I was a HUGE Larry Johnson fan growing up. When I was about 12 years old I finally talked my parents into going to a Pistons/Hornets game. I went to the game early with the hopes of getting Larry's autograph, and had his rookie card and a Sharpie in my hand. But I wasn't NEARLY brave enough to go up to my idol and ask him. It didn't help that he was HUGE and such an imposing figure. I followed Larry throughout his career, and he is still one of my favorite players of all time.
I stucked with him even when he was losing during his stint at Golden State. My friends are laughing at me for taking a player like him that constantly loses. Then came his vindication when he went to New York. One of the happiest days in my life seeing him in the Finals of 99.
Bro!!!! Sprewell is one of my favorite players playing for the Warriors! He’s the reason I became a fan for the Dubs...when he went to New York his game was still 🔥
These 2 was the reason why the knicks became my favorite team I was 10 when they was the 8th seed n made it to the finals I'm from the south but man I love the knicks
Crazy to think how Spree only spent 5 years in New York because he is one of the most memorable Knicks. I can't even think of one Knick player over recent years who played as hard as Spree.
When I was in high school my dad traveled to the USA on a business trip and brought me the Latrell's DaDa shoes with the cool windmills. I became the most popular kid among guys every time I stepped in the court!
Yeah and No. He was a power forward so he was good for that position for the early to mid 90s but his body was thick I feel he should have been a SF that was a punisher but his career kind of flopped with the injuries.
Classic this my time when I was growing up good to see this 2 brothas doing well crazy 😜 Larry Johnson remind me of Garnett and Sprewell remind me of the spinning rims back in the day just like the choke on his coach lol 😂😂😂🤣🤣
Two of my favorite players from college days and in the pros just wish they had won that ring with the Knicks thanks for sharing very important information giving thanks blessed love to all knowledge is power hopefully everyone pays attention keep up the good work 1🙏🙏🙏🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲💪💪💪
Lived in Vegas during LJs time there, and the city was on fire with the Runnin' Rebels. Anyway, had the opportunity to meet Larry 4 years ago in Atlantic City for a signing. Couldn't wait to meet him, mind you, he is 2 years younger then I....lol ... anyway, I swear it was like seeing a long lost family member. Larry was fantastic. We hugged, laughed, took photos, talked about the UNLV days, and he signed a couple jerseys and photographs their PR people took. This guy actually made the effort to go "above and beyond" what you'd expect from a meet and greet. I like to think the fact that I knew his career, lived in Vegas, saw him play, and hated Duke as much as him, kinda created a small friendship. Larry is definitely a humble, approachable, considerate person. This interview with Spree is on point. And yeah.... I'm still fucking pissed we lost to DUKE in that National Semifinal as an undefeated defending National Champions....but Larry will always be one of my favorite players I've ever followed.
These are my boyz! The Knicks have never been the same again! They're on my wall. The Knicks only wall. This is good stuff to see these guys BS after so many years.
certain people felt like the 99 + 00 knicks were better without the post elite version of patrick Ewing but but that's 100% false cuz they lost in round 1 in 01 + haven't reached the conference finals since 00
Big ol'grand mama one of my favorite PFs right up there with Barley, Malone and Garnett. Granted his career kinda derailed by the back injury, but the foot work, low post game or how he reinvented himself with long range shots, I mean, dude is a beast
Two legendary players talking about the good old days when they were playing in the NBA and these two dudes were the truth when they were on the court. And on a side note I have a you tube channel type in Russell Mills May 22, 2017
That was awesome to see and I learned so much that I didn’t know. Great to look back with these dudes and get away for a sec from All that’s going on in the world
Van Gundy said larry johnson was the most unselfish player he ever coached. He really surprised me how great a leader & teammate he was particularly the 8th seed run to the finals. In charlotte he was all about scoring & heard that he & zo had serious issues. So I figured when he came to ny he would be a ball hog & have an ego. This man was the opposite. He passed a lot & never tried to take a Ton of shots. His 4 pt play in a huge spot in the conference finals is one if the greatest plays I've ever seen. Knicks down 3 & lj drills a 3 & fouled. Made his foul shot & the knicks won the game & later the series.
Very nice Interview--very real... booth grounded and smooth ....2 of my Childhood Nba Heroes....Larry Left-Handed Power Dunks and Sprees Tomahawk Dunks ...DOPE
Thank you for noticing. With all the talk and speculation about WHO Zion reminds people of, too many folks don't recognize the similarities between Zion and LJ. Namely, the WAY they move and play. Zion is a bigger, higher jumping version of LJ. IT's laughable how THIS comparison never comes up, because it's obvious. And, people forget LJ was actually 6'5", not 6'7". One of my all-time favorite players.
Spree was my favorite player post MJ. He was a beast on the Knicks. Had Ewing not been hurt those Finals woulda been more competitive imo. And LJ with the 4pt play. Incredible.
Crazy cause I can’t forget that Spre was wit Converse. He had an autograph signing in Milwaukee in 1994. I’ll never forget, it was at the old Warehouse shoes on Silverspring and highway 100. As an 11 year old kid u never forget stuff like that. Coincidentally at the time I never knew that he was from my City.
these 2 were my favorite players as a kid when they were in Charlotte and GSW so this video is like gold to me. But Im not believing LJ when he says he didn't know Sprewell was on Converse or maybe Alzheimer is kicking in already. Can't recall a bigger name than any of them being on Converse at the time. I even had 2 pairs of Converse shoes because of Sprewell.
I hate the knicks and rooted against them that season they went to the finals. But I thought that team and the way they played might have been the most dangerous team that year.
He made a few I’ve seen him dunk but when he did it was wide open he wasn’t dunkin on people like he was with Charlotte cuz of his back injury but he would when it was a wide open shot but not too often
spree got the time capsule fam. its all good. him and AI are my favorites mainly for that reason. Nowadays players dress like rupaul mixed with some alient type stuff.
Spree was an O.G. If he was part of the Knicks coaching staff, he would have the Knicks play Thug Ball. Which is cutthroat, violent, uber aggressive, and brutal.
