Oh I finally figured it out! Yellow in the green, and white and red in their respective colors (the extra red and white is underneath the other ports on my tv kind of hidden away)
Ciao and thank you for this very useful video 💪🏻💪🏻 I have a Samsung QLED QE43Q60 that doesn't have the "component cables box" but can accept only hdmi connection Is there a way to improve the Wii graphics by some other kinds of cables? Thank you very much in any case 😉😉🙏🏻🙏🏻
After you have the component cable set up, You should go into the Wii Settings > Screen > TV Resolution > EDTV or HDTV (480p). It will help with the quality and resolution.
What if you don’t have this 5 dots back in the tv? Because I have a smart to 4K and there are no dots. Should I buy the cable and an adapter or should I keep the normal cable and buy an adapter?
I don't understand your question. Are u referring to buying an HDMI adapter? Just get a normal Wii cable adapter that connects with HDMI on your smart tv. Skip the 5 dot/cable and play.
Check the accessories that your TV came with, modern TV's usually come with these little adapters, they're usually inside that bag where the manual comes in, they will allow you to plug in components as well as standard AV.
Yup, exactly. Just send signal to HDMI. It is NOT component truly. Let me know if it looks better resolution wise. Always curious about that. Basically analogue to digital in essence.
@@TheJoshLange I have the same issue... the living room tv doesn't even have a composite connection so having to use the small TV until I get the adapter.
But what happens when a TV doesn't have component input? The answer is getting an upscaler. They are made for a specific audience so they are pretty pricey. The best option is getting a retrotink 5x
That’s why I came to this video. I got a new TV today and I can see it doesn’t have the part on the back for the white, yellow and red wires (it’s a smart TV) So I’m wondering when and how I will be able to play again
You will need a hdmi converter that either fits into the wii, or a converter that has the ports that the wii has, that being the red yellow and white cables. Then you will need a hdmi cable to connect from the converter into your tv. If you have wall mounted tv, this can still be done.
THANK YOU so much for this helpful video. I would have been languishing for months trying to figure out what was wrong had I not known that the included composite cords won't work with the smart tv. If you have a donate button or Venmo I'd love to give you something for this valuable info. I would have had to pay SOMEONE to come help me with it... I'd gladly give you some money for it.
@@gemwebb Now that I'm retired I figured I see my Nintendo Wii back up. I couldn't get it to work! Then I saw your video mentioning smart TV's!! Just ordered my new cables. Thanks for the link, that was helpful. You saved me so much tine and aggravation. I can't thank you enough!!
Okay,... What do you do when you have Composite Pots (1 Red, 1 Yellow, 1 White) on the back of the TV ? We hooked up the original Wii cable but the picture on the Vizio TV is horrible.
I got a wii recently because of childhood memories but cant get it to show with the component cable that came with. It was showing just B&W so I tried an older tv and got to play but once I learned that green can be used for video I tried again on my newer TV but now nothing
I dont have the components at the back of my tv, so I bought an upscaler that has those components, plugged everything into where its supposed to go, and my tv still acts as though nothing is connected. I thought at one point I heard a sound from the wii, but other than nothing is happening. Does anyone have any suggestions for me. My tv is a samsung series 6 if that helps.
My original cable that came with the WII is showing a poor quality black and white screen and no audio and looked up the link to the cables from Amazon, there is a review that their video quality is poor after they purchased the cables you recommended. Before I purchase them, is the poor quality of the video related to the cables or do we have to change the tv settings to something else? If so, could you tell me how to change the settings? I have a 6 years old Samsung smart tv. Thanks.
i just bought an Sony Bravia A90J, unfortunately it doesn't have the component input so I can't use the recommended cables. I'm using an Wii2HDMI converter at the moment but the Menu is still really blurry, the picture is better during the games though. Does anyone have any tips or clues for me? Would love to maximize the graphics on my new TV :)
Question, my LG Smart Tv doesn't have Component Conntions , not even Red Yellow White. It does have a yellow 3.5mm Jack labeled AV. I bought a AV adapter for it that has the red, yellow, white output, but I dont get any video, I do get Audio though. Before, I bought a HDMI adapter but as someone else stated, I only got a Black and White video out of it. Im not 100% sure what I should be buying at this point to get it to work.
Update: I connected my AV inputs to and older TV and the video on the Wii works perfectly. I hope I can connect it to the Larger Newer TV but it might not be possible, unless I get the correct adapters.
Adapters off of Amazon are hit and miss just so you know. I'd try another as the video should go straight from Wii into yellow video port. U cannot up sample to hdmi - no sense going through that hdmi. Stick to AV cables with left and right audio.
Thank you for this video it’s very helpful. I had ordered the converter to hdmi for the wii and it works fine it’s just it’s black and white. Should I have ordered the component instead?
The HDMI is overkill. Yes, consider ordering the component cable I linked under my video in the description in the correct Amazon country store. Please make sure to also confirm those inputs are on the back of your TV. I love my Wii, guitar hero is fun for family get together. Be well Terilyn.
Mine is saying invalid format when I change to that input, I've looked online and it's telling me to change the resolution on the TV but I'm not sure how to find that option, any help?
That's super odd. Resolution is not dictated by a tv setting. It just automatically happens. Computers screens attached to computers can change reaction but not on tv so that is very odd. You have original cable or some non name amAzon knock off?
When I turn my wii on its just black and white should I order Fosmon Compatible with Nintendo Wii and Wii U, Component HD AV Cable (1.8M) That you linked?
NOTE for those who are modded with usb loader gx and unable to play games like the last story select the game and its settings then game load then change video mode to force ntsc480p VIDTV patch on sneek patch on aspect ratio force 16:9 then the game will run
The smart tv we got is bolted, and I can't take it off the wall since my father said not to that. Now, I got two component in ports the first is light blue and have R-blue R-red; the second is yellow and have Y-green and yellow L-white R-red. So, how to make it work? Do I need an adapter?
I have the component cable, ( it has great color now using it)but on my 70” tv I can only get the picture in the center of tv screen , not the whole screen. And it’s small ,maybe 16 “rectangle, any idea how to change that? Thanks for this great information
Hi I found your video super informative, but I only have 3 of the holes. I have a Samsung tv I believe it’s 4 k what should I do since it doesn’t have the 5 holes?
I know this is old but if you have those colorful wires but the tv only has three can you use the two red, white, and green for yellow?? Im just asking since i lost my original tree wires.
I have the correct cord however, I don’t seem to have those colored ports on the back of my TV. I have a brand new Samsung I don’t know if it’s 60 inch or something. Does this TV not have those holes?
If you don't have the 4 component color ports on back of your modern tv then forget about UPScaling. Your tv is most likely 4k and stopped catering to old component half way between 640 and 1080. I love WII also and trying to help but just enjoy it while we still can. Let me know if you have other questions.
Hooked up wii with component cable through component to hdmi converter on 4k lg tv, set the 480p on wii, but it outputs the way worse quality of the image than it is on your example in the video. Maybe there could be some additional settings?
Hi, My Sony Smart tv doesn’t have those colored component inputs but only HDMI and one jack for Video In (which I have inserted an adaptor yrs ago for dvd watching with white, red, yellow attachment). Any suggestions for those of us without the component inputs? Would that HDMI to Wii be the solution but no color? Thanks!
Component is the best resolution that Wii offers. It can't to HD. So it makes it better than 640.480 old school tv resolution. It is better on new HD TVs if I have component in.
Thank you for this video. I have an extra wii I want to give my little cousin. I can't get it to connect right to the TV my dad just me so that I test the Wii out first! Now I know I need a "component" which is new to me!!
If you don't have basic audio and yellow video port then you will have to for connecting it logically. But do not expect hd resolution. It's just for connecting.
Wow, only one video and a single channel audio input?! You could look into just plugging in the yellow video cable to Wii and to your tv yellow video port, then just plug in the right or left audio cable. Would not matter as u only have one audio source input. Let me know if it works. You won't hurt anything to test until it works.
HDMI is way higher than component video. Wii only puts out low resolution video. Do you have a audio video to hdmi adapter? You will then be able to play Wii.
Could you please tell me the model of your 4k lg tv with component video input so I can buy a tv like that. Or else help me by saying which 4k tv models have component video inputs and what brands are there?
Julie, I'd help you and did a search on Amazon and unsure which ones today have the slowly disappearing Component video hookups. I'd go into a local store like The Brick, Leon's, Costco (Canada based) and look on back of them or read boxes. I'm sure you can call LG also 1-800 number and ask also. But what size u want?! lol Go 75 if you have big enough room. You'll love it!
Thank you so more for this video 🙏🏽 as someone who is very bad with tech and gets confused easy this was so helpful and now I get to play my Wii sports bowling 🎳 like I’m 10 again 🥳🥳
