The scroll, its preservation, and Japanese art in general are interesting and beautiful. It can make us feel good. But the idea of it bringing good karma, although also sounding good, is unreal and hopeless. We will never be able to pay for all of our bad karma - even if we become "bodhisattvas." And we do not need to continually reincarnate to prove this fact. That is why the Creative Force paid for us. Although he has no bad karma, he created us, and so takes responsibility. He came to earth once as the man Jesus Christ and died in our place to cancel our bad karma. If we can be humble enough to accept this, we have true hope in this life and beyond.
