Don't know much about the various horns used on locomotives, but I like how they mounted them extending over the cab like they did. I guess a bright, sky blue Office Car Special was deemed garish by Conrail brass, but at least, one of their three E8s had beein originally painted that way. This IS a stately OCS, but I liked their standard blue better.
During the last days of CR, they ran the OCS on the B line west bound ,,Marion-Indy. I just happened to catch it in Ansonia. This was the first time I caught the OCS and the last CR train I ever photo'd. I was there from day one,,4-1-76, photo'ing CR.
Some very wonderful footage! Do you happen to have any media featuring AMTKs F40s with good horn at grade crossings? I've been looking for a shot of good shot of #314 for almost 7 months now.
I figured this had to have been filmed at least 97 or 98 bc if this was taken in 95 then that wide cab wouldn’t exist yet, and that standard cab unit would have a fresher looking paint scheme as well.
I’ve never seen a passenger train like the last one. The engines at 8:40 were completely new to me as well. Was that some high roller private train? Loved the big glass window on the last car.
The two seen here are now owned by Bennett Levin and have long since been painted back to PRR tuscan red. Conrail had a third E unit (4022) that is now (again) Erie 833 that I believe is stored in Port Jervis, NY.
