I had no idea any video of Conrail activity on the Snow Shoe Industrial line existed on the internet. As somebody who has spent his entire twenty-one year existence thus far growing up and living in the Snow Shoe area, well after the railroad was long gone, this is really, really cool.
thank you soooooo much for sharing this video my Grandfather was shown in it several time aboard train 8049 he retired from Conrail man I loved when he'd take me on the train. soooo proud of my Grandad ♡
Moms side of family all grew up in clearfield, dads currwensville. Dad grew up in front of the train tracks and watched the ol conrail shuttle coal back and forth every day. Sure wish i was there to see it all. Too bad conrails a goner. All run by ns and corman now. Awesome vid. Ive seen as much of cr as i possibly can thru the years.
A very nice video! Absolutely love those classic EMD consists, especially the loaded coal trains! Very cool also to see how empty coal hoppers are loaded with coal! Very educational! And, also, long live the Conrail blue!
This is pure gold! I live in Tyrone and only wish that the segment to Osceola Mills had been intact and active in my lifetime. I believe it was removed by PC in 1975.
They closed the old Snow Shoe rr bridge to forwheelers and atv. Said they were afraid bears were jumping off. So now you have to find a way around the bridge. I wish RJ Corman would reopen that rail line. Be pretty cool to see trains going on it when you cross I-80 West.
when those snow shoe to Clarence rails taken out, I live a few minutes from the old halls market and wish they put the rails back in and run trains again
Agreed seems like they wasted more money taking them out then just leaving the things alone other than to make paths for ATV which they destroy or want you pay yo ride on anyway. Things sure have changed a lot in 20 years around here. Peal is also gone now, epa came in and leveled everything.
The whole video is great! Love the sound especially from 17min on until the end. My last name is Trump. Our family was large and scattered but anyone in the Clearfield county area with that last name is related to me.
Not this line but when I was a kid. Contrails had aline from Philipstown pa through new Bethlehem to Brookville it was a low grade I geuss.. 200+ cars 3 times a day..most days.. we lived in right beside the tracks with ft 28 between us ..lol load at 2 am .. awys where did these trains go after Brookville? I have no idea..
Awesome video ... great railroading, Any word on them putting the track back in to viaduct for the garbage dump? Any possibility this may still happen?
Very unlikely. Resource Recovery, LLC, the company that wanted to put in the landfill, was all but chased out of town by local opposition. They still own the land that they wanted to use for the landfill, but the landfill project itself has been dead for nearly ten years.
Ns An CSX won't stop me at buying locamotives of Conrail CRS RR under McCarty RR Baron yardleyville has the rights of a duel track an good track lines we need if we're to make a come back
Ok thanks, I am trying to figure out which lines were abandoned when. I am most interested as to when the snow shoe cluster lines, like the snow shoe industrial, were abandoned.
OK thanks. Also, were there ever any other rail customers on the snow shoe industrial besides the refractory plant? Or was the refractory plant the only reason for the track?
Mr. Interesting during the PRR years there was coal traffic with several mines in the area. By the time Conrail took over the refractory plant was the only customer left.
OK thanks, I was just wondering because I found the name "Conrail Winburne industrial track" mentioned somewhere and was wondering if there was brach line to a customer in Winburne or if that was just the name of the section of track that passes Winburne
wheres the location at 8:30? 8:54 I LOVE. I rode my bike up to the bridge from Winburne area . 10:00 the bridge is still standing. 10:37 i dont recognize
Stallion has 4100 locamotives an CSX is in debt for the 4 tier system an I'm a part of granite RR an looking for the Eastern sea board right an the back money owed
McCarty rail road valued at three hundred million after paid for yardleyville pa yard for CRS RR we've ninety day to a quite title as home base of operations under resturcting reorganize over head of taxes two million a year on McCarty RR yardleyville RR an we haul for fourteen cent a mile
I agree to the merger as C®SA as Conrail route shared assets RR as call letters. And we've a fight to stand for as coalition look at tracks of yardleyville first thing An what it going cost us to be a railyard an we go to FRA on yardleyville under grant of three Percent federal grant , yardleyville paid off 30,000,000 on lien of property first lien of new title two million in rail track as two mile railtrack or yardleyville yard your part as shared assets if merger go thought
