I live in South America. Down here, those kinda games were very rare. I had a 'Rich' part of the family that didn't give a fuck about other relatives and my cousin had this game for his N64 (When they came out) my mom made the great effort (Bless her heart) to buy me a N64 and I did some yard work to get some money and I asked my cousin if he could sell it to me, he agreed and I got it for 5 dollars (Back then the Game in my country was around 80 dollars or so). Since my parents didn't know english, they couldn't understand the dialogue; and since I'm billingual I was laughing my ass off. This song brings too many memories man. Best purchase I ever made. Best game I ever played. Best memories of my childhood that I will forever cherish. Damn, got something on my eye :')
Adam Crawford kind of like that! haha. of course the nasty scenes with blood and all made my parents cringe a bit. but they never got any of the jokes! for example, the barn segment ha ha ha
It's funny because many including Nintendo, hinted how Rare were such masters when it came to suppressing every inch of a game into the storage available, they were more told to be far better at putting high quality music on the Cartridges than even Nintendo.
Really? The n64 has some of the best soundtracks in gaming. Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, Conker, and Super Smash Bros come to mind. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-x6hsdWGF0no.html
If you were a Newgrounds flash animator back in 2005 and you didn't use this masterpiece for your sweet rave party scenes, you were doing it W R O N G.
@@rebelheart4456 Sure thing, buddy! Heads up tho, the content in them can get quite vulgar (especially M is Bad) , but they're both classics and I hope you enjoy 👍
To this day I'm not sure if the developers at Rareware were being creative or just crazy. You go from being hungover to carrying a beehive/machine gun turret to retrieving cash from catfish to fighting a hybrid of the Terminator and a Hay Bale to fighting a giant opera singing pile of feces to a land of dinosaurs and cavemen to a nightclub filled with rock people whom you urinate on. What. The. Hell?
Flaminstarwarsguy851 And in the end, after a sick adventure, you lose everything and you are stuck with riches which you can use to nothing, because you sit there on a throne and feel empty. good game
And then Microsoft ruined it. They had the perfect opportunity to fix the ending, but they blew it - and on top of that, they took out all the actually fun MP modes like Race and Heist. Also, needless censorship. It's really sad when Nintendo is more open to swearing than Xbox.
PsyrenXY Not gonna lie, i cried at the ending, it is so unexpected - the whole game is about carelessly finding cash, "Yeah, more sponduli!", fighting crap, biting the ass of a cyclop, feeding a bat-dude, and in the end for nothing...the last stage sets a really weird atmosphere as well, when everyone just dies, and u ask urself, "What the hell now?" before realising conker has nothing left...this game is ART!
"Hey can we rent this please!?" **mom looks at age warning** "no you boys arn't allowed to play that" **video store with dad** **looks at age warning** **raises eyebrow, reads back** "Sure" **watches us play the intro bit and multiplayer** **laughs his ass off at conker being hung over** "You boys know this isn't real right?" "Yeah." "You mean squirrels don't go to bars and shoot each other with bazookas?" **laughs** "Have fun" Dad was pretty cool growing up.
Looking back, this game, though Mature, it's still not quite as crazily mature like games nowadays, though it was for N64. Mostly it's just violence though some other content was there, but Rare still kept the usual humor they did in all their games, including Perfect Dark, another M game. But that was a cool story.
I remember hearing this for the first time and being amazed. There's a lot of great video game music out there, but this doesn't sound like video game music; much less N64 music.
The thing is the N64 had no sound processing hardware. It used the main processor and raw sound effects from the cartridge. How they managed to make it play this song using just that is beyond me, especially considering the quality.
I’ll never forget playing this part for the 1st time. 2001, I was 11 years old trying to figure out what to do, realizing that I have to pee on the rock dudes suddenly made me wanna use the restroom. Didn’t bother pausing the game since the music was so good. I come back to find Conker dancing and doing the worm in his little caveman sabertooth hat. This game is incredible.
idle animations are a relic of past console generations, sadly. That game was KING of idle animaitons; he'd juggle, play the gameboy, drink, burp, look at his watch, set butterflies on fire, talk to himself, whistle, and sometimes different ones depending on the level.
Thought process: we need a trance tune for this club scene... We can't afford to licence one... Fuck it, we'll make our own, no worries. This could have been a top 10 hit back in the day! The BFD soundtrack is incredible.
I rarely ever see anyone talk about how impressive this song is from a technical perspective. I still can't comprehend how Robin did frequency shifting on an N64.
By the time Perfect Dark launched, Rareware had already find a way to use MP3 for music so I'm guessing that's why. But some other games did sound amazing without the MP3 playback.
@@CandiedC Yeah, most games did use sequencing but at some point developers found out that you could playback MP3 files/samples at the expense of CPU usage. Can’t remember exactly where I read it but Perfect Dark and then Conker’s BFD make use of MP3 playback.
I remember the guy at the GameStop saying to my mom “you know this is an 18 and up game right?” as he pointed to the warning label on the cover art. My mom had only saw the demo part of the game where you’re shooting Teddyz so she just thought it was a squirrel war game. Great childhood game. Fuck you GameStop guy for trying to ruin it for me.
Hahah I had a good laugh with your comment ! I had the pleasure to get it without any permission from my parents at this time. Our childhood was quite good tho
I remember that I almost got mortal kombat 3. But for some reason I got the game guide first. When my parents saw the stuff in the guide they said I couldn’t get it anymore. Played myself.
I like how this starts out as very expected, standard fare N64 quality music, and then it climbs its way up into something completely mindblowing; something that sounds unlike almost anything on the entire _system_. I learned that the N64 can really output 100 channels of music if it dedicated all of its processing time on just that. You can basically go above and beyond with N64 music if you want it to, and this song is good proof of that.
A composer who had to make multiple different soundtracks for quite a few games made better trance music than most trance musicians out there * tsk tsk tsk *
I remember this song from VGDC when Luigi was sneaking in Bowser's castle going past a DJ club. But it only played the beginning part. Hearing the full song, it's so remarkable that Rare, as usual, made such a very good music for Nintendo 64. They pushed the console to its max in this late game.
Cool thing was RARE was a huge graphics providor gor a lot of early Nintendo games, Super Donkey Kong for example. It was very common for Nintendo games to reference other Nintendo games along with RARE games.
+Jaime Gonzalez I played it later, on an emulator, but have the same sentiment. I just kinda dismissed the entire genre before CBFD introduced me to this.
CBFD is, to date, the only N64 game I ever finished completely on emulator. I had to remap my controls to get through the boss battle with the alien, because it was impossible to do the rotating thing with the normal arrow keys. Absolutely worth it.
@@No_Sleepeeme too seriously that was a great decade despite my country has an earthquake in the beginning of that decade but in other matters was better
Best song in the best game ever made! People really have to give this game more credit. To even have this game run at all the game had to be extremely resource conservative. The entirety of this game used way less than 100MBs yet took 15 hours to beat and had the best graphics and sound design on the N64. Rare should have stayed with Nintendo
lasoogneypubes To be fair the Rare staff responsible for their golden age weren't with the company anymore. They are all still floating around waiting to come together...
Marcara081 Apparently the original RARE staff is coming back together to make a new Banjo Kazooie game. It's going to be faithful to the 64 version too. So no driving around in cars and shit.
***** Dipshit.. You *assumed* that when I said the original RARE staff is getting back together, that I meant that they're coming back to RARE when I never said that at all. No I didn't reword your comment. I was just pointing out that I *already knew that*. I already knew that they started a different company. If I would have said that the original RARE members were *coming back to work for RARE again* then your comment wouldn't be so stupid and pointless. Try not assuming so much next time.
Correct me if I'm wrong but towards the beginning it sounds like the song they played in the movie 'blade' in the club scene..either way this game and song is and always will be badass.
I remember when I was little, I used to go straight to the chapters, pick "rock solid", put the controller down, turn up the volume on the television, and just jam out the music. XD
The Raving Husky I've actually met a few people who didn't like it that much I just wonder if they were as drunk as Conker at the start of the game when they played it
@@emprrah you can have everything in the world, but it won't be enough if you don't have the most important thing, Wich in this case, was berry for conker.
I remember I was ten when this came out, my old mans friend gave him this game and he never played it so I took out goldeneye and tried it and it became my favourite game that I have ever played.
God this game was great, the crude humor appealed to me even as a kid which I'm surprised by today. I miss games like these, the humor, the sheer randomness, etc. Rare did something great with this game, but unfortunately, all great things must come to an end..
Man i am into Metal and Rock...but this song made me listen to other genres...very cool song the first i listened while playing the game it blew my mind and i had my first eargasm...
