He details the high standards his parents set and the ties that his grandfather and uncles had to the criminal lifestyle. As the talk moves along, the former collaborator of A Tribe Called Quest talks about the impact of losing his grandmother to Leukemia at the age of twelve and how that experience set him on the path toward writing rap songs. He also explains how he settled on his stage name.
