Contrary to what the leaderboard times tell you, Bob still holds the uncontested world record in acquiring the most man crushes in speedrunning. True legend.
Another absolute banger video Ricky! You’re so damn good at making these, easily my favourite speedrunning content and one of my favourite youtubers period. Keep it up!
I was wondering when the hover glitch would come crashing through the ceiling Been loving the speedrunner interviews. This might be my favorite video game documentary. It's awesome seeing thousands of hours worth of research and discovery condensed into a format like this.
Once this is over, I'll have to rewatch all the eras back-to-back to truly understand how mind-boggling this timeline has been. A shame Yankee never managed to fit a SFHB into a WR though; he deserved it too, given how he just tore Temple in half.
another fantastic video man. Might be my favorite Era so far. keep up the amazing work and thanks for putting a spotlight on one of the coolest games out there
The series started very well but its getting an absolute banger man By far the best and most interesting speedrun contest I've ever seen. Sharing your passion for this is with us is ❤
I don't know how you do it... but i feel like i'm watching an official documentary on Netflix. The quality of these just dont miss! Keep up the good work and I can't wait for V - IX
This is amazing, the series just keeps getting better, I've been excited for the next ERA ever since the first one, i wonder how this all ends. Also bob is a fucking G, homie is chill af
these videos are so captivating and so full of life the way you put these videos together and the way you explain things is amazing! Can not wait for the next one, Well Done Ricky as always you know how to blow it outta the park!!
As a spanish person, i just feel surprised about all your hard work speedruning all this games. Your channel and your research is amazing Ricky, each video is better than the previous, keep making this videos you are one of the best youtubers i've watched in my life
This docuseries is just outstanding, the amount of work, information and dedication to it. especially cause i discorvered the world of speedrunning from you during 2017, and from that i started my little journey on jak x cause of you, all of this is super interesting and melted my heart. can't wait for all the remaining era videos!
I have never waited for a video to drop so eagerly, thank you for keeping the spark of all of our childhoods still alive, I own this trilogy on every game system ps2-5 and love the attention you bring to it
thank you so much for making this video I'm going threw a jank breakup rn but i'm so hyped to watch this vid tonight before bed and it's gonna make my day.
sick as hell dude, i often think about how temple skip or hover glitch by themselves would blow apart the route; the fact that they were adopted at the same time is a miracle. amazing work covering all the details and the new frontier that yankee and bob opened up for the game
it's a story about a game that i didn't play, about people that i don't even know, in a thing that barely matters to me... yet i'm soooo invested lmao. keep up the great work! cant wait for ERA V
I just recently found this series and WOW! Ive played these games so much in my youth and didn't even realize there was always such a passionate community behind it! Sure, when I was younger I would now and then look up speedruns of Jak 2 and 3, and also watched some, but I think I never fully grasped just how much work and how much manpower it takes to actually make a speedrun come to fruition, not even talking about how much time it takes to practice and discover new ways to beat the game... this just blew me away I think I would like to extent my thanks for you making these videos and putting in so much work of researching, compiling and shortening the info and editing, they are such a blast to watch! You manage to make someone like me, who never actually watched speedruns that much up until now, understand whats going on and follow your points and the information perfectly! Cant wait for the next parts :D
I just started the video but a thought occured to me, that you may or may not have talked about in a video but... Speedrunning, the kind you guys did is a dying breed. Games can be patched anytime now, glitches gone, sequence breaks gone, exploits of any kind fixed. If you hadn't formatted the adventures through a story telling format who would? Who would document the amazing time you all had. It's like a story of adventurers plundering through the digitial dungeons. I love listening to and seeing what you and your friends did. Honestly I'm a little jealous that I never got to participate in these things because of a strict family that saw video games as bad but I'm also happy that I get to see and know everything that happened. Your videos are great, I'll be sad when the Jak series ends but thank you for making it.
Thanks man, every game has a deep speedrunning history, but the Jak community is a special one and i've decided I wanted to spend a good chunk of my life talking about it. As for the whole patching thing. A lot of newer games that are patchable usually have a workaround. Speedrunners typically play on a specific patch or find a way to downpatch games so that they don't have to play on newer versions that have glitches fixed and such. Occasionally devs will actually be helpful and patch out dumb skips or things like fps dependant tricks and such to equal the playing field, but that's not every game company. Thanks for the kind words man, you could still experience a new era in your favourite game though. Nothing is too late. Lots of games out there have very few runners and you could be a huge addition :)
Hearing about these burnouts is one reason why I refuse to get into speedrunning, because I don't want to get burnt out on games I really enjoy playing, I mean Jak 3 is one of my favorite PS2 games, and I want to play it to have fun, not to break the game in half just to get the fastest time
18:45 - Gotta love how one of the Jak series' biggest and most game-changing glitches just gets dropped into the video with basically no build-up whatsoever. XD
every time i see a new era video i get super excited, learning how this game has evolved has been super interesting, especially with how much knowledge you have about the game. i've literally never played a jak game before lol
Not only are these well written, the music choices and editing and everything are great too. Its easy to take that stuff for granted but all its really clean and consistent
I keep saying it but your choice of background music consistently blows me away! Amazing series. This is truly inspiring. I love the addition of interviews and how they're woven within the story telling.
I literally rewatched the other episodes last night. I just opened RU-vid listened to a song and the video was there fastest click on video I've ever done
ITS HERE YESSSSS IM SO EXCITED THANK YOU 🔥🔥🔥 Ever since I saw the first video I've been so happy to see a childhood classic in the modern landscape of RU-vid and seeing a Jak and Daxter community still alive and well is utterly heartwarming.
With this addition the scope of the series becomes truly impressive. Great job weaving the narrative to be engaging while still delving into the minutia of Jak 3 tech. Bob’s best overall.
Wow Ricky you never fail, I watched part 3 two days and saw that it was made 3 months ago and see the next part today 😂. Keep up the good work man love your content
Hell yeah, I've been waiting so long for this! I'm not a speedrunner myself, but learning the history of runners for games I used to play all the time is super interesting, and I think you do the best job at telling those stories.
This is such an interesting video series and funnily enough you were the reason I first considered even attempting to speedrun a game before I even realized you were the same person because of this series so just wanted to say thanks for that and I can't wait to see more of your content be it this series or whatever you decide to put out next.
Absolutely awesome storytelling (edit: i mean, presenting things well is absolutely an art, and you've consistently been doing an awesome job in this series). Top tier stuff. I'm looking forward to part V :D
Just made some food, a great thing to have pop up in my sub box. Can’t wait for the whole series to be finished Ik it’ll take some time but definitely worth the wait.
Ricky after the week I've had man coming home sitting down and seeing that you uploaded another video completely made my day so much better, So much I had to tell you brother
