has it all. But this is the result of human nature of greed. Congo is already rising… 🙌🏽🇨🇩💯

It's the poorest because rich countries are busy looting their resources creating unnecessary wars. If we have a stable DRC, and with good leadership, that is the weak link the rich countries have found to loot African resources.

Africa's wealth gap is staggering
@charlesmendez4686
@charlesmendez4686 Год назад
Oh, check South Africa or Eswatini. I lived in Eswatini for 19 years and the wealth disparity is staggering. The city is divided into 4, those living in the city are middle income, slightly out the city are the suburbs and this is where high earners and ultra rich gates communities are found. Once you pass this area, you then reach the townships where the poorest live in multitudes, outside that are "semi-rural settlements" with some few mansions. In high school just mention the area you live in and we can automatically estimate what your household income might be and the profession of your parents.

Good things? You mean westerners are tired of exposing their people and are trying to expand. "Oh this is how the rich live and this is how the poor live, truly horrible thing that doesn't happen in our country" "This what the rich did to become rich" This is how they took advantage of the poor people." Westerners always have to establish moral superiority. Taking advantage of the less fortunate or knowledgeable doesn't exist there. Income gaps don't exist in the west either right? East Africa with minimal resources is advanced and have been able to bank on a lot of opportunities in the Indian Ocean. Turned out his company had been screwing people over for over a decade. They screwed me over too and I walked away with an education and just barely enough to start over. It’s all part of life. I knew it could happen, and I was able to go on to make millions, but I’m sure it doesn’t go that way for most people. Just live your life the best you can, keep your head up and be aware that it’s not really a battle unless you feel it is.

Love Africa.... Great documentary. I think it's just wonderful how some of these humans have made their way out of poverty. What I find even more commendable is that they've chosen to keep their wealth in their beautiful country. Such a sad state of affairs when impoverished countries lose their budding entrepreneurs to a wealthier country. No country will ever rise above poverty, etc... when the "Movers and Shakers" remove potential growth from their homeland by leaving. I don't like that self proclaimed, "Prophet" though. He's without a doubt, a sidewinder. But? He gives hope to many, irregardless if he's a fake, and sometimes that's all one needs to rise above and stay the course. Without hope? All is lost. So? Whatever... 'Juice Guy". Smh. (p.s.... Saw that one young man's hat, the mine worker.. "Molson Canadian Beer... NHL.... I was all... Wooooo hooooo... And I don't understand why the people in power don't see that the trajectory we're on as a continent is not sustainable (that is spending decades plundering the wealth of nations at the expense of everyone else). I think he's speaking relatively. Take the minimum salary in your country and multiply by 100. Minimum salary in Cyprus is around 900 euros. Therefore by their saying, the ultra rich here would earn about 90 000 euros per month. But as usual, the ultra rich person in the video is the singer. The true ultra rich will never let cameras stream their houses in Africa. They live in gated and well protected neighbor hoods.

I know poverty in Africa is harsher without social security that the West is privileged to have. However, there is poverty and disparity of wealth everywhere on earth. We all have to voice out Anti-corruption. No countries are corruption proof, because we all get enticed by money on all levels of the society. "No" to corruption. The citizens have to advocate and practise. The wicked politicians and business people must be targeted to bring the society a little better place.

"The wicked politicians and business people must be targeted to bring the society a little better place." The people must unite and solve their problems, this thing of waiting for someone else or God to solve your problems is the reason why they are in this mess. The money they used to travel to go to the pastor and buy his juice, they have should have combined it and built a school, roads, provide electricity for themselves, etc. But people are always looking for someone else to save them
@vkdrk
@vkdrk Год назад
@@Bambotb It's great to see people in Africa doing business and becoming rich but corruption comes to mind when you look at African governments selling natural resources abroad and keeping all the profits for themselves instead of investing in healthcare, education, infrastructure. There's enough money in Africa but politicians keep most of that money for themselves that's why there are so many regular people struggling. Ah and btw, you can do business and still be corrupt as an individual. It's very common in many countries (USA, UK, Russia...) There is corruption in the West, too, the main difference is that Western countries share a lot of that wealth with their citizens, most African countries don't
