Composers are people who write music. Some composers create music that connects to history. They might create music about important events. They might create music to capture the mood of a special time or place. Or, they might write music or use instruments in such unique ways that they actually make history!
Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture Tchaikovsky used music to describe a fierce battle between France and Russia that took place in 1812. He was inspired by the way the Russian army bravely defended its capital city against the invading French army.
