For me personally I’m not taking about paying fighters millions or close to millions of dollars but I just want basic things like Health insurance and pensions for fighter that have been in the UFC for a long time.

Glad Brendan had time to think about all this fighter pay debate. Hes saying alot of what Bryan tried to explain. Ive been saying this same shit for years. Its never gonna be as big as the other sports. I have so few friends that watch Mma. Dont go into fighting if youre not going to accept the realities. Be a plumber.
Its not about being as big as other sports. Its about the fighters getting a fair % of what the ufc brings in. The people that are in tune, arent saying their pay should be equivalent to salaries in other sports. Again, its just about the fighters getting a fair slice of the pie(the profit of the ufc).
Brendan has obviously talked to someone who has schooled him on this whole fighter pay thing. He totally has changed his tune and just accepts it. Cause someone explained to his dumbass that ufc is so different than other sport leagues. They are teams. There’s so much that goes into it. He just never saw that. I guarantee you he talked to someone who clued him in. I’d bet all my money on it
People don’t take into account that the UFC PI is free for fighters. And there’s facilities all over. Plus all the marketing the UFC does for fighters is unmatched by any other fight organization.
There’s a really simple reason why mma fighters can’t get paid as much as other sports, and that’s availability. In most sports, athletes compete several times a year allowing the organization to profit several times from the same athletes and pay them. In the ufc fighters only right 2-3 times a year. If it was possible for fighters to fight 10 times a year then they would be paid 10 times a year rather than 2-3 times
No, the biggest blow up in sports history has to be the ufc during covid, without question. And the thing brendan and many others forget when comparing fighters to athletes in the other top sports, is they perform in front of fans typically twice a year. A baseball player is helping sell tickets(and tv rights) to 182 games a year.
Since TKO is public traded company, they must disclose financials to the regulators + do some publicly for the Wallstreet. Someone who has time (and potentially also resources) must be able to find out. Revenue, costs, margin, ebitda / whatever. If we want to dig deeper may be difficult. But even on a first google try - allegedly UFC is estimated to have made 900m$ revenue in 2021, with profit of nearly half of that +-400m$ ..... before the Endeavor took its things. Soooo do you think there is a room to increase fighters wages / insurance?
Conor isnt the most underpaid athlete ever. Gtfoh. He fought 4 times in the last 8 years. And i get he took the sport to another level, but the sport wouldve grown either way. Of course it prolly wouldve taken longer, but it wouldve happened. The way shit played out with the ufc being the only sport going on during covid, it wouldve blown the fuck up either way.
335mil just means that the UFC will continue to do fight nights at the APEX for a couple more years to get that money back lol. Basically sucks for the fans getting cheaper fight night cards to the smaller markets

Most (not all) 1099 contracted workers tend to take a 30% cut of what ever profit their industry creates. It would be nice to know that the fighters were getting closer to that number than 17%. I dont care how its been or how its going to be. Thats just disgraceful.. I've been a UFC fan since like Penn and Liddell days. And the night Robbie stopped Rory when he broke his nose and Rory went blind, I stopped watching the sport for a little over a year. I just dont like supporting a business that has their workers give this much of their life and health to this sport and they get much less than market value. All while the UFC just keeps growing and growing and doing bigger and bigger deals... Its just aick. But like Chin said. I just keep watching it cause its the only sport I love.
