This recording captures an important event hosted by the Alberta Chambers of Commerce, aimed at advancing truth and reconciliation through shared understanding and collaboration between the Chamber network, the Alberta business community, and Indigenous peoples.
The land on which we gathered is home to a diverse range of First Nations, Métis, Inuit, and all Indigenous peoples. Coming together from across the province, we recognized that the land we live, work, and do business on includes Treaties 4, 6, 7, 8, and 10 territories. We acknowledge the deep connection Indigenous peoples have with this land and understand that our shared prosperity is linked to the stewardship of these lands.
The event featured the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Coalition of Chiefs, focusing on opportunities for Indigenous workers and addressing on-reserve poverty.
Key speakers included Dale Swampy, President of the National Coalition of Chiefs, and Desmond Jackson, Indigenous Relations Advisor for the Town of Okotoks, who shared valuable insights on knowledge transfer, oral traditions, and the impact of Residential Schools.
Thank you for watching!
